Dark Skies review

In this doomy surburban horror the real terrors don’t come from space.

The real horror is a cratered economy and all the woozy financial woes that come with it.

Keri Russell stars as the beleaguered matriarch of a family plunged into ruin when dad loses his job. As the bills pile up, efficient if familiar poltergeist activity mounts.

Birds fly into windows, furniture is mysteriously rearranged, and the kids start seeing ghosts. Can ‘alien’ expert J.K. Simmons save the day?

As a shocker, Scott Stewart’s ( Priest ) film is solid, but it’s the thoroughly depressing backdrop that you’ll take away.
