The post The Boys showrunner reveals the one note Amazon gave for the shows Herogasm orgy appeared first on Game News.
]]>“The one note we got from Amazon, which was a good note, was, ‘In every moment, we have to understand that this is a superhero orgy, and not just an orgy,'” Kripke told Variety (opens in new tab) of the literally-balls-to-the-wall episode.
That feedback even made its way onto the screen in some surprising (and unsurprisingly NSFW) ways. As Kripke explains, “We actually added afterwards, a lot of new gags and visual effects. I love that there’s that floating Starlight vibrator that’s just cruising around the party. That was not originally scripted or in there. We added that in VFX later. There’s a lot of moments like that that are just kind of happening in the background.”
Herogasm, the sixth episode of The Boys season 3, was hyped up in a big way in the days leading up to its release. The sex-and-supes shenanigans not only lived up to that – but surpassed it. The episode was widely praised by fans upon its release and is currently sitting pretty at the top of the IMDb rankings for the Prime Video series so far.

]]>The post The Boys season 3 cast adds Katia Winter as mob boss Little Nina appeared first on Game News.
]]>Fans of the comics will remember Little Nina as the short but formidable Russian mob boss with a proclivity for sex toys – particularly vibrators. The boss works in tandem with Vought (the evil corporation behind Compound V) to create her own version of their super-creation-serum, but with lesser success. Little Nina’s compound works, but subjects who take it find themselves with a nasty case of exploding head.
Due to her short-lived and, well, explosive arc, Winter is currently listed in a guest star capacity for the upcoming season. Whether or not The Boys intends to follow her comic arc to the letter remains to be seen.
The Boys season 3 has been filming since late February of this year, with Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Erin Moriarty, Antony Starr, Karen Fukuhara, and the rest of the major players returning to continue the fight against the evil Vought. Aya Cash, known for her role as Stormfront, is currently unsure of her ability to return to the project. The actress is not on-site filming with the rest of the crew, and recently announced some scheduling concerns to EW that shed doubt on the character’s reoccurrence.
“I’m not there now,” Cash said. “I’m on a new Fox show now called This Country. My contract for The Boys was only for a year so, who knows? Maybe they can CGI my face in.”

]]>The post The Boys creator reveals why he took a “perverse pleasure” in casting Patton Oswalt as [SPOILER] appeared first on Game News.
]]>Patton Oswalt had the honour of voicing the character who played a pivotal role in the Deep’s reawakening, and The Boys creator Eric Kripke has revealed why it was the right fit.
Spoilers for The Boys season 2, episode 2 (opens in new tab) follow…
If you’ve watched The Boys’ second episode, you’ll likely already be scarred for life by Deep’s duet with his own talking gills, courtesy of a Church of the Collective drug trip.
The gills, voiced by Patton Oswalt, are a far cry from his previous voice acting credits, including Ratatouille and various other Disney movies. But, for Kripke, that’s why it was such an inspired choice.
“I took a certain perverse pleasure that the guy who was the lead voice in Ratatouille comes in to voice the Deep’s mangina,” Kripke told Collider (opens in new tab). “I mean the guy who was in the Secret Life of Pets 2, a real evergreen superstar when it comes to animated voices. The idea of him being this animated male vagina on this guy’s chest, it was really hilarious to me, man.”
Speaking with GamesRadar+ recently, Chace Crawford – who plays the Deep – also spoke about filming the scene. “They told me that they’d gotten [Patton] for that,” he said. “But he hadn’t recorded his stuff yet, so I think the director was reading – or someone was just reading – the lines.
“They did have a guy there who was like a singer. He was singing. He was the only one that was singing the actual gills part, because we had to meld our voices. So it was really bizarre in between takes. I was like, ‘Am I in key, man? Let’s rehearse it real quick.’ So he was trying to keep me in key, and it was all sorts weird. I wanted to make it heart-breaking and vulnerable as well. I think, after seeing it, for better or worse, it worked out. It was definitely one of the stranger things I’ve ever had to do.”
The Boys, meanwhile, is set to return for its fourth episode this week after dropping its first batch of episodes on September 4. For more on the change, check out The Boys season 2 release schedule. (opens in new tab)

]]>The post The Boys season 2 cast member reveals one deleted scene that didnt make the cut appeared first on Game News.
]]>“We’ve talked about so many of our shocking moments, especially the whale and the boat scene, but I just remembered, this was cut… I had a scene with a mouse, so working with a real live animal and it being a mouse, that was pretty shocking to me,” Fukuhara told Digital Spy (opens in new tab).
“The scene had something to do with my past,” Fukuhara continued. “So when we were in The Boys’ hideout, a mouse just appears. It’s a street mouse. Kimiko finds a connection there.”
All in all, pretty tame compared to some of the blood and guts on show in The Boys. Last year, showrunner and creator Eric Kripke revealed the very NSFW scene (opens in new tab) that was ultimately cut from the first season.
Kimiko’s mouse moment is not the only deleted scene from The Boys season 2. We’re also getting a Billy Butcher short film (opens in new tab) that is made up of a series of cut scenes and follows the brash Brit after the events of The Boys season 1 ending (opens in new tab).
The first three episodes of The Boys season 2 lands on Amazon Prime Video on September 4.

]]>Those of you hoping Amazon’s superhero series would soar yet again can rest easy. The critical response is largely positive, focusing on the show diving deeper into what makes the Seven and Billy Butcher tick, while also maintaining its trademark sense of blood and brutal action scenes.
If you’re looking for GamesRadar’s review of The Boys season 2 (opens in new tab) then you have a little longer to wait. We’re taking a slightly different approach: individual reviews of the first three episodes will be up around release day, September 4, so we can go into more depth alongside those are intent on watching it as soon as it lands next Friday.
Without further ado, here’s our round-up of The Boys season 2 reviews.
“Perhaps the most important thing that Season 2 does is push the show’s scope beyond the realm of capes and tights; its messages aren’t subtle, but then again, neither is putting on a costume and fighting crime. And to be honest, right now maybe the subtle path isn’t the best direction to go, in a number of respects. Maybe what we as a culture really need, right now, is for Karl Urban to headbutt us, grin, and tell us not to worry.” Read the full review here (opens in new tab).
“Saying much more about The Boys season 2 would spoil it. If like us, though, the first season of the show surprised you by being a bloodbath with heart, that hasn’t changed here. Enough about this cynical world of superheroes has moved on, however, to make the threat level feel higher.” Read the full review here (opens in new tab).
“As a whole, the second season of The Boys is a solid improvement on the first: Smarter, sharper, and more engaged with its stories and characters—not to mention [Aya] Cash swooping in and pulling off a sneak MVP performance with her devilishly dry turn as Stormfront. But even [Karl] Urban’s Butcher, so single-minded and reductive in season one, finally gets to start digging into some ambiguities with his grizzled antihero, teasing out the guy’s darker side while finding ways to reveal some weaknesses.” Read the full review here (opens in new tab).
“After last season’s shocking reveal that Billy Butcher’s wife Becca is not only still alive but also raising Homelander’s son, we wondered how that might affect each man differently. For Homelander, well, let’s just say a sociopathic superman doesn’t make the greatest dad in the world, but it’s still fascinating to watch him try. Starr has that rare ability to make you cringe, laugh, and gasp all in one scene. Next to The Deep, he’s one of the most captivating characters to watch due to the fact that you’re never quite sure what his true motivations are.” Read the full review here (opens in new tab).
“Fortunately, it’s not simply a case of the new season pleasing established fans of the show, which it certainly will; it may also win over those who were on the fence after finding few characters to like in season one.” Read the full review here (opens in new tab).

]]>The post New The Boys season 2 trailer highlights Homelanders new rival and NSFW laser action appeared first on Game News.
]]>It’s Homelander and Billy Butcher, though, that take centre stage in the new The Boys season 2 trailer during its first half. Understandably so, given the season 1 ending that saw Butcher’s world turned upside down and his missing wife return with a son in tow.
From there, the trailer spirals out into the sort of chaos we’ve come to love from The Boys: a whole lot of blood – probably more than the first season combined in this trailer alone – and some gross-out moments, not least of all Stormfront (played by Aya Cash) demanding Homelander laser her chest – and him complying. Who had “laser tits” on their Boys bingo card?
Judging by this trailer, Stormfront isn’t going to be a bit-part member of the Seven, either. Translucent’s replacement is seen giving political-style rallying cries to the braying masses as well as serving up some lightning to The Female in one quite literally shocking scene.
Most of all, though, it’s exactly what we want from a second helping of The Boys: more shootouts, more action, and a lot more swearing. The Boys return for season 2 for its first three episodes on September 4 with new episodes airing weekly. In the meantime, check out the best shows on Amazon Prime.
