Alien: Covenant video counts down to release in a creepy hypersleep chamber

The next chapter in the Prometheus saga arrives in theaters one year from now. Alien: Covenant (opens in new tab) takes the first step toward bridging the gap between Ridley Scott’s 2012 outing and the original Alien saga. Thing is, we’re still not sure exactly how that’s going to happen and the marketing materials released so far have remained cryptic. Still it’s a welcome change from the alternative (spoiler-heavy promos) and today’s newest clip continues to keep us in the dark, while paying homage to the franchise. Have a look, below:

That’s Katherine Waterston’s character Daniels taking a nap in a hypersleep chamber, drawing the first of what may be several parallels between Covenant and the original movies. Flickering lights, that sense of claustrophobia… yes, it’s all very, very Alien.

Directed by Ridley Scott and starring Katherine Waterston, Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, Demian Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Jussie Smollett, Amy Seimetz, Callie Hernandez and Danny McBride, Alien: Covenant will open in the US and UK on August 4, 2017.
