There have long been rumblings about Fox putting together an X-Men / Fantastic Four crossover film, but those rumours may be moving closer to fruition, with Bryan Singer hinting that such a project has been seriously discussed at the studio. “Those ideas are in play,” confirmed Singer, when asked by Yahoo! (opens in new tab)whether a team-up film might be on the cards. “That would be a natural match-up because they’re both ensemble films and there is a natural mechanism by which to do it.”
And according to Singer, that “natural mechanism” is something that “deals with time”. Just what he means by that is unclear, although time travel was a big feature of Days Of Future Past, while the new Fantastic Four movie will cover dimensional travel.
A team-up in a parallel universe, then? Sounds like it’s a possibility… In the meantime we can look forward to Fantastic Four opening in the UK on August 6 2015 and the US a day later, before X-Men: Apocalypse arrives in the UK on May 19, 2016 and the US on May 27, 2016.
