Spoiler warning: The last eight Red Dead Redemption 2 dinosaur bones are located in a spoilery part of the map that you likely won’t be able to fully access until you reach the game’s epilogue. If you’ve not reached that point in the story yet, you might want to stop at bone 22 for the time being.

Bone 1

Bone the first can be found a little south of Dewberry Creek, in Lemoyne. You can find it bedded into the banks of a shallow ravine.

Bone 2

Located north of the last bone in Dewberry Creek, on the banks of a dried-up river.

Bone 3

Can be found east of Flatneck Station, on the slopes of a grassy hill.

Bone 4

This bone sits on a hill in the shadow of a rocky outcrop, situated to the northeast of Flatneck Station.

Bone 5

Slap bang in the middle of The Heartlands. Find the gold-digging site, then take the ladder down to find the bone at the bottom of the cave.

Bone 6

Northeast of Heartland Overflow lake, near some bushes at the top of a hill.

Bone 7

A slightly tricky one this, as you have to climb down the rocky banks of the Kamassa River. Better leave your horse – no bone is worth snapping your steed’s neck over.

Bone 8

To the east of Butcher Creek, in the heart of the forest. Use your Eagle Eye vision to spot it among all the thick trees.

Bone 9

A little south of Brandywine Drop, buried among some autumnal leaves.

Bone 10

This boney bad boy sits on a hill near the rail bridge to the west of Roanoke Valley.

Bone 11

To the north of Grizzlies East, nestled among the pretty petals on one of Abarino’s loftiest hills.

Bone 12

This bone lies to the west of O’Creagh’s Run, on top of a narrow cliff. Kill two birds with one stone while you’re in the region completing the excellent ‘The Veteran’ Stranger mission.

Bone 13

You’ll find this unlucky chap to the northeast of Donner Falls, bedded into a rock face beside some large boulders.

Bone 14

Located at Bacchus Station. You can find this prehistoric customer lying on a small ledge.

Bone 15

To the west of Fort Wallace, on the edge of a cliff. Be careful when you take your horse up there; space isn’t exactly plentiful.

Bone 16

You can find this bone sitting atop a cliff overlooking the trees of Cumberland Forest.

Bone 17

Located on the banks of the river northwest of Valentine, planted firm in a rock wall.

Bone 18

On the opposite side of the river from the last bone, sunk into the soil atop one of the overlooking cliffs.

Bone 19

Further down river from bone 17, and firmly planted in yet another wall of rock, just like its pal upstream.

Bone 20

Buried away in a cave to the northwest of Wallace Station. Take a lamp.

Bone 21

Found on one of the sparser slopes of Big Valley. There aren’t that many trees in this location, so it should be easy to see.

Bone 22

Atop a steep cliff to the east of Black Bone Forest.

Bone 23

The first of the semi-spoilery bones. This one is located in Pike’s Basin in Hennigan’s Stead. This area is more or less inaccessible because of patrolling sheriffs until you reach the epilogue.

Bone 24

You can find this bone on top of a hill near the banks of the San Luis River. 

Bone 25

Sitting near the edge of Rio Del Lobo Rock. All those memories of the original Redemption are flooding back. *sniff*

Bone 26

This bone is dug into the hills of Rio Bravo. It’s partially hidden by a big ol’ cluster of bushes.

Bone 27

In the prairies to the northeast of Fort Mercer, planted near a large cactus.

Bone 28

Found in Rattlesnake Hollow, stuck in the side of a rock formation. Watch out for snakes!

Bone 29

You’ll find the penultimate bone in the deserts of Gaptooth Ridge. Keep an eye out for the cacti and you can’t go wrong.

Bone 30

The final bone is found in Tumbleweed, teetering precariously over the side of a cliff. Assuming you don’t break your neck fetching it, head to the nearest post office and mail your findings to MacGuiness. You’ll be rewarded with a Quartz Chunk and Skull Statue.

To finish the quest, sleep for an in-game day, then travel back to a post office. You’ll find a letter from your archaeologist pal inviting you to meet her northeast of Valentine. Visit the new quest marker that pops up on the map, and once you get there, Deborah will show you the completed dino skeleton. She even rewards you with a special Bone Knife for all your intrepid dino detective work. Alan Grant would be proud.

You don’t necessarily need to be riding the Red Dead Redemption 2 best horse to pass these feats, though having a fast mount will help you with the challenges against the clock. There are some decent rewards on offer as you work through this checklist, so follow our Red Dead Redemption 2 Horseman Challenges for advice on the best ways to complete them.

Horseman 1 – Kill 5 rabbits from horseback

Rabbits are abundant across almost the entire map of Red Dead Redemption 2, and you can kill them from horseback by either shooting using the target lock system or even running them over with the horse itself. Kill five in this way, and the challenge will be complete.

Horseman 2 – Jump over 3 obstacles in 15 seconds

This one’s fairly easy, as your horse can jump over boulders, fences, small cliff faces, and other environmental objects simply by riding them in its direction. Find three in a nearby vicinity, and quickly ascend in succession to complete the challenge.

Horseman 3 – Ride from Valentine to Rhodes in less than five minutes

Rhodes is a town located a few miles southeast of Valentine, but getting there in under five minutes flat on horseback won’t be easy. Ideally, your steed will need to be in the race horse category, and you’ll need to bond with it to upgrade its stamina first. When attempting the time trial, be sure to bring some stamina shots to inject your horse with during the journey, should they begin to tire out too quickly.

Horseman 4 – While mounted, drag a victim for 3300 feet using your lasso

You can lasso someone from your horse by equipping it from the weapon wheel and aiming at any target within range. Arthur will then maintain his grip until you say so, allowing to drag the victim along the ground just by riding your horse for 3300 feet, preferably along flat ground to avoid the lasso coming loose. Spoilers: the victim will definitely die. 

Horseman 5 – Trample 5 animals while on horseback 

This is exactly what it sounds like. Find an animal, aim your horse in its unfortunate direction, and charge. Target small game like rabbits for this challenge, as your steed is less likely to get hurt or stressed upon the impact, and they’re easy to tail from horseback, especially when the critters are so abundant across the open world. 

Horseman 6 – Ride from Strawberry to Saint Denis in less than 9 minutes without touching any water

If you’ve seen the Red Dead Redemption 2 map, then you know this challenge won’t be an easy one. Arthur will have to cross two rivers to get to Strawberry from Rhodes, but to avoid water he’ll have to take the bridges rather than wading through any low streams. Meanwhile, to get there in under nine minutes, your horse’s energy will need to be constantly charged with stamina shots and food, so stock up on plenty of those before even thinking about making the journey. 

Horseman 7 – Kill 7 enemies from horseback without dismounting

Killing enemies from horseback is a painless process with the autolock system and Dead Eye, but the tricky part here is downing seven without them knocking you off your horse first. Stay mobile, try to keep your horse calm (to prevent it rearing in terror), and target bandit camps so you won’t be left riding around the West looking for more enemies to kill before you can dismount. 

Horseman 8 – Kill 9 predators from horseback

The easiest predator to kill from horseback is probably the alligator, found in the swamps of Lemoyne to the South East. Unlike the bear or the cougar, they’re not too speedy, so are less likely to stress your horse out by catching up with you. A decent rifle will have them dead in two shots or less, as well, so finding and killing nine of them won’t take forever, especially when they’re located all in the same vicinity. 

Horseman 9 –  Ride from Van Horn to Blackwater in less than 17 minutes without touching any water 

Riding from Rhodes to Strawberry in under nine minutes is one thing. Riding from one side of the map to the other in less than 17, again without touching any water, is something else entirely. Your horse will undoubtedly need to be at level 4 bonding with Arthur, and hopefully a fast-paced breed like a race horse that can withstand a journey as long as this one at running pace. As for the water criteria, you’ll need to plan your route beforehand to, as was the case with the Horseman 6 Challenge, use bridges to cross any rivers without getting wet. 

Horseman 10 – Break every wild horse breed

To “break” a horse breed means to find and tame one from the wild. This requires slowly walking up to the animal and trying to calm it down, before mounting it and staying on using the analog stick to prevent being bucked off until your new steed accepts its fate. There are dozens of horse breeds found around the world, making this pursuit a rather lengthy one but, when finished, you can pat yourself on the back for completing the entire set of Horseman Challenges.

How to start the Red Dead Redemption 2 Gunslingers quest

To kickstart this map-spanning, multi-part Stranger mission, you must first head to the smaller of the two saloons in Valentine. Talk to the magnificently moustached writer Theodore Levin to start The Noblest of Men, and a Woman quest. Following a brief chinwag, the hairy scribe asks you to track down a group of crack shot outlaws so that he may finish his book on the esteemed (and super drunk) Jim “Boy” Calloway. Once this cutscene finishes, check out the Documents tab in Arthur’s satchel, then examine the four photographs to reveal the Red Dead Redemption 2 Gunslingers’ locations on your map.

Emmet Granger Gunslingers quest location

Located in the heart of New Hanover, this former outlaw is most likely the first Gunslinger you’ll naturally encounter in Red Dead Redemption 2. Head to the farm at Flat Iron Lake, and you’ll find this pistol-twirling legend has fallen on hard times. Poor Emmet is now a pig farmer, and before he’ll share his tales with Arthur, you must first help clear out his pigsty.

Once you’ve shovelled up all that hog excrement, return to the retired shooter. An increasingly agitated Granger then challenges you to a duel. Press the right trigger at the earliest opportunity, then aim for Emmet’s head or chest to put him out of his misery for good. Take a photo of him to wrap up this quest. You should also loot his corpse to obtain the Granger’s Revolver, which is a fairly decent addition to Arthur’s arsenal.

Billy Midnight Gunslingers quest location

Ride to the train station at Rhodes to confront this Gunslinger. After speaking to the clerk, wait for the incoming train to stop, then hop aboard to meet up with the whisky-loving gunfighter. After a cranky confrontation at the train’s bar, Midnight makes a run for it. Follow him up to the carriage roof, then get ready for a swift shootout.

Firing as quickly as possible is generally the best way to put Billy down, and after you’ve sent the outlaw to his maker, take a photo of him with your camera to end this sidequest. Make sure you also loot his corpse for Midnight’s Pistol: an outstanding handgun that boasts some of the best stats in the game.

Black Belle Gunslingers quest location

You can find this kickass shooter in Bluewater Marsh, just a few minutes ride north of Saint Denis. Unlike every other Gunslinger on this list, Belle and Morgan actually wrap up their encounter amicably. After Arthur unwittingly leads a clutch of bounty hunters to the ageing outlaw’s hideout, it’s up to you to clear them out. Use Belle’s porch for cover and beware of the Gatling gun the hunters bring to the pistol-flying party. Once you’ve cleared out all the enemies, Belle happily poses for a photo to end the mission. Unlike her fellow Gunslingers, Ms Belle doesn’t leave Morgan a rare gun, though you should still loot the corpses of those bounty hunters for useful ammo.

Flaco Hernandez Gunslingers quest location

The easiest Gunslingers mission in the game, and a shooty diversion that should take you all of two minutes to finish. After you’ve revealed Flaco’s location on your map, head to the sharpshooter’s location in Ambarino, located near the frozen Cairn Lake. After you confront and shoot his cronies, holster your gun, approach the nearby cabin, and Hernandez will eventually show his face.

Once he does, a duel breaks out, so get ready to press RT/R2 as quickly as you can to pump the outlaw full of lead. Red Dead Redemption 2’s quick draw duelling system remains a bit of a mystery, and we usually enjoyed the most success in these showdowns by pressing the right trigger as swiftly as possible, then betting our aim was good enough to pull off the first lethal shot. Once you put Flaco down, take his photo to complete the mission. You should also loot his corpse to obtain Flaco’s Revolver, one of the four rare weapons you can earn from these Gunslingers sidequests.

Slim Grant Gunslingers quest location

After you’ve finished the first four Red Dead Redemption 2 Gunslingers quests, return to the same saloon in Valentine to complete this stranger mission – though this can only be done once you’ve reached at least chapter four. Speak to the bartender, and you’ll be informed that Levin and Calloway are residing on a boat resting in the port of Saint Denis. Check in on the writer and the sauced-up former sharpshooter, and the pair will send you to Annesburg to follow up a lead on the final Gunslinger, Slim Grant.

Speak to the sheriff in Annesburg, and you’ll be tipped off to a nearby gang hideout where Slim is being held. Once you reach the site, take down the outlaws, then cut Slim free. After you’ve stowed a still hogtied Grant on your horse, ride to the new map marker to reunite with Levin and Calloway. During the ensuing cutscene, Jim shoots his former rival in the back, sparking Arthur into an impromptu duel with Calloway. Put the disgraced Gunslinger down for good to wrap us this prolonged Stranger quest. If you loot his corpse after the deadly deed is done, you’ll also be rewarded with Calloway’s Revolver: a rare and ornate Schofield pistol that’s well worth acquiring.

You can change attributes, gain wealth, weapons, outfits and gear, and generally open up the Wold West instantly to your needs. It couldn’t be easier to use these codes either – you just have to type in certain phrase you’ll discover in newspapers in Red Dead Redemption 2 (opens in new tab). You don’t even have to find them as we’ve got them a listed here for quick and easy use. So here are all the Red Dead Redemption 2 cheat and codes for you to use.

Where can you find Red Dead Redemption 2 cheat codes?

Most people will have probably come across a cheat code in Red Dead Redemption 2 without actually knowing it. Many are found at random, scrawled into ice or etched into a cabinet in a lonesome shack.

However, there is actually one guaranteed way of finding cheat codes: buying newspapers. Head to Valentine, Saint Denis and Blackwater and pick up the New Hanover Gazette, Saint Denis Times and Blackwater Ledger respectively from the newspaper seller in town. Certain newspapers will only be available after clearing particular flashpoints in the story, and a number of cheats are actually locked off depending on your progress, so to get the best experience, you probably want to finish the campaign first.

The newspapers don’t cost very much, and if you’ve already beaten the game then you should be loaded with cash, so quickly pick up every copy available. Once you’ve done that, simply open up your satchel, pick a newspaper, flip it over and zoom in to the bottom of the paper. If the paper has a cheat code, there will be a little tagline underneath one of the articles which contains a phrase. This phrase is what you have to type in to unlock the corresponding cheat code.

How to enter Red Dead Redemption 2 cheat codes

Activating cheat codes in Red Dead Redemption 2 is a fairly simple process. Hit pause to access the main menu, then navigate to the Settings tab, and if you look in the bottom right corner you’ll see ‘Cheats’. Tap Triangle/Y to navigate to that screen.

You’ll most likely be faced with a blank list if you’re yet to enter any cheats, but fear not! Tapping Triangle/Y once more will open up a text box for you to type in the phrases you’ve discovered during your travels. Once you’ve done that, you can either toggle or tap the cheat codes to activate them in your game.

Be warned, activating cheats will disable both saving and Trophies or Achievements, so tread with caution! We recommend entering all the codes you want, then manually saving your game to lock them in before experimenting with them.

You’ll be pleased to hear that the Red Dead Redemption 2 best horse is out there and ready for you to claim for free, but before you go after it you’ll need to learn about breaking horses. It can be tricky to find the Red Dead Redemption 2 Arabian horse location, and once you do track it down you’ll still have to work hard to break in the Arabian horse, but it’s definitely worth all of the hassle. Put in the effort, and you’ll be able to proudly ride in the saddle of the best horse in Red Dead Redemption 2.

How to unlock the stables in Red Dead Redemption 2

First off, you have to make sure you’ve unlocked the stables. This is early on in the game, a reward for completing the Chapter 2 mission “Exit, Pursued By A Bruised Ego,” where you hunt a Legendary Bear with Hosea.

Once you’ve done that, you’ll find out that the best horse breed in Red Dead Redemption 2 you can purchase is an Arabian. They are always the most expensive when you’re shopping at a stable, averaging around $1000, and offer excellent speed, acceleration and handling.

However, there is also a wild variant of this breed, the White Arabian, that has better overall stats. Fortunately, you can acquire this horse for free, as long as you’re ok with going through the arduous process to tame it. But that’s what we’re here for!

Where to find the White Arabian in Red Dead Redemption 2

The White Arabian is an elusive creature that hides out in the tundra of the West Grizzlies. Its white coat masks the horse amidst snowstorms, making it particularly hard to spot. Put on your best Winter Gear to mitigate the weather so you have enough stamina and health to tame it, and head to the western bank of Lake Isabella, as marked on the map above.

I’d recommend you dismount a good distance away from the spot marked there so that your current, inferior horse doesn’t scare the White Arabian and make it bolt. At this point, you should save your game manually to make sure you have an instance to return to if you mess up. It’s easy to put a foot wrong and lose the horse, and it’s not guaranteed to return if you frighten it off. To my knowledge, you only get one shot, so you want to be very prepared before you attempt this.

Once you’re ready, crouch and start moving towards the area, using Eagle Eye (L3 + R3) when possible to spot heat signatures from afar. Once you find it, you want to slowly get in range of the White Arabian until you can hold L2/LT to focus on it. Now that you’re in focus, you’ll notice the calm bar in the bottom right corner, which you want to keep as full as possible. Basically, hammer Square/X to make sure the horse is ok with you approaching it. 

Every time you see the calm bar deplete (this will usually coincide with the horse making noise and moving erratically,) you want to stop dead in your tracks and keep calming it until everything returns to normal.

How to break in the White Arabian in Red Dead Redemption 2

Keep doing this and edging closer until you’re within range to pet the White Arabian. When this happens, do this a couple of times and then press Triangle/Y to mount the horse. Unfortunately, it’s not over just yet. The horse will naturally start bucking and attempt to throw you off. What you want to do is hold the left analogue stick in the opposite direction to which the White Arabian is attempting to pull you. Basically, resist like you would when you’re trying to catch a fish, but keep hammering Square/X to calm it as you do this. 

Eventually, the bar in the bottom right will hit rock bottom and you’ll have broken in the White Arabian. Congratulations, you now own the best horse in the game. All you have to do now is go to your current horse, remove its saddle by holding Right on the D-Pad and place it on your new steed. Now you can bond with it and customize its kit to make it even faster. 

Make sure to whistle on your way out of the area so that your previous horse follows you. This makes sure it won’t be left in the cold and you can stable it just in case you lose this one. As of writing this article, we do not know of any other appearance of the White Arabian in-game, meaning you better carry some Horse Revivers to ensure it doesn’t shuffle off this mortal coil, or you won’t get anything quite as good ever again. How Red Dead Online role-players turned an out-of-bounds prison into a working Wild West criminal justice system

Since the arrival of Red Dead Online in late 2018, Rockstar has given its sister game GTA Online seven hefty updates, including the Diamond Casino Heist, which gave players an entirely new location and the means to rob the place blind; the Cayo Perico Heist, which gave players an entirely new island ripe for plundering; and The Contract, which gave players rap legend and business mogul Dr Dre. Between times, GTA Online has run its signature weekly events which offer savings on specific property acquisitions, new vehicles and weapons, and double money on pre-set missions, each determined at the start of each weekly cycle. 

Red Dead Online, on the other hand, has received six so-called “major updates” in that time, which have introduced new weapons, roles within the online world, and new story missions and cosmetics. Until late last year, Rockstar had also extended similar weekly events to Red Dead Online akin to GTA, but upset a sizable chunk of its playerbase when it switched those weekly initiatives to a monthly basis. Moreover, the game did not receive a major December update as many expected. 

“The last content update the game received was back in July, and on par with the previous two years, there were high hopes for a winter update in December. Unfortunately, no update arrived, though this was half-expected given the huge spotlight on GTA Online’s new story featuring Dr Dre, and players set their sights on a delayed new year update instead,” Kirsty continues. “When Rockstar returned from the holidays and announced a month-long event of in-game bonuses for the second time in a row, it was here that the community erupted as it essentially confirmed there would be no update in January either. The hashtag started the same morning and it quickly spread through the community.”

With Rockstar announcing this week’s update will run for the entire month of February too, the Red Dead Online community appears as unhappy now as ever.

In a blog post of her own on fan site GTA.net, Kirsty describes Rockstar’s apparent lack of interest in Red Dead Online as like “rubbing salt into the wounds of an already frustrated community”, and tells GamesRadar+ that many players today view Red Dead Online as the “neglected child of Rockstar”. Kirsty is quick to admit she doesn’t believe anyone in the Red Dead community expects the western crime sim to take precedence over the juggernaut that is GTA, but does call for parity in the depth and frequency of updates rolled out for both games. 

“We’re not privy to the numbers, but it seems to us from the outside that it just isn’t afforded the same kind of resources for large updates because it doesn’t turn out as much profit as its older brother – it has four in-game currencies, through only one is a microtransaction, so on one side you have new players who face an excessive grind due to nerfed earnings, and on the other you have very wealthy hardcore players who have no content to buy,” Kirsty adds. “Many have rallied the community with the hashtag to try and make their wish for content and communication known to the powers that be, and the campaign has been reported on several media outlets so far.”

“From what I’ve seen, aside from actual content, the main hope is that Rockstar will just re-affirm that Red Dead Online will continue to receive updates into the future, and some are asking for the campaign to be addressed with an apology. In a lot of eyes, the game is already a lost cause, dead, and not worth campaigning for, but there have been thousands of voices sharing their love for the game and the hours they have put into championing it. Those in support have vowed to continue sharing the hashtag on everything Rockstar posts on social media until it is addressed, which is causing a lot of additional division in an already tense community. In my opinion, there isn’t going to be a direct address, and we’re more likely to see a Newswire post (Rockstar’s official news outlet) in the near future with hints about what is to come in their online games in 2022, much like they did last year.”

Sad clowns 

This isn’t the first time Red Dead Online players have felt let down by Rockstar’s perceived lack of support either. At the beginning of July in 2020, dozens of players flooded servers dressed as clowns as a means of protesting a lack of updates. Having launched at the end of the previous year, Moonshiners marked the game’s then most recent complimentary add-on, before Rockstar introduced The Naturalists on July 28, and protests quickly subsided.  

Some 18 months on, and the #SaveRedDeadOnline campaign, launched by another prominent community member Ben T earlier this month, has generated similar traction. At the time of writing, a cursory glance on Twitter shows that hundreds of users and fans of the game are adding their voice to the cause by the hour, with some calling for specific in-game improvements – including allowing players to steal wagons and horses, adding sophisticated train robbery missions a la GTA’s multistage bank heists, and the simple ability to take your dog for a walk in the wilderness.  

As is sadly all too commonplace in online movements of this stature though, some rogue agents have taken to spamming individual Rockstar employees with abuse. Naturally, Kirsty is dead against this type of behaviour. She adds: “We find this abhorrent. Many of us in the community have tried our best to encourage people to report this and continue only with decency. Toxicity gets us nowhere and only pushes Rockstar further from wanting to interact with the community at all, which is the last thing anyone should aim for given they keep their cards very close to their chest as it is.”

As for what future updates might entail, Kirsty herself would love to see new roles or expansions to existing roles introduced to Red Dead Online. She’d like to see character properties, or community areas akin to the Diamond Casino in GTA Online; the conclusion of Jessica LeClerk’s storyline with new ‘A Land of Opportunities’ missions; as well as visual upgrades for new-gen platforms such as PS5 and Xbox Series X, and the Rockstar Editor. 

And, similar to the timing of clown-themed protests of 2020, if a substantial Red Dead Online update is, in fact, just around the corner? She and the wider community will happily eat their words. 

“Rockstar’s developers have been working from home since the beginning of the pandemic and likely have most of the studios focused on their next project,” she says. “So as a community, we also need to take into consideration that developing any kind of updates at the scale people are expecting in the current conditions of the world is a big undertaking.”

The post Red Dead Online players have launched a revival campaign they hope will catch Rockstars eye appeared first on Game News.

Just below, you can see a post that originally surfaced on the Red Dead Redemption 2 subreddit over the past weekend. In the post, a user combing through the game’s files on PC claims to have found a number of characters that were originally intended to feature in Rockstar’s wild west prequel, but were ultimately ditched for reasons unknown.

In another great discovery, the user has even been able to provide details on where the cut character would’ve featured in the final game. For example, the first character of the bunch was meant to feature in the ‘Famous Gunslinger’ side mission, while the sixth character with the long dark coat was originally the Sheriff of an unspecified town.

But that’s not all. In the comments underneath the post, the user who unearthed these discoveries also claims to have found a file relating to Nigel, the mysterious NPC who can be found at various points throughout Red Dead Redemption 2 screaming out for “Nigel,” who players believed was his business partner or friend. This Nigel has never been found in Red Dead Redemption 2, but a letter obtained from the corpse of Gavin, should the player kill him, fleshes out the relationship between the two.

The dataminer claims that Gavin’s actual name, according to game files, is none other than Nigel, which brings a brand new aspect to the mystery. Could it be that Nigel and Gavin are actually the same person, with the person in question suffering from some sort of split personality disorder? It’s entirely possible, although it’s equally possible that this is nothing more than a red herring from Rockstar.

The video provides an overhead perspective of a litany of in-game maps, starting out relatively small with Fortnite and Apex Legends at a few square kilometres apiece, before moving onto the behemoth maps of blockbusters like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

It’s a really neat creation, and helps put different in-game maps into perspective for the player. For example, we never really considered how truly vast the map in Far Cry 5 was, because there’s so many different ways to get around it via vehicles, but when you look at the actual physical size of the map in metres, it dwarfs other games.

Another video by the same YouTube channel gives a great look at how the Assassin’s Creed series has extended over the years. The Assassin’s Creed map size comparison video (opens in new tab) takes us through the complete series, starting out relatively small with Assassin’s Creed, and building through to the gigantic sizes of Odyssey, Valhalla, Black Flag, and more. It’s a great visual showcase of just how much Ubisoft’s series has extended, especially when switching to the RPG formula in recent years.

It’s definitely easier to see how games are getting bigger and bigger year upon year. Last year for example, a leak surrounding Cyberpunk 2077 revealed that the game’s map would be smaller, but more densely packed than that of The Witcher 3. This wasn’t received well by some players, who perceived Cyberpunk 2077’s smaller map to be offering less content compared to CD Projekt’s previous game. It’s easy to see, therefore, why developers might be inclined to make their games larger.

Chiefly, both GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 will both be playable via backwards compatibility. Rockstar aren’t saying what next-gen features the two games will take advantage of, but you will be able to pick off right where you left off with save transfers.

Additionally, the most recent HD versions of LA Noire will also be playable on all next-gen consoles. For the PlayStation VR, you’ll be able to play LA Noire: The VR Case Files on PS5.

Thankfully, your progress on both GTA Online and Red Dead Online will carry over to next-gen platforms. That’s one hell of a relief for players that have no doubt put hundreds of hours into both online modes (especially in the case of GTA Online).

But a litany of classic Rockstar titles are coming to next-gen consoles as well. You can read the full list for yourself over on Rockstar’s website (opens in new tab), but the list of games include the likes of Bully: Scholarship Edition, GTA 4, Red Dead Redemption, GTA 3, Manhunt, Max Payne, and The Warriors.

Gambler 1 – Win 5 hands of poker

You’ll not only need to know how to play Poker to complete this challenge, but know how to win, not to mention find a table to compete on with other characters in Red Dead Redemption 2. You can start your first match in an early story mission, Who is Not Without Sin, while other tables can be found in towns and saloons throughout the world, but you’ll need to chip in a few dollars for entry beforehand. 

Gambler 2 – In Blackjack, double down and win the hand 5 times

In Blackjack, doubling down means to increase your initial bet twofold, usually when the player is confident that their hand can win. Sit down at the Blackjack table at Saint Denis or Blackwater in Red Dead Redemption 2 to try it out for yourself. You’ll need quite a bit of money, especially if you don’t win the hand after doubling down, but once you understand the rules a bit more, you’ll have a good shot at completing this challenge over time. 

Gambler 3 – Win 3 games of Five Finger Fillet

You can play five finger fillet with several gang members at camp for a small entry fee of $1. To win, you need to beat your opponents record time at alternating the knife between your fingers by pressing the telegraphed buttons as quickly as possible. It may take a few tries, but you should have this challenge beat within minutes.

Gambler 4 – Bust one poker location out in each location (Flatneck Station, Saint Denis, Valentine)

To “bust” in Poker means to force another competitor out of money so they have to leave the table and the game altogether, and you only need to bust one player out at each table in the three named locations to complete this challenge. The best way to do this is to cajole someone into going ‘all in’ by raising the stakes to a considerate level. If you win, they’ll have to call it. If you lose, no worries, just rejoin the game and try again until you finish the challenge.

Gambler 5 – Win 3 rounds of dominoes without drawing any tiles against 2 or fewer opponents

To win dominoes, you need to get rid of all your tiles as quickly as possible, but will be forced to draw one whenever you can’t play your turn. You can compete in rounds of dominoes with gangmates back at home camp, which is the best place to finish this challenge as the entry fee is only a single dollar. 

Gambler 6 – Beat the Blackjack dealer in two locations (Rhodes and Van Horn)

Find the Blackjack table in both the towns of Rhodes and Van Horn to begin this challenge. To beat the dealer, you’ll need to place a bet and win the hand against them during each round, so make sure you have enough money to begin the gamble in the first place. 

Gambler 7 – Beat the five finger fillet player in every location (Strawberry, Valentine, Van Horn)

Five finger fillet requires you to press a series of buttons quickly in succession as Arthur navigates the knife between his fingers. To complete this challenge, you’ll need to beat your opponent at every named location by besting their record times. 

Gambler 8 – Win three hands of Blackjack with three hits or more

A “hit” in Blackjack means asking for another card to add to your hand, which can be risky, as if you go over 21 then the dealer wins by default. Still, you’ll need three rounds with three hits for this challenge, so it may take some time (and money) before this one is complete. Only ask for another card when your total number is low enough to take the hit, and cross your fingers that the hit won’t bring you over the 21 limit.

Gambler 9 – Win three games of dominoes in a row

Simple and straightforward enough. Just keep playing dominoes back at camp as best you can until you score a hat trick. If you’re struggling for wins, use the in-game rulebook for advice on domino tips and strategies for securing a victory. 

Gambler 10 – Win three hands of Poker in a row

Just like Gambler 9, this challenge requires three consecutive victories of a single game type but, unlike dominoes, Poker is a lot harder to win when luck is such a big factor. Once you have enough money to play at least ten rounds or more in succession, join a lowball poker table like the one at Valentine and keep participating until a hat-trick comes your way. With that, the Gambler Challenge set will be done and dusted, and hopeful you won’t have lost too much money along the way.
