This article includes spoilers for the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot!
The new Ghostbusters (opens in new tab) movie is classed as a reboot of the franchise, yet that hasn’t ruled out the possibility of winks to the first two films. It’s no secret that most of the original cast members dropped by the set to shoot cameos. Heck, even Slimer’s back in the thick of it, half-chewed food falling from his mouth while he careens around New York City.
But wait – there’s more! Thanks to a new TV trailer, it’s now confirmed that another of series’ big bads is back to stomp about the Big Apple. Who, you ask? Watch the clip below…
The Stay Puft marshmallow man returns, fleetingly, before the new gang take out the iconic ‘logo ghost’ towards the end of the clip. It’s been a surprise to see so many big moments in the movie making their way into pre-release marketing. One of the aforementioned cameos from the 1984 team was recently used to wrap up another short TV teaser, which again seems a little unusual; wouldn’t Sony want to save the juiciest bits for the theater?
Directed by Paul Feig and starring Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, Neil Casey, Andy Garcia and Chris Hemsworth, Ghostbusters opens in UK and US cinemas on July 15, 2016.
