Ok they say the grass is always greener on the other side but gosh, just look at that grass. This Unreal recreation of the first stage of the original Spyro The Dragon by IamMurloc (opens in new tab) is just lovely and makes me instantly want to download the PSOne Classic. If, like me, you can’t, just hit play on the Soundcloud link below and take a look through the images. It’s almost as good.
So far IamMurloc has just created the first stage and it’s all still a work in progress. “The overall colours and lighting in general are far from finished,” they say on Reddit (opens in new tab). “The sky for example is still too dark, clouded and blue compared to the original and for the buildings I tried to replicate the shapes visible on the first game’s buildings but as shapes instead of flat textures.” Check out some comparisons to the original items below.
