The post Star Wars: Squadrons Hunted short introduces you to your new TIE wingman appeared first on Game News.
]]>The CG short looks absolutely stunning and sounds incredible – the space battles look especially good (and expensive) and are nearly on-par with some of the film battles, and the sounds effectively place you in the heart of the battle. ‘Hunted’ was created in collaboration with Motive Studios, Lucasfilm, and Industrial Light and Magic – all studios that are incredibly well-versed in creating expansive Star Wars set pieces.
‘Hunted’ is set before the events of Star Wars: Squadrons (opens in new tab) and shortly after the Battle of Endor from Return of the Jedi. Imperial forces are retreating after the New Republic surprises them with an attack on their dockyard at Var-Shaa, and Titan Squadron Leader Varko Grey gets stranded after the Imperial destroyer he’s meant to return to jumps to lightspeed just as he pulls up. He’s chased down to the planet’s surface by a rogue New Republic X-Wing pilot, who tells him over comms that “the war is over.” Grey eventually shakes the X-Wing and washes up on the shores of Var-Shaa, ending the short with “it’s not over yet.”
According to the press release, Grey will be a character that you fight alongside in the campaign, so expect to see his face again when Star Wars: Squadrons drops for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on October 2.
Star Wars: Squadrons will “fully support” joystick compatibility on PC. (opens in new tab)

All purchases of the upcoming Star Wars: Squadrons (opens in new tab) title from now until October 1, 2021 will get you a seriously dope Vanguard Squadron X-wing Glider in Fortnite (opens in new tab). Nothing says “Star Wars fan” quite like swooping into a firefight on your own X-wing, and nothing says “smart consumer” like getting it for free.
Head here (opens in new tab) to pre-purchase Star Wars: Squadrons in the Epic Games Store for $39.99/£34.99. In order to redeem the in-game cosmetic, you’ll need to log onto Fortnite with the same Epic Games account you used to purchase Squadrons. The X-wing will automatically be in your locker as soon as you boot up Fortnite.
If you’ve already bought the Vanguard Squadron X-Wing Glider (which will be available “from time to time” in the Fortnite store) you’ll receive 1200 V-Bucks in your account instead. Either way, you’re getting something for free! If you’ve linked your Epic Games account to your PS4, Xbox One, or Switch, you’ll be able to get the free X-wing as well, so don’t fret.
This isn’t the first time Star Wars and Fortnite has done a crossover, and it likely won’t be the last, but it is one of the few offering up free stuff, so we’re here for it.
Star Wars: Squadrons releases for PS4 (and PSVR), Xbox One, and PC on October 2. Remember, the free X-wing offer will last for an entire year, so if you’re waiting to pull the trigger you’ve got some time to mull it over.

]]>As Connor reported earlier this week (opens in new tab), the new Star Wars game was accidentally revealed by the official Xbox.com website when it was briefly featured in a highlighted spot at the top of its homepage. Despite prompt removal, this is the internet, and evidence was promptly screenshotted and shared widely.
The two new tweets include similar artwork to the accidental reveal we’ve seen before, with all three image bearing the legend: “Pilots wanted”. “Remember why we fly” is the text accompanying one tweet. Here, take a peek:

The reveal itself will debut at 8 am PST tomorrow, Monday June 15, 2020 (that’s 11am EST, 4pm UK time) on YouTube right here and the commenter chatbox is already buzzing with excitement:
An anonymous source reportedly confirmed to press that Star Wars: Squadrons is the proper name for Star Wars: Project Maverick (opens in new tab) and it’s coming to PC and consoles later this year. The sources added that Squadrons is about piloting iconic Star Wars ships in aerial and space battles, with both a single-player campaign and multiplayer modes. Industry rumours also points to Maverick being a smaller project, so you probably shouldn’t expect another game on the scale of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (opens in new tab) or Star Wars Battlefront 2 (opens in new tab).
Oh well, not too much longer to wait now! Maybe we’ll see a little bit more at EA Play Live next week (opens in new tab), too, perhaps?
We’ll have to wait and see where Star Wars: Squadrons will fall in our list of the best Star Wars games (opens in new tab).
