Groot may take on a pest control role after his, er, pruning at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy, judging by a scene sketch from the director. James Gunn, who is also directing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, said he sketches “thousands” of these little images in the process of working on a film, and they give him “an idea of how the scene flows, what’s smooth, what’s jumbled, and even what works comedically”.
Here’s what he posted on Facebook (opens in new tab):
Gunn refused to expand on what’s happening in this scene, instead encouraging fans to try and match up the thumbnail with the final shot when the movie comes out. It looks like sapling Groot (opens in new tab) has wrangled a varmint of some kind, and is perhaps even presenting his rodent quarry to the viewer. Hopefully he announces his victory with a proud little “I am Groot”, because I’m really looking forward to hearing Vin Diesel’s rumbling voice emerge from that tiny body.
Directed by James Gunn and starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will hit UK theaters on April 28, 2017 and open in the US on May 5, 2017.
