If you’ve got your hands on an Ivory Key but you’re not sure what it can be used for, worry not. The Ivory Keys are used to unlock the box in the White House pictured above. It requires eight of them to open in total, and we do know what’s inside the locked box but we’ll leave that till the end of the guide so we don’t spoil it.
To find this locked box, enter through the main White House entrance, walk past the Quartermaster and Vendor, then take a right. This is where the Barber will be once you get him, and it’s also where you can find the locked box, on a small table.
Actually obtaining eight Ivory Keys to unlock this box full of wonder is easier said than done. You have to take down Hunters, which are level 35 secret bosses and nigh-on impossible to find without a guide. As I write this, there’s a lot of confusion around how to obtain all eight Ivory Keys, so I’ll attempt to shed some light on the situation.
Before the first major Division 2 patch on launch day (Friday, March 15), it was possible to obtain eight Ivory Keys by jumping into another person’s game and killing the Hunters that you’d already killed in your own game. This meant that you could farm the same few Hunters multiple times, and earn eight Ivory Keys that way. This method has since been patched out.
Killing Hunters in somebody else’s game will not reward you with an Ivory Key – although you will get other high-end loot – so you have to kill eight different Hunters in your game. While there’s 12 Hunters you have to kill to obtain all 12 masks, only one Ivory Key will drop per encounter for a total of eight.

We’ve covered how to kill all 12 hunters in our guide to the Division 2 masks (opens in new tab), and doing so will reward you with eight Ivory Keys. Only the final hunter you kill from the Midas/Revenant and Death/Phantom/Cross/Diamond encounters will drop an Ivory Key.
If it’s your first time taking down the hunters, no matter who the leader of the group is, you should get an Ivory Key. There’s still some confusion surrounding this though so if anybody in your group doesn’t get one Ivory Key for each hunter encounter, that player needs to invite all the players to their group then kill the hunter again.
Of course, obtaining eight Ivory Keys in The Division 2 isn’t really worth it if the rewards are naff. If you want to find out the contents of the box, take a look at the image below. If you don’t, we’d recommend scrolling back up the page!

You’ll be able to get your hands on the Shield Splinterer – F2000 assault rifle. We recommend waiting until World Tier 5 before opening it, so you receive it at the highest gear score possible. You’ll also obtain a white weapon skin, and the Hunter’s Axe backpack trophy. If you use assault rifles then this F2000 is more than worth it, but if not… it’s still cool to keep in your stash.

]]>The post The Division 2 is free to play through this Sunday appeared first on Game News.
]]>It kicks off today and Ubisoft has announced that the free trial will continue through to Monday, March 2.
As always, any progress you make in the free trial will carry into the full game if you decide to pick it up. And if you think you’ll want to buy the full game, you ought to do so now, as it’s currently 95% off digitally. Even if you aren’t looking for another long-term grind, $3 is a borderline criminal price for a game our own Sam Loveridge described as “a seriously accomplished looter shooter, with a gameplay loop that keeps on giving, and an endgame that will keep you playing for months (or years) to come” in her The Division 2 review (opens in new tab).
This will be the last free weekend before the release of The Division 2’s first big expansion: Warlords of New York (opens in new tab). As you may have guessed, this will whisk agents back to the Big Apple, where the first game took place. And as our resident Division enthusiast explained, Warlords of New York is the perfect reason to play The Division 2 again (opens in new tab) – or try it for the first time.
If you try the game this weekend and decide you want the full experience, but also want to jump straight into Warlords of New York when it launches on March 3, you’re in luck. Buying the expansion will also get you a character boost consumable that’ll shoot you straight to level 30, which is right where you need to be to tackle the expansion. You can also purchase a character boost separately via the in-game store, but it’s a much better deal to just buy the expansion.
Here are all The Division 2 tips (opens in new tab) you need to get started in Ubisoft’s post-pandemic playground.

]]>Pentagon: The Last Castle brings you to, you guessed it, the Pentagon, where the fall of Washington D.C. continues. Your Division Agents must try to discover the secrets inside the Pentagon before the Black Tusk take it over – and they’re already inside the building’s top-secret lab. There are also two Classified Assignment missions that come with Episode 2 for Year 1 pass holders: Marina and Embassy.
The update also offers a new specialization for Year 1 pass holders for free. The Technician hits the ground with a P-017 Launcher, a Maxim 9 sidearm, and an EMP Grenade, and is intended to fill a support role, with a Hive skill that can buff teammates. Players who don’t have the Year 1 pass can complete a series of objectives in order to unlock the Technician.
Episode 2 isn’t the only big thing coming to The Division 2 – Title Update 6 (opens in new tab) is also live for all players. This massive update includes major fixes and improvements based on community feedback and an ‘Elite Task Force’ workshop, which brought The Division 2 players to Ubisoft Massive’s Malmo studio (talk about crowd-sourcing).
Title Update 6 includes:
There’s also a new PvP mode that pits two teams of four against each other in a best-of-seven battle in the middle of Washington D.C, plus a new map called ‘Wharf.’ Check out the full patch notes here (opens in new tab).
If you’re looking to try out The Division 2, Xbox Live Gold members can play the game for free from October 17 to October 20. Afterwards, the game will be available at up to a 70% discount on the PlaySTation Store, Microsoft Store, Uplay Store, and Epic Games Store.
See how The Division 2 turned Washington into a breathtaking post-pandemic playground (opens in new tab).

]]>The post The Division 2 secret boss finally uncovered after staying hidden for over two months appeared first on Game News.
]]>Dempsey figured it was time to address the elusive boss and gave a few hints about where to find it. Sure enough, about 90 minutes later it was found in the Manning National Zoo mission by a Redditor (opens in new tab).
The Agony is the boss in question, and it can only be activated by shooting all five beehives in the zoo and interacting with the Western Honey Bee enclosure. The Redditor who initially posted the discovery, named ArcLight079, seemed a little disappointed by the boss that evaded him successfully for over 60 days. Apparently the convoluted process to discovering The Agony belies the boss’s fairly standard setup – a tank carrying an RPG and stinger hive dressed in a hazmat suit.
The developer went on to give a general rule-of-thumb for discovering secrets in The Division 2, saying, “The only other tip I will give, is if you find yourself in one of our levels and you have about a football field’s length in which you are doing nothing, you should probably look around.”

]]>The post Division 2 BTSU Datagloves guide: How to get the Exotic Gloves appeared first on Game News.
]]>
The Division 2 BTSU Datagloves are focused wholly on skills, so if you haven’t specced into a skill build, it’s not worth rocking these bad boys. If you have though, then the BTSU Datagloves have three worthy talents:
As you can see, skills are the name of the game with the Division 2 Exotic Gloves. It works best with offensive skills, but will still come in handy whether you’re rocking the revive hive, explosive seeker mines, or something else entirely.

While there’s only a few reports of people obtaining the Division 2 BTSU Exotic Gloves at this point, the method seems to be the same for everyone: Cross your fingers for a lucky drop at the end of the Camp White Oak mission. Multiple people are claiming they’ve got the BTSU Datagloves from random Black Tusk enemies while others are saying it has to be the final boss, but either way, you need to play through Camp White Oak to unlock it. It seems to be available on all difficulties, though as is the case with most exotics, the chance of obtaining it will probably be higher if you play on harder difficulties.
Good luck, Agent! The gloves don’t seem too difficult to obtain, so just keep running Camp White Oak until you get it.

]]>The post Devs are looking for “solutions” to Division 2 raid matchmaking but wont ease the difficulty for console players appeared first on Game News.
]]>“I think the important part is that we know players want to see the content, they want to play the raid, and I don’t blame them, it’s a lot of fun,” Massive told us. “We’re working on solutions for matchmaking without a doubt. I would hate for players to be thrown into traditional matchmaking schemes for something as hard as what our raid is and so it needs to be treated with care. I’m happy we’ve taken the approach we have and I’m looking forward to getting the solution out there so more players can play.”

There’s no word on what that solution is or when it will be introduced, but they’ve at least confirmed they’re trying to implement something. Another hot topic surrounding the Division 2 raid however is the difficulty level, because PC players managed to complete the raid in around five hours, whereas it took those on console over three days. That’s right, three whole days. Unfortunately for those struggling on consoles, Massive has also told us they won’t be making the raid easier in any way.
“I think it’s a difference just between platform. I wouldn’t want to make any mechanical changes to the content, I think the console players, they have some challenges that I know they can overcome, it’s just getting to that point. That’s always tough. That’s the debate raging on universally, PC master race and all that kind of stuff. I’m happy to see our console players doing it, I play on console and we do a tremendous amount of testing on console. We make sure to put controllers in the hands of our testers so it’s not just mouse and keyboard, we know everything they’re feeling. When we start getting metrics for how long a raid takes to finish, how a boss fight plays, it’s with sticks in our hands, as opposed to mouse and keyboard. We test it all.”
There you have it. If you can’t finish the raid, Massive essentially wants you to “git gud”, but the upcoming “solution” to raid matchmaking may help you find skilled players to complete it with later down the line. Here’s hoping it comes out before the next raid which was revealed to be part of episode two when they announced all of the upcoming Division 2 episodes (opens in new tab) for year one.

You’ll meet Buddy and Lucy inside the airport, when they emerge from two shops. These two warhounds work together; while Lucy will deploy her minigun that spins in a full circle and can one-hit-kill anyone caught in the fire, Buddy will heal both himself and Lucy.
This wouldn’t be too much of a problem by itself because you’d simply have to outlast them, but there’s an extra mechanic here that makes the fight so much more difficult. Intersecting both of their health bars are two lines that will slowly move down the bars, gradually shrinking in size. This is the “overcharge window”.
If either Buddy’s or Lucy’s health leaves the overcharge window, overcharge will be activated. ISAC will give you a short warning and you can prevent it by having two players rush to the terminals in the middle of the arena, but if you fail, both warhounds will be healed to full and you’ll need to start the fight from the beginning.
Therefore, during the fight, it’s recommended that you focus on both warhounds simultaneously. Since Buddy is the healer and more often than not heals himself, our favoured strategy is to have five players shooting at Buddy while the other three focus on Lucy. Make sure you don’t let the health bars leave the overcharge window and you should be golden. If you’re struggling, try splitting them team six/two.
Aside from this, staying in cover is absolutely vital for this boss battle. Lucy’s 360 degree minigun attack is lethal and can very quickly ruin your attempt, so as soon as she ducks down and prepares it, find cover imminently. Good luck!

]]>The post The Division 2 test servers are coming to PC soon, heres how you can get in appeared first on Game News.
]]>It’s a good time for Ubisoft to drop this news. The Division 2 has had a rough week in terms of bugs, glitches, and balance concerns: there are overpowered enemies that have a nasty habit of rushing down players (opens in new tab) with no regard for cover, glitches that temporarily took daily and weekly projects offline (opens in new tab), and some weird loot balancing that makes farming low-level items on a new character (opens in new tab) the best way to boost your damage.
“We’ve seen the conversation in our community with the balancing in the game and everything. And there’s a lot of this conversation that we would prefer to have before the update comes out,” live content manager Yannick Banchereau said in The Division 2’s latest State of the Game update. “So there’s a lot of those things that we would rather put on a PTS, and then we would have that feedback and we can act on it and fix it for the upcoming update.”
Sometime ahead of Title Update 3 later this month, the PTS client will appear as a separate, optional download on the Uplay launcher for all PC players (it won’t be available on the Epic Games Store, but if you own it there you also have it on Uplay). Your progress from the live servers will automatically be copied over onto the PTS, but don’t expect it to follow you back. And not everything in Title Update 3, or the updates that follow, will be available for testing.
“No, the raid is not gonna be available on the PTS, we’re not gonna spoil it on the PTS, so that one will remain secret,” Banchereau added. “But what’s very important to us is to test the overall stability and the overall quality of the update, and all the balancing and all the potential new items we’re adding, these kinds of things. We want people to experiment with them and tell us if these are comfortable, if they’re balanced in a proper way, or if they’re already figuring out ways to make broken builds and things like that.”
Even if you’re playing on console and can’t participate in the PTS yourself, you can watch streams or read discussion about the potential changes – Banchereau confirmed that there aren’t any non-disclosure agreements for PTS players.

]]>Jumping into The Division 2 open beta is quite easy. Just pick your preferred platform (PC, PS4, and Xbox One are supported) then go to the download shop, search for “The Division 2 open beta”, and start downloading. Note that if you’re playing on PC you’ll need to go through Uplay, Ubisoft’s dedicated launcher. You’ll need about 48GB of storage space free for the download.
If you played in The Division 2 closed beta, keep an eye out for these new additions to the game:
Everything that was in the closed beta is also available in the open beta. Plus, you don’t have to wait to unlock the ability to try out a level 30 agent and endgame mission now. Here’s what was included in the closed beta.

Your progress in The Division 2 open beta won’t carry over to the full game. Would you even want to keep playing without ever getting to customize your character’s appearance anyway? But I digress, your efforts will still be rewarded once The Division 2 comes out with some fun cosmetic items. Some of them you can earn just by playing once and others which will require you to make some decent headway into the beta.

]]>The post The Division 2 director explains how the sequel fixed the bullet sponge problem appeared first on Game News.
]]>“There were a lot of not unjustified comments on that,” he said. “I think the gunplay’s improved in many ways, but I think one way that’s subtle but makes an incredible difference to the feel of the game is to reduce the impression of bullet sponginess. That isn’t just a question of fewer bullets, though time-to-kill has been adjusted. You’re going to kill enemies much faster, but they’re going to kill you much faster too, which really puts the emphasis on cover-based gameplay.
“The other thing is, there are many more animations,” Gerighty continues. “Hit animations, movement animations. Some other shooters, they’re bullet spongy as well but you don’t notice it because those enemies recoil when they get hit. There’s a lot of craftsmanship that goes into masking the RPG number side of things.”

In the demo I played at the event in question, I also saw a few promising abilities designed to deal with heavily armored enemies. The chem launcher, for example, can create corrosive, armor-eating clouds. I’m hoping other tech options offer similar solutions to big tanky dudes.
There’s also the more robust animations which Gerighty described. The final boss of my demo mission was a heavily armored dude named Saint, and between my chem launcher and both me and my teammates’ guns, Saint was constantly staggering and did not last long. As Gerighty explained, this was partly thanks to The Division 2’s more strategic armor system.
“One other thing is the heavies,” he said. “The armor is localized, so they have pieces on their arms, chest, head. You need to melt that way, and you’ll see it snap away. You’ll have this visible indication that, OK, it’s bullet spongy, but there’s a reason why it’s bullet spongy. It’s armor. And once you get rid of that, you hit that chewy center in the middle and that’s it. That enemy’s going to go down.”
I was almost surprised how quickly Saint died, especially after my experiences with the flamethrower dudes in the first game. It was certainly refreshing. The abundance of bullet sponges was one of my biggest criticisms when The Division first launched, so I was always hoping the sequel would tone them down. At the very least, the fact that me and three random pickups could utterly delete Saint using little more than decent aim and suitable tech bodes well.
We played The Division 2 endgame (opens in new tab) earlier this year, and finally seeing it in action cleared up some of our other worries as well.
