Fans of cuddly ursine antics will be delighted to know that StudioCanal is moving forwards with a Paddington sequel following the critical and commercial success of the first film. And the studio is so keen to repeat the formula that it has persuaded Paul King to return to write and direct the new film.
Deadline (opens in new tab) reports that King will work with regular collaborator Simon Farnaby to create the story, with David Heyman also back on board to produce. The report goes on to stress that Heyman will ensure King has total creative control over the project, with no pressure on the director to complete the film before it is ready.
Original stars Ben Whishaw and Hugh Bonneville are expected to return, with StudioCanal hopeful that this can be the beginning of a long-running family franchise. Marmalade sandwiches all round then!
