The so-called PlayStation 4 Slim (opens in new tab) is official, and it’s coming next week. Sony announced at its PlayStation Meeting (opens in new tab) event today that the budget-conscious model will arrive on September 15 in ‘most regions’ and it will cost $299 / £259. Sony didn’t confirm a new name for the system, but Slim is as good of a nickname as any.
The new model of PS4 actually leaked weeks ago, despite Sony’s best efforts. But it’s still good to see that there’s a budget-friendly option next to the newly announced PS4 Pro (formerly PS4 Neo). And your new PS4 Slim will still get HDR compatibility, thanks to an upcoming update (opens in new tab).
