F1 Race Stars (opens in new tab) is getting closer to its 16th of November launch. But in case you’re wondering how on Earth the glamourous yet serious world of F1 could possibly translate into a Mario Kart-esque racer, then there’s good news. You can try it for yourself! That’s right, there’s a demo out today on PC (Steam) and Xbox 360, with a PS3 demo to follow on November 7 in Europe (Nov 13 in the US). While it’s downloading, let this trailer convince you of its quality with a ‘Wa-hoo!’ and a triple turbo Race Star power up .
There’s also a pre-order bonus of an exclusive track – Valencia – for gamers who pre-order their UK copy from GAME (opens in new tab). This track will let gamers race through a marina, speed across super-slippy ice and dodge flying tomatoes in single-player, split-screen and online.
‘Original’ is not the first word that springs to mind when we look at F1 Race Stars, as there’s more than a sniff of Mario Kart about the premise and weapon set, but the quality level just keeps rising every time we play it. How good can it be? Look out for our review soon. Surely it can’t challenge Mario’s crown… can it?
