Warner Bros. has finally released a new trailer for Justice League, and it’s packed with a bunch of surprisingly cool moments.
Some may argue that trailers for Zack Snyder’s movies end up being better than the movies themselves, but it appears the director has learned some lessons from Batman v Superman (opens in new tab)’s critical beating and applied them to this movie in a way that might actually deliver for fans.
Let’s take a look at some of this trailer’s best moments:
Bruce Wayne smiling (kinda)
It’s a small thing, but with BvS taking everything so damn seriously all the time, this could signal a new direction for the franchise.
Cyborg’s arrived
I thought Cyborg had the worst introduction scene of any of the new heroes in BvS, so I’m excited to see what he can do in this movie.
Faster than a speeding bullet
The trailer includes a familiar intro for The Flash which we’ve seen before, but here we get to see the Scarlet Speedster actually outrunning blasts from close range. Pretty rad.
Aquaman in action
Ever since our first look at Aquaman, I’ve been dying for more and this trailer did not disappoint as we see him kicking ass with his trident.
Most importantly, there’s some teamwork
One of my biggest complaints about BvS was that Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman didn’t work together very well to defeat Doomsday at the end. But this movie is about a team, and it’s great to see a loner like Batman teaming up with Aquaman and using the Batmobile as a launch pad to take down some winged baddies. To me, this is a promising sign, and enough to make me cautiously optimistic about the movie as a whole.
I don’t know if you noticed but there is one member of the JL who doesn’t appear in the trailer. It looks like Warner Bros. is keeping Superman’s return under wraps for now, but Amy Adams’ Lois Lane got a cameo (as well as Amber Heard’s Queen Mera, J. K. Simmons’ Gordon, and Billy Crudup’s Henry Allen).
Oh, and I did a mention there’s a new poster too?
Directed by Zack Snyder and starring Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, and Ray Fisher, Justice League blasts into theaters on November 17, 2017.
