Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them could be on the brink of landing a director, with Alfonso Cuarón reportedly in talks to helm the project.
According to reporter Nikki Finke, the Oscar-winning director is “deep in talks” with Warner, having previously directed third film in the original series, The Prisoner Of Azkaban .
That film is oft held up as one of the best entries in the franchise, with Cuarón bringing a welcome dose of menace to proceedings with his memorable realisation of the Dementors…
He’d certainly be a popular choice with fans, and would make for quite the creative team alongside producer David Heyman and J.K. Rowling herself.
Rowling is currently putting the finishing touches to a script that will focus upon adventurer Newt Scamander, with the project set to begin filming early next year.
Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them will open in the UK on 18 November 2016.
