As far as unlikely sequels go, Nier 2 (opens in new tab) ranks pretty highly. First teased as part of Square Enix’s E3 2015 press conference (opens in new tab), the game now has an official title, plot details, and a gameplay trailer. Dubbed (opens in new tab) “Nier: Automata,” the game will star a blindfolded, skirt-wearing android from the moon named YoRHa No. 2 Type-B (but you can call her “2B”) as she fights robots that look straight out of a ’50s sci-fi movie in an effort to take back Earth for humanity.
Oh I’m sorry, did I not mention that Nier is known for being kinda weird? Cuz it’s kinda weird. But if you’d rather not worry about all the awkwardly-named details, just know that the gameplay looks buttery-smooth and full of slick, over-the-top melee combat.
Nier: Automata has no official release window yet, but is in development for PlayStation 4.
