Earlier this week we got a proper look at the live-action Ghost in the Shell flick. That teaser trailer (opens in new tab) bumped up excitement levels for the movie considerably, giving us a glimpse at a beloved sci-fi property in an entirely new form. While we – obviously – have to wait for the finished product to arrive in theaters before we throw in our two cents, there’s plenty to suggest it’s going to be worth the wait.
As well as that preview, we’ve now got another chunk of footage. This time it’s a lengthy clip dedicated to a shelling sequence. What’s that, you ask? It’s how Scarlett Johansson’s character, Major, is created:
Remind you of anything in particular? This glimpse at Major’s creation is eerily reminiscent of Westworld’s Hosts. Not like that’s a coincidence: earlier this week, we sat down with the film’s director Rupert Sanders who pretty much said that both cyborgs were influenced by each other. Small world, eh?
Directed by Rupert Sanders and starring Scarlett Johansson, Pilou Asbaek, Michael Pitt, Takeshi Kitano, Juliette Binoche, Kaori Momoi, and Chin Han, Ghost in the Shell will be released in cinemas on March 31, 2017.
