You know how old VHS rental tapes had the blurb on the back that made sure to tell you what great films the stars had been in before? It’s a neat little trick to make you feel in safe hands with something totally unfamiliar. It seems like ReCore is that blurb in video game form.
Even after introducing itself at E3 by showing off that it was being developed by Keiji Inafune, creator of Mega Man, and Armature Studio – i.e. the people who made Metroid Prime and then split from Retro Games – the Xbox One exclusive has even more high-profile connections to share.
Revealed by the New York Times (opens in new tab) (and elaborated on by Destructoid (opens in new tab)), ReCore’s being penned by Joseph Staten who, up until 2013, was a key member of the Bungie writing team. Writer of if not the best, then certainly the most human Halo game, ODST, and a lead writer on Destiny (not to mention directing Halo’s cinematics and managing its extended universe tie-ins), he’s got pedigree.
Hopefully all of that experience will lead to something special when the game’s released – it’s planned for a Spring launch this year.
