A part of the new deal between Marvel and Sony means Spider-Man will finally be integrated in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – and now a shortlist of actors who are in the running for the sought-after role has arrived online.
According to The Wrap (opens in new tab), Nat Wolff (The Fault In Out Stars), Asa Butterfield (Ender’s Game), Liam James (The Way Way Back), Tom Holland (The Impossible) and Timothee Chalamet (TV’s Homeland) are among the names being eyeballed. Things are at such an early stage that the youngsters haven’t even received offers to go and test for the part, but that’s expected to happen next week.
The trade goes on to describe all five as “strong contenders who are definitely in the mix as of right now” and that essentially means it’s fair game for any of the lads on the list. The results should be in fairly soon as Spidey is touted to make his MCU debut in Captain America: Civil War. With production about to kick off in Atlanta on Cap’s third outing, we could find out in a matter of weeks who will step into that iconic red and blue spandex.
