The next installment of The Walking Dead series has launched in the form of a new massively interactive live event available through Facebook Gaming.

The Walking Dead: Last Mile kicked off on July 11, 2022, and is available to take part in for free. All you need is a Facebook account. The next chapter in The Walking Dead series sees players tune into a daily, choice-based narrative experience which is set to take place over the course of the next four months.

Being developed in collaboration with Genvid Entertainment, Skybound Entertainment, and of course Meta, the idea of the project is that it isn’t quite a game, isn’t quite a TV show, it’s somewhere in between. Players can create avatars to join the universe and make decisions about the adventure unfolding in front of them. The story will also be explored through a series of live streams which are being hosted by actors Yvette Nicole Brown and Felicia Day.

One of the appeals of The Walking Dead: Last Mile (opens in new tab) is that it actually does exist within the wider The Walking Dead universe. So whatever the story’s outcome turns out to be in a few months’ time, it will technically line up with the story from the original The Walking Dead comics. It’s also pretty simple to get involved, all you need is access to either the desktop site or the Facebook app on mobile to join in.

There’s been a tonne of other The Walking Dead games over the years from mobile games, FPS games, choice-based games, and more. Aside from The Walking Dead: Last Mile though, we’ve also got another The Walking Dead game to look forward to as The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners gets a sequel for PSVR 2 later this year.

If you’re looking for something else to play, take a look at our best zombie games list.

A Terminator survival game is in the works, as Nacon’s Milan studio announced during today’s Nacon Connect showcase.

The reveal was paired with an extremely brief teaser trailer which – you guessed it – has a Terminator robot in it… and that’s about it. This mystery Terminator game doesn’t even have a title yet, even. It’s currently going by Terminator Survival Project, which seems pretty accurate.

Nacon Milan’s only previous game is the generally well-received motorbike sim Rims Racing (opens in new tab), though Nacon in general has many games under its belt. In an announcement post on its website, the studio says its upcoming Terminator game is set in “a post-apocalyptic open world and features an original story that builds on the events of the official films.”

“You play as a group of nuclear apocalypse survivors fighting to stay alive in a time period between Judgment Day and the creation of John Connor’s resistance,” the summary continues.

Terminator Survival Project

(opens in new tab)

That’s where the official details end, apart from the above snippet of artwork from Nacon Milan’s website, which shows two survivors taking cover in a thoroughly destroyed city as a Terminator stands around menacingly.

This art says the game is “coming soon,” but the games industry has never really agreed on what soon means, so we probably shouldn’t expect to see it for a while. The description for the trailer notes that it’s just a “new big project under development,” and with it lacking even an official title, we can safely assume it’s far from finished.

We’re also waiting on the strategy game Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance, which is also out this year.

The Minecraft Caves and Cliffs part 2 update, aka Minecraft 1.18, shook up the whole blocky world a lot, introducing some fairly radical world changes. A deeper underground and higher sky ceiling, refreshed ore distribution, and eight new types of biomes were the headline features of the 1.18 update, and we’ve got all of the details on these Minecraft changes here. You’ll discover smooth or jagged configurations while ascending mountains, and more diverse cave systems  to explore while spelunking. Whether you’re a seasoned adventurer or returning to the game following an extended break, here’s the lowdown on all of the biggest changes introduced with the Minecraft Caves and Cliffs Part 2 update.

When did Minecraft Caves and Cliffs part 2 release?

The Caves and Cliffs part 2 update, or Minecraft 1.18, released on November 30, 2021. You can now explore all of the new biomes, taller mountains, and larger caves made possible with this update, and there are plenty of new things to see which we’ll explain below.

There are 8 new biomes available in Minecraft Caves and Cliffs update part 2

One of the biggest sets of new additions that arrived with the Minecraft Caves and Cliffs update part 2 are the eight new biomes that have been added into the game. You can find fresh underground Dripstone Cave biomes, and several new mountain biomes. Aquifers and new cave types have also arrived with this update, to make the subterranean biomes of Minecraft more interesting. Here’s what you need to know about each one:

Noise caves and aquifers are new cave features

Minecraft Caves and Cliffs part 2 update lava lake in giant cavern

Noise caves are a new way of generating caves that leads to greater natural variety out in the world, and there are three food-themed variations of them: Cheese, Spaghetti, and Noodle. Cheese caves, much like real-life Swiss cheese, are large holes that lead to cavern formations of differing sizes. Contrarily, Spaghetti caves are long and relatively narrow paths that go all over the place. Lastly, Noodle caves are very similar to Spaghetti caves except they are thinner and “squigglier”. This new system mixes in with the original cave and canyon generating systems to create much more diverse cave systems found in a world.

Aquifers are another new feature that can be found in caves with the Minecraft 1.18 update. These bodies of water form in noise cave areas with their own local water level that’s independent of sea level. Depending on the size of the cave system, this can result in giant underground lakes, although aquifers can also generate inside mountains and at the surface. You also have a chance of stumbling across a lava aquifer if you’re below y0.

Dripstone Cave Biome

You can find Dripstone Cave biomes underground in the Overworld now the Minecraft 1.18 update has gone live. These biomes are (unsurprisingly) full of Dripstone, a rock block that allows Pointed Dripstone to form beneath it to create stalactite-like formations. Dripstone is mainly used for decoration and occurs naturally in certain cave biomes.

In these Dripstone Cave biomes, you’ll find Dripstone, in both block and pointed forms, abundantly on the floors and ceilings. Dripstone blocks on the ceiling with water above them can form into stalactites, which will then cause stalagmites to form directly below. A pair of these formations can eventually join up to form a Dripstone column. Copper ore and small water pools are also commonly found in Dripstone cave biomes.

Lush Caves biome

As the name suggests, this underground biome type features caves filled with lush plants. Moss covers the floors and ceilings and Spore Blossoms grow on ceilings too. Your path will be lit by Glow Berries that grow on Cave Vines from the ceiling. If you’re exploring the Minecraft Overworld, you’ll know a Lush Cave is below you if you stumble across Azalea Trees as they keep their roots firmly in the caves. As such, Azalea Bushes can also be commonly found in Lush Caves. This new biome also serves as the only place to find axolotls too!

Grove biome

Minecraft Caves and Cliffs part 2 update snow hills with spruce trees

Groves are a new type of snowy biome that commonly occur on high altitude terrain but below mountain peaks or hilltops. You’ll find spruce trees, naturally-occurring powder snow, plus a lot of rabbits, foxes, and wolves in Grove biomes. Make sure you wear Leather Boots to avoid falling through the snow!

Meadow biome

Like Groves, Meadow biomes also spawn at higher altitudes near mountain ranges or up on plateaus. Meadows are full of grass and flowers, but there is a chance that a tall and lonesome oak or birch tree, often with a beehive, will be generated too. In terms of wildlife, you’ll find donkeys, rabbits, and sheep grazing on the meadow grass.

Lofty Peaks biome

The mountains you find in Lofty Peaks biomes are the kind that you might have seen in a nature documentary. They are very jagged and feature snow, stone, and goats making them their home.

Snowcapped Peaks biome

Minecraft Caves and Cliffs part 2

Serving as almost the opposite of Lofty Peaks, the Snowcapped Peaks biome contains smoother mountain peaks with ice as well as snow. However, you will still find goats.

Stony Peaks biome

This biome features lots of stony mountain peaks that vary between jagged and smooth. Like Lofty Peaks, goats are commonly found in Stony Peaks biomes. You’ll also have a chance of finding strips of decorative Calcite blocks within the stony mountains.

Snowy Slopes biome

Snowy Slope biomes are like a more extreme version of Grove biomes. Snowy Slopes generate at higher altitudes beneath mountain peaks and hilltops – just like Groves – except they feature very snowy terrain, so much so that powder snow traps can be hidden within. Leather Boots are essential to traversing these biomes safely. Look out for goats and rabbits on your travels though.

In Minecraft Caves and Cliffs part 2 update, mountains are getting taller and caves are getting bigger

Another big change that’s included with the Caves and Cliffs part 2 update in Minecraft 1.18 is that the world has received a big vertical expansion to accommodate a lot of the new biomes. Minecraft’s in-world Y-axis has been expanded by 64 blocks in both directions, creating a total vertical building range of 384 blocks, up from 256 blocks. In terms of the in-game coordinates, that’s from y-64 to y320.

You’ll notice that generated mountains can now be taller thanks to the taller ceiling, and caves go even deeper – as far down as y-64! With the raised world ceiling, clouds now spawn higher in the sky too, at y192 instead of y128. With these changes and the new biomes in update 1.18, ore veins and ore distribution is getting significant changes too.

Minecraft Caves and Cliffs part 2 update introduces large ore veins and new ore distribution

With the underground world of Minecraft expanding vertically down by 64 layers, loads of opportunities for even more mining of ores and materials will open, but the task of finding exactly what you need might be a bit trickier. In Minecraft update 1.18, new large ore veins can be discovered underground. These winding formations are rare but contain a lot more of a particular ore than usual. Mine between y0 and y50 to find Copper veins with Granite mixed in, and search within y-8 and y-60 to find Iron veins with Tuff.

Ores as a whole have seen lots of redistribution with this update, largely to compensate for the huge increase to the vertical world size. One of the key general changes to ore distribution is that individual ores have more specific layer ranges to generate in, so there won’t be a particular Y level that is good for all ores. Here’s a list of where you can find ores as of the Caves and Cliffs part 2 update:

  • Iron Ore: Below y72 with a strong bias towards y16. Also generates above y112, with increasing iron ore deposits the higher you go.
  • Copper Ore: Between y0 and y96 with a strong bias towards y48. Also look in Dripstone Cave biomes underground.
  • Lapis Lazuli: Below y64 with a strong bias towards y0. Lapis Lazuli below y-32 or above y32 can’t generate in open air and can be found buried or in water instead.
  • Coal: Above y0 with a strong bias towards y96 and above. It has reduced air exposure, so it is also more commonly found buried or underwater.
  • Gold: Below y32 with a strong bias towards y-16. Extra Gold can still be found in Badlands biomes.
  • Redstone: Below y16 and increases as you go below y-32.
  • Diamond: Below y16 with more Diamond the further down you go. Like Lapis and Coal, Diamond has reduced air exposure and is commonly found either buried or underwater.

Candles have been added for all Minecraft players in the Caves and Cliffs part 2 update

Having only been in the Java Edition of Minecraft for about a year and in beta versions of the Bedrock Edition for several months, candles are finally available for all players now Minecraft update 1.18 has released. These light sources can be crafted with a Honeycomb and a piece of String, then dyed to change their color. You can also add one on top of an uneaten cake to give it a true celebratory feel.

The new Warden mob is coming in a future update

Minecraft live 2021 Warden mob preview

Unfortunately, the new Warden mob was delayed out of the Minecraft Caves and Cliffs part 2 update, but since the Minecraft The Wild update launched, it’s in the game along with the Deep Dark.

Wardens and the Deep Dark biome aren’t the only things that didn’t quite make the cut for the 1.18 update, however. Archeology, bundles, and goat horns won’t be in Minecraft just yet either, but will come in a later update.

For those not in the know, Archeology will allow players to use a copper brush to reveal items buried in Sand, Gravel, or Dirt Blocks found within a new Archeology Site structure. Goat Horns have a chance to drop from goats after they charge into a solid object and can be used by the player to make sounds. Finally, Bundles are craftable sacks that take up one inventory slot but can hold several items of different types – useful for long journeys and extensive mining expeditions where food and material storage is essential.

Minecraft Realms are what you need if you want to set up your own private online server for you and some friends to get mining and crafting together. The main bonus of Minecraft Realms over playing in a regular online Minecraft world is that you don’t need the world’s creator to be around as Realms are always online and available to any invited members. You can hop in and hop out to your blocky heart’s content, allowing you to play when you want in a shared world. However, there’s a lot more to them than that – crucially that they’re part of a premium subscription that you’ll need to pay monthly to access. If you want to know what Minecraft Realms are, how much they cost, how to set one up, and more, we’ve got all the information you need.

Minecraft Realms and Minecraft Realms Plus explained

Minecraft Realms faq page

Minecraft Realms are private multiplayer servers that allow you to invite ten other players, giving each of them access to the always-online server. You can either create a new world as a Realm or convert one of your existing worlds into one. However, Realms are a premium feature and you must pay a monthly subscription to keep the Realm open to other players. Depending on your subscription, you can also get new content each month, including maps, mini-games, and character skins.

Your Realm will be online 24/7, so anyone that you’ve invited to join you will be able to play for free whenever they choose, regardless if you’re there or not. Because you have full control over who can play on your Realm – you can revoke access at any time – it’s also a safe space for younger gamers to gather and play with friends without the worry of who they may be interacting with.

Minecraft Realms is available on PC, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices, and you can access your Realm from any of these provided you have signed in with the same Minecraft account. Crossplay is also enabled for Realms using the Bedrock Edition of Minecraft, allowing you to invite friends no matter what platform they are playing on. Be aware that crossplay does not work between the Bedrock and Java Editions of Minecraft, so if you are a Java Edition PC player, you cannot join the Realm of a Bedrock Edition Xbox Series X or PC player, for example.

Another point to note is that Minecraft Realms – for either Minecraft edition – do not currently support mods. Bedrock Realms Plus includes an array of Marketplace packs and supports user-created content, while Java Realms includes community-created content but does not support the Minecraft Marketplace. If Minecraft mods are something you care about, you may have to look for an alternative.

Minecraft Realms price and what is included

Minecraft Realms price information page

As mentioned, you pay a monthly fee to keep your Minecraft world open as a Realm. However, there are three versions of the Realms subscription, each with their own benefits, which are listed below:

  • Realms (Bedrock Edition) = $3.99/£3.29 per month
The basic Minecraft Realms for Bedrock Edition costs $3.99/£3.29 a month and allows you to invite two more friends to gain access to your private online world. This subscription also supports Minecraft Marketplace, includes three World Slots, supports user-created content, and has crossplay across Bedrock devices and consoles.
  • Realms Plus (Bedrock Edition) = $7.99/£6.69 per month
Minecraft Realms Plus is the enhanced version of Realms and includes all the benefits of that subscription, as well as monthly Minecraft Marketplace content and access to over 150 Marketplace packs. The other big benefit is that you can invite up to 10 other players to join your Realm. You’ll get a 30-day free trial too if you’ve never previously signed up to Realms and start a Minecraft Realms Plus subscription.
  • Realms (Java Edition) = $7.99/£6.69 per month
The only Java Edition option costs the same as Realms Plus but offers a lot less. You still get to invite up to 10 Java Edition friends to join your private Realm server, 24/7 access to that server, and three World Slots, but Java Edition does not support Minecraft Marketplace. This means you can’t buy or use anything from the marketplace and you won’t get access to the monthly updates and over 150 content packs. Instead, Java Edition Realms gets free community-created content.

Remember, for any of these subscription tiers, there’s always the option to cancel later if you feel you’re not getting much use from it. After cancelling your subscription, you’ve got 18 months to download your Realm worlds before they are permanently deleted. If you sign up for Minecraft Realms again, you can replace your new world with the downloaded backup of one of your previous Realm world – more on that further down.

If you’ve opted for the 10-player subscription to Realms Plus, you should keep an eye out for the monthly updates. New maps, character skins, and mini-games are constantly being added and as they’re available for free with Realms Plus, it seems silly not to at least check out what’s on offer.

It’s worth mentioning that if you have an Xbox Game Pass or PC Game Pass subscription, you can play Minecraft for no additional cost, but you still need to pay for Realms. You can also play Minecraft for free in a limited browser-based version of the game.

Find out about the best Minecraft seeds here

If you want to start from scratch and create a new world in Realms, go ahead and start setting up the world as you want it, with difficulty, mode (Survival, Creative), along with any other options you want to add. Once you’re happy with your settings, select the ‘Create on Realms Server’ button. You’ll then be given the option of a 10-player Realm or a 2-player Realm. Once you’ve accepted the Terms and Conditions and finalised the transaction, you’ll be able to access your new Realm – and Marketplace goodies if you selected the 10-player option – straight away.

Minecraft Realms

If you want to change your current Realm world setting, you can click the ‘Edit’ button next to the name of the Realm to bring up the game setting menu. From there, you can make adjustments such as game mode, difficulty, change the name of the world or add cheats. You also get three World Slots as part of any Minecraft Realms subscription, so you’re not just limited to one world either.

How to invite friends to your Minecraft Realms

Minecraft Realms

The good news is that friends that you want to invite to your Realm don’t need their own Minecraft Realms subscription to join you. To invite friends to your Realm, click the Edit button next to your Realm world, then select ‘Members’. Here you’ll be able to invite other players and manage those that already have access to the realm. You can ‘uninvite’ players if they’ve outstayed their welcome or haven’t been active for a while on this page too.

It seems that the number of invites you can send out is almost limitless but the people that can play on your Realm simultaneously will be limited by your subscription type.

How to back up or replace your World in Minecraft Realms

Minecraft Realms

You don’t have to stick with the same World when using Minecraft Realms. If you want to start a completely new World or if you want to replace your current one with another, you can do that too. But you might want to back up your current World before doing so, otherwise you’ll lose any progress you’ve made on it.

To back up your existing World on Minecraft Realms, click the ‘Edit’ button next to your Realm world and select ‘Download World’. This will save the World to your device and you’ll be able to play it locally or re-upload it again later if you change your mind.

To replace your current World on Minecraft Realms, again click ‘Edit’ next to your Realm world and select ‘Replace World’. You will be then asked to confirm this action before being presented with a list of available worlds to replace it with. Once selected, the new world will be uploaded and you’ll be ready to go.

Minecraft frogs were added in Minecraft The Wilds Update along with things like Minecraft Allay mobs and more. However, there’s been but one thing on our minds: finding, feeding, breeding, and taming as many frogs as possible. But how to start? What do frogs eat? Hint: it’s not fireflies.

Whether you want a frog army or a garden full of croakers, here’s every frog type and everything else you need to know about Minecraft frogs.

How to find Minecraft frogs and use them

Minecraft Frogs

Minecraft frogs naturally spawn in Swamp and Mangrove Swamp biomes. You will find them near the water, where they appear in groups of two to five. Although they won’t spawn anywhere else naturally, you can take the frogs out of the swamp (leading them) and breed them in a different biome. The biome where the tadpoles grow up will then determine the type (colour) of frog you get.

Frogs aren’t the most useful mobs Minecraft has ever seen though. If you kill a frog, it may drop one to three experience orbs, but no items. However, you can use frogs to create froglights; a luminous decorative block. It has a chance of dropping whenever a frog eats a tiny magma cube.

Types of Minecraft frogs

Minecraft Frogs

There are three frog types in Minecraft: Temperate, Cold, and Warm. The type is based on the biome the tadpole grew up in, and the main difference between them is their colour. Here’s an overview:

  • Temperate frogs: orange. These frogs naturally spawn in normal Swamps. You will also get Temperate Frogs if the tadpole grew up in a mild climate such as hills, most forests, normal taiga, meadows, and plains.
  • Cold frogs: green. These frogs don’t spawn naturally. You can breed them in a snowy, frozen environment. Think of a frozen Taiga or snowy mountains.
  • Warm frogs: white. White frogs spawn naturally in Mangrove Swamps. You can also breed them in jungles, deserts, and savanna.

Can you tame frogs in Minecraft?

Minecraft Frogs

Unfortunately, frogs aren’t going to be your next Minecraft pets. Unlike mobs such as the horse, cat, and wolf, they can’t be tamed. However, you can still make them follow you by holding up frog food (more on that below). If you want, you can lure them into a pool, garden, or even your home.

Who cares about house pets if you can start a Minecraft frog farm? Yes, while you can’t tame them, you’re still able to breed frogs. All it takes is the right food: slimeballs.

After feeding slimeballs to at least two frogs, they will enter ‘love mode’ and one of the frogs will start searching for a place to lay their eggs. The eggs, or frogspawn, can only be placed on a water tile with air above it. The frogspawn will eventually transform into tadpoles, and the tadpoles will become new frogs.

A few more things you might want to know about Minecraft frog breeding:

  • The frogspawn will only appear once the pregnant frog finds a suitable water tile (so make sure they have access!).
  • One tile of frogspawn can hatch two to six tadpoles.
  • Tadpoles may be eaten by axolotl.
  • Since tadpoles count as baby’s, they don’t drop items upon death.
  • Both frogs and tadpoles will follow the slimeball.
  • You can move tadpoles in a bucket.
  • Tadpoles die when they’re left on dry land.

Only one more thing you need to figure out before you can start the frog farm: how to find slimeballs? As the name suggests, slimeballs are dropped by slimes. These green, blubbery mobs spawn in slime chunks below layer 40 or in Swamp biomes between layer 50 and 70 when the light level is 7 or less. Don’t worry too much about this; they’re pretty common in the swamp.

Earlier announcements mentioned fireflies as another food source, but this was changed shortly before Minecraft update 1.19 came out, as fireflies are poisonous to real-life frogs.

Best of luck on your search for Minecraft frogs!

A V Rising update has introduced an offline mode that lets you play without an internet connection, but it’s not providing enough options to satisfy players who want to go entirely solo.

The v0.5.41448 introduces LAN mode, which you can toggle from the host game screen, and whenever you start up a server. It’ll let you play the game either with your friends on a local network (talk to your parents about LAN parties, kids), or entirely solo.

While offline play is a nice option, it doesn’t offer solo players much benefit beyond what’s present in existing private servers. You still can’t pause the game even while offline, and the default server settings are balanced for full multiplayer worlds where everyone is grinding for rarer materials. There’s no in-game way to change server settings once you’ve started, and though it’s possible to make adjustments by directly editing your save files (opens in new tab), some players are calling for a simpler way to make those changes.

The bigger issue is that there’s no way to make the game’s passive progression timers move forward when a given server is not running. So if you send a servant out on a 24-hour mission to gather materials, you can’t just log back in the next day to see the results – you won’t enjoy the benefits on a solo server unless you actually leave it running for those 24 hours.

As part of the patch notes (opens in new tab), the developers say that “we will work on improving the LAN Mode as we continue to develop V Rising during Early Access,” though there are no details on what additional features we can expect.

For now, V Rising is focused on the multiplayer experience, and it’s been massively successful at it. The game’s already sold over 1 million copies just one week after launch.

For more details on how to make use of the V Rising offline mode, you can follow that link.

If you’re looking for Tribes of Midgard Shift codes, then you may have seen the option in the menu to redeem them and started wondering about what free rewards you can claim for your Einherjar, especially if you’re a new arrival to the game via PlayStation Plus. As Gearbox has shown us with the Tiny Tina Wonderlands Shift codes, these codes can unlock plenty of loot to help with your progress, as long as you act quickly to claim them before they expire. So, the big question is, has a similar level of support been shown for the Vikings by making Tribes of Midgard Shift codes available to all?

Someone peaked the SHiFT redemption in the SHiFT menu. 👀We don’t have any public SHiFT codes currently but are looking to use this feature in the future!July 29, 2021

Sadly, the short answer to that is no. When asked about Tribes of Midgard Shift codes soon after launch back in July 2021, developer Norsfell responded that they didn’t have any public codes but they would look into using this feature in the future. Since then, only one official public code has been released, plus some very limited use codes during a developer stream, all of which have now expired. That’s not to say there won’t be any more Tribes of Midgard Shift codes released in the future, but it seems like if there are they’ll be few and far between. Still, we’ve got details on everything that’s happened so far, and an explanation of how to redeem Tribes of Midgard Shift codes so you’ll be prepared if more drop.

If you need to know how to repair weapons in Tribes of Midgard then we’ve got all of the information on that too.

Unfortunately, at the time of writing there are no active Tribes of Midgard Shift codes available to redeem, and from what we’ve seen it appears unlikely that any more will be released in the near future. So far only a couple of Shift codes have been made available, as follows:

  • 5K6TT-W5RTC-3T3BT-BJ3JT-HR5ZH = Allfather Yule Hat (expired)
  • WW63B-JSW3C-BTBJ3-J3JBB-Z9JWC = Blue Bear Pet (expired)
  • WCFJB-CHKTW-BB3BT-BTJJT-CXT6J = Blue Bear Pet (expired)

The first of these expired Tribes of Midgard Shift codes was released via the game’s official Twitter account (opens in new tab) to celebrate the 2021 Holidays with the Allfather Yule Hat, and could only be redeemed until early January 2022. The other two Shift codes (and potentially others) were revealed in the chat alongside a developer stream in December 2021 to get the Blue Bear Pet, however those codes had a very limited number of uses and have all been fully claimed now.

That’s all there is for now, but rest assured that if any more Tribes of Midgard Shift codes are revealed then we’ll update this list accordingly.

How to redeem Tribes of Midgard Shift codes

Before you can redeem Tribes of Midgard Shift codes, should any more become available, you’ll need to set up an account on the Gearbox Shift site (opens in new tab) then log in and link your gaming platform accounts such as PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Steam, Epic Games etc. If you were already playing Tribes of Midgard when you started this process, then quit the game and reload it to automatically connect your Shift account details. On the Gearbox site, you can use the Rewards option in the left menu to open a Code Redemption prompt, to redeem Tribes of Midgard Shift codes or codes for any other supported Gearbox games.

Once your account is linked, you can also redeem Tribes of Midgard Shift codes directly within the game. From the main menu head over to the Settings tab, then within that move over to the Shift tab marked with a letter S icon. From here you can open a new screen, then select Rewards from the left menu and use the Enter Code prompt under the Redeem Codes tab. You can also view your Reward History under the next tab, should you be successful in claiming any Tribes of Midgard Shift codes.

Here in our world, the clock is ticking towards environmental catastrophe. In Forever Skies, time has already run out. This upcoming survival action game takes place a few hundred years after an environmental collapse has blanketed the Earth in a thick layer of toxic dust, making the planet humanity once called home inhospitable. It sounds like a cursed fantasy, but developer Far From Home has envisioned an apocalyptic scenario that is rooted in a faint echo of reality.

“It sounds fictional, and we very much hope this won’t become a reality. However, the background is not completely made up. Forever Skies was inspired by overwhelming air pollution, which in recent years has been spreading uncontrollably. For instance, several Polish cities are among the most affected, and somehow we’ve learnt to ignore it,” says a spokesperson from developer Far From Home, who explains that alerts from the RCB [Rządowe Centrum Bezpieczeństwa, Poland’s crisis management office] urging people to stay indoors are becoming so frequent that they are beginning to fall on deaf ears.

The warning signs are there for all to see and hear, and we are ignoring them. “In this context, we started thinking about a scenario in which this problem is not resolved but actually kept expanding beyond control. What may eventually happen if we as a mankind will have missed all the red alerts, and keep doing what we are doing?”

Time is running out

It’s difficult to say what would happen if we keep ignoring the signs, but it could look a little something like Forever Skies. You play as a lone scientist who is charged with returning to a “hostile Earth” in search of “viral pathogens needed to cure a virus threatening your family living on an orbital station among a small group of descendants of those who managed to escape.”

Forever Skies is a confluence of two experiences. The first sees you building, customizing, and maintaining a high-tech airship that you can fly above the dust blanketing the Earth; a mobile base of operations that functions as your home, workshop, and laboratory, allowing you to explore the ruins of towers piercing the toxic clouds for resources and vital information. The second has you dropping down below the dust and into the ruins of civilization, investigating mysterious anomalies as you search for vaccines vital for the continuation of the human race. It’s a unique blend of gameplay styles that ultimately pushes you to utilize science to survive.

“Every post-apocalyptic setting is different, yet what’s unique for Forever Skies is perhaps the fully customizable, mobile base at your fingertips instead of several static bases set up across the game’s world. Options for airship-building are also quite innovative, resulting with a high degree of customization.”

That customization ties into the central loop of Forever Skies – surviving. The studio tells me that the learning curve has been “carefully crafted” to ensure it doesn’t overload players with too many systems. You’ll start by scavenging for resources in the world above the dust cloud, eventually finding blueprints which will let you “set up more sustainable methods of getting food and water in the game.” Eventually, you’ll need to start balancing hunger, thirst, and your desire to explore against a need to rest and recover stamina. The better you upgrade and maintain your airship base – as well as the crafting machines and tools necessary to survive the elements – the faster you’ll be in a position to descend to the world below. “This all will be needed to gear up towards finally venturing under the dust, where the gameplay changes as you’re going to face the new, hostile lifeforms inhabiting the toxic space.”

So what of the space above the toxic cloud that has blanketed the Earth? Forever Skies establishes a world where “people tried to escape to towers, built up high to reach breathable air” once the extent of the environmental catastrophe became clear. “Our art team iterated very hard on creating a believable environment which would portray the last survival efforts made by humanity. Towers built up to reach breathable air become islands, reachable only by airships.”

Forever Skies screenshot

“You’ll be able to self-infect on purpose, testing viruses and prototypes of vaccines. This will be a major threat to survival, but also an opportunity to discover how to boost some life functions.”

To explore these in-atmosphere towers, you’ll need to craft and use a series of unique tools. There’s a hand extractor, which can be used to gather resources; a building tool, which lets you fabricate components on the fly to modify your airship, and a repair tool, which uses nanobots to fix machines and any damage sustained to your flying vessel. “That’s more than enough to keep a single player busy for many hours, but on top of that we’re planning to add co-op sometime after the Early Access release, and this way to add a new dimension to the gameplay.”

Of course, once you reach the surface of planet Earth these tools will only get you so far. Far From Home is playing its cards close to its chest here, but is teasing that “unimaginable creatures” emerged out of the acrid conditions and now call the Earth home. “Under the dust, this can only be reached through what we call ‘surface lift locations’. These areas allow the player to access the surface to acquire virus samples, using one of many different biomes that we’re creating. These locations have vastly different designs and dynamics to the world above the dust.”

We have no idea what horrors await on the surface of the planet, but Far From Home tells us that getting prepared and venturing into the horrors will be necessary should you want to provide aid to what little remains of humanity off-world – and we won’t always like what we find down there. “As a result of interaction with new life forms, you will regularly fall ill and recover, observing how the immune system will have reacted to infections. And that’s not all. You’ll be able to self-infect on purpose, testing viruses and prototypes of vaccines. This will be a major threat to survival, but also an opportunity to discover how to boost some of your life functions and abilities.”

Forever Skies has been in development for over two years, is set to enter Early Access on Steam in 2022, and is already looking like one of the best upcoming survival games on the calendar. There’s no shortage of first-person action survival games out there, but Far From Home is putting together a visually and mechanically ambitious experience that we can’t wait to try for ourselves.

Prime Video has released the first official trailer for The Wilds season 2, and it looks predictably intense as, back on the island, the girls learn that they are not alone.

Created by Sarah Streicher and executive produced by showrunner Amy Harris, the show – which follows multiple timelines – centers on a group of teenagers, all from different backgrounds, who sign up for a young women’s empowerment retreat. They find themselves stranded, though, after the plane that was supposedly taking them to Hawaii crashes into the ocean.

Soon, it becomes clear that the girls are test subjects in a potentially deadly social experiment – only they don’t know it yet. As the fight to survive, flashbacks provide insight into each of their lives before the accident, while flashforwards see the ultimate survivors recount the ordeal to two men claiming to be FBI agents.

The Wilds’ season 1 finale saw flashforward Leah (Sarah Pidgeon) discover a room of monitors that revealed that the organization behind the social experiment has also been running a boys-only version, too. In the season 2 trailer, the girls can be seen making contact with their male counterparts, but will their union prove to be a good thing or not?

“We all started wanting to be things,” new character Rafael (Zack Calderon) can be heard saying in the promo. “We wanted to be men but the truth is… some of us were becoming monsters.”

“We couldn’t see them, we could hear them,” Toni (Erana James) states in another scene, as puppet master Gretchen Klein (Rachel Griffiths) argues that the boys “were the perfect control group” and that “there’s no question they imploded”. Given all the shots of them fighting, we think she might be right…

The video ends with Dot (Shannon Berry) creeping up behind Rafael and grabbing his mouth, as she whispers forcefully: “Don’t scream.”

Sophia Ali, Jenna Clause, Mia Healey, and Reign Edwards also reprise their roles as Fatin, Martha, Shelby, and Rachel respectively. Other new names joining the cast this season include Aidan Laprete, Charles Alexander, Nicholas Coombe, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Tanner Ray Rook, Reed Shannon, and Alex Fitzalan.

The Wilds season 2 is set to premiere on Prime Video on May 6. In the meantime, why not check out our roundup of the best shows on Amazon Prime available to stream right now, and pad out your to-watch list.

A The Last of Us 2 fan has found some out-of-bounds hidden details in the game, including the fact Abby holds the women’s bench press record in the W.L.F gym.

YouTuber and secret-detail-finder Speclizer (opens in new tab), has shared another The Last of Us 2 hidden details video and revealed the W.L.F headquarters gym leaderboard – on which Abby sits at the top of the table for women’s bench press with a seriously impressive 205lbs record.

Those who have played The Last of Us 2 will not be surprised at this record considering Abby continuously showcases her strength throughout Naughty Dog’s post-apocalyptic game.

This is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of hidden out-of-bounds details Speclizer has shared in their latest video. Some of the other interesting things found include the fact one of the car’s speedometers actually works, and that if you blow up the arcade machines you can expose its components.

It’s amazing how even after almost two years since The Last of Us 2 was released, fans are still finding the tiniest of details within the game. Speclizer also recently shared a fellow The Last of Us 2 fan’s discovery of potential multiplayer armor for Ellie buried deep in the game’s code.

We haven’t heard much in terms of new The Last of Us 2 content from director Neil Druckmann or anyone else at Naughty Dog in a while, but what we do know is that the team is currently working on three mystery projects.

Speaking of arcade machines, did you know the arcade from The Last of Us 2 is closing down in real life?
