]]> The Expendables 2 is flexing its well-oiled muscles for an all-out assault on the summer box office, and in order to whet our appetites further, has released a cool new banner poster posing its key players in a mock-up of the Last Supper.

And so, we have Stallone in the unlikely role of Jesus, while the rest of his gun-toting posse sit on either side, seemingly itching for a scrap. Dolph Lundgren looks ready to carve the meat, while Chuck Norris just looks plain ready…

The new film will see Stallone’s band of brothers brought together by Bruce Willis’ Mr. Church when he decides the time is right to call in an old favour. Said favour is of course highly dangerous, given that it includes a villainous Jean-Claude Van Damme and a job lot of plutonium.

The new poster follows the cool grindhouse effort that surfaced at Comic-Con , and its pleasing to see Lionsgate marketing this one with their tongues suitably in cheeks. It isn’t fine art, after all… semi-sacrilegious posturing is very much the order of the day.

Directed by Simon West and co-starring loads and loads of guns, The Expendables 2 opens in the UK on 16 August 2012. Lock and load!

The Expendables 2 has debuted a new image, featuring grizzled old-timers Sly Stallone, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger firing three massive guns… at the same time!

The new image features the trio unleashing hell on an unseen target whilst practising their best “I’m hard, me” expressions. Arnie in particular looks as though he’s never been away.

The Expendables 2 follows Bruce Willis’ character, Church, as he reunites the Expendables for what should be an easy paycheque. This being an action film, the mission isn’t quite as easy as was billed, and one of the team is murdered on the job.

Naturally, the Expendables aren’t about to let such a thing slide, and the new mission becomes a quest for revenge. This time, as they say, it’s personal.

Directed by Con Air ‘s Simon West, and co-starring the likes of Jason Statham, Chuck Norris, Dolph Lundgren and Jean-Claude van Damme, The Expendables 2 will open in the UK on 17 August 2012. Let the scenery-chewing commence!
