We don’t know much about DC’s big screen adaptation of Aquaman, but we may have discovered who the film’s villain will be and it’s one of DC’s classic bad guys.
Possible spoilers below…
At least JoBlo (opens in new tab) reckon they’re in-the-know, claiming Jason Momoa’s hero will square off against none other than his own brother, Orm. “I’m told that Ocean Master aka Orm Curry aka Aquaman’s half-brother is the villain that’s currently being developed to square off with the King of Atlantis in his first solo outing,” the website claims. We should remember though that it’s still early days and this is only a rumour.
In fact, as we learned from Collider (opens in new tab) this week, the screenplay is still very much a work in progress and isn’t as far along as you may think. Producer Charles Roven said: “We’re very early days. We’re just starting with the screenplay. He’s [James Wan] making The Conjuring 2 now, so he’s had his hand in the creation of let’s just call it a working document from which to write. But he’s directing that film [and] he’s got his hand ever so slightly in the development, but he’s really gonna throw himself into it after he finishes shooting Conjuring 2. And we’re planning on it being his film after Conjuring 2. He is a serious Aquaman fan.”
In truth it’s probably far too early to be unearthing the plot, but this is obviously great news for James Wan fans. We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for this one. Directed by Wan and starring Jason Momoa, Aquaman hits the US on July 27 2018, with a UK release date yet to be confirmed.
