Original story: Marvel and Square Enix are teaming up for a series of games and they’re starting with a big one: The Avengers Project, which is currently being developed by both Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal. Those are the studios responsible for Rise of the Tomb Raider (opens in new tab) and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (opens in new tab) respectively, which is a pretty nice pedigree.

The teaser trailer shows cast off gear from The Avengers lying amidst wreckage and rubble: Bruce Banner’s glasses (I think), Thor’s hammer, Iron Man’s gauntlet, and Captain America’s shield. It looks like things didn’t go very well for them – perhaps the main character in The Avengers Project will be one of a new generation of heroes that rises up to rescue or replace them?
We’ll have to wait for Marvel or Square Enix to reveal more details, but until then the possibilities are pretty darn exciting.
