]]>The post Best Razer controllers 2022: a rundown of the best Razer pads appeared first on Game News.
]]>It’s worth noting that some Razer controllers can be at a higher end of one’s budget but they justify this price point with the features and customization which is on offer. You also get exceptional design and build quality. When picking up one of these gamepads its also likely that you’re picking up one of the best PC controllers as they all work flawlessly with Windows.
Razer offer different levels of controllers, if you’re on the hunt for something to suit more professional gaming then you may lean more towards the ‘Tournament Edition’ types. However, if you’re not fussed about competitive edge and just want a good quality long lasting controller then take a look at the ‘Ultimate’ variants. Both are chock-full of features and options, though, and each is worth a serious look.
We’ve organized the list below to make it easier to find a suitable controller based on your platform and required compatibility as Razer offer a range of options.

The best Razer controller for eSports
Wireless: Yes, can be used Wired. Powered By: Rechargeable BatteryBattery Life: 19 Hours
+Ergonomic design and premium feel+Great features+Tactile button feedback+Easy accompanying app
-Asymmetrical so may not suit all users
The Razer Raiju Tournament Edition is an excellent pick for those browsing Razer controllers. Though it’s geared more towards sports and competitive play, it is still a wonderful controller for those looking for something premium and quality, and different to the DualShock 4.
It has a wonderful weight and build-quality you can really feel. However, underneath the premium exterior is a whole host of programmable options thanks to the corresponding Razer app. Just sync the app to the controller via Bluetooth and away you go, allowing you to tweak the function of each button however you see fit and even set the level of rumble on either side of the gamepad. In terms of sheer versatility, the Razer Raiju Tournament Edition certainly earns its keep.
This Raiju model succeeds in the realms of design, too: it’s of the asymmetric school of thought more often seen on Xbox controllers. What’s more, the design also represents the best of both worlds, as evidenced by the split D-pad and emphasis on the central touchpad. It’s one of the top Razer controllers going, period – particularly thanks to the rear buttons that allow you to react faster without having to take your thumbs off the thumbsticks.

The best premium Razer controller
Wireless: Yes, but can be used wired.Powered By: Rechargeable batteryBattery Life: 11 hours
+Premium design and build+Very customizable+Features and programmable buttons coming out the wazoo+RGB lighting
-Asymmetrical so may not suit all users.
The Razer Raiju Ultimate is perfect for those PS4 players looking to get increased versatility and functionality from their Razer controller. The customization, multi-functional buttons, and interchangeable D-pad and thumbsticks are all great factors that are useful to the dedicated eSports player craving an edge. They also make for an interesting addition to those who prefer ‘story games’ but are looking for shortcuts, or their own way to play.
The press of every button is satisfyingly tactile, and even the touchpad feels good to tap, with it never being in doubt whether presses registered either in wired or wireless modes. Not having to press L2 and R2 as far down when trigger lock is activated helps as well; it’s a small feature almost every PS4 player will enjoy and be satisfied by. The extra ‘M’ buttons on the back of the controller will take some getting used to, but once you’ve mastered them, the Raiju Ultimate will be your go-to pad. They really help to reduce finger travel-time.
While it does have a large entry price, if you ever have the chance to grab a discount on this premium Razer controller for PS4, you’d be mad not to jump on that opportunity.

A Series X controller with more customization options
Wireless: NoPowered By: USBBattery Life: N/A
+Tactile buttons+Trigger-stop switches+Extra remappable shoulder buttons
-Strange View/Menu button placement-Trigger and bumper buttons grind when pressed together
The latest in the Razer controller lineup, this is the successor to the entry-level Wolverine controller. It’s been given a modern and considerable makeover to coincide with the release of the Xbox Series X and this Razer controller might just be for you if you’re after some extra customization: there are extra remappable buttons up top; and you can switch to hair triggers to reduce the actuation depth for a quicker response.
It has a high-ish price tag but largely warrants it, as, for you’re money, you’re getting exceptional grip on the front side as well as rear; improved tactile buttons; a very comfortable-but-chunky design; and the speeds of a wired connection. There’s no wireless option yet, sadly, but this will at least mean zero lag on inputs and you don’t have to worry about batteries either. The cable is nearly 10ft/3m long so should be fine for most players.

The best Xbox Razer controller
Wireless: NoPowered By: USBBattery Life: N/A
+Reliable+Quality Razer build+Interchangeable thumbsticks and d-pads+Onboard media controllers
-Higher price tag to match the ‘ultimate features’
The top Razer Xbox controller is the Wolverine Ultimate, without question. It’s one of the highest-quality Razer controllers out of this entire guide, too.
Featuring the classic Razer Chroma RGB lighting that changes while you play, it matches those visuals with interchangeable thumbsticks and d-pads, four extra back buttons, and two extra shoulder buttons. Everything is within reach of your fingers no matter the controls you need or the game you’re playing, increasing response-time dramatically.
The Wolverine Ultimate does have the ‘Ultimate’ price tag, but its features, quality design, and build largely justify it. It gives you the undeniable precision, quality, and pizazz a Razer controller should. In fact, it’s the go-to controller of a few Xbox players we know – and for good reason.

The best Xbox Razer controller for eSports
Wireless: NoPowered by: USBBattery life: N/A
+4 remappable buttons+Short hair trigger locks+Non-slip rubber grip+Elegant Chroma lighting
-Hefty price tag to go with all of the features
The Razer Wolverine Tournament Edition manages to balance advanced customizability and pared-back style, offering Xbox One players flexibility without being garish or ugly. The primary way the Razer Wolverine Tournament Edition achieves this is via four remappable buttons, two of which are back paddles that are easily accessed during the heat of play. This helps reduce finger travel-time, meaning you don’t ever need to take your thumbs off the thumbsticks. That’s crucial in competitive games, and it provides a few extra milliseconds that can save your (digital) life.
Other advancements this Razer controller features are hair-trigger locks, which reduce the actuation needed in the buttons and thus making the act of firing faster possible in first-person shooters. Also aiding competitive players is the controller’s ergonomic non-slip rubber grip, ensuring they always have a handle on their in-game actions.
If you’re an Xbox player who loves the competitive scene, this controller is well worth considering.

The best Razer mobile controller
Wireless: NoPowered by: Phone BatteryBattery Life: N/A
+Excellent thumbsticks+Fits lots of smartphones+Clever, space-saving design+No latency
-Locked to platform
With mobile games becoming steadily more complex, the drawbacks of touch screen controls have never been more apparent. Trying to play a shooter like Fortnite or Call of Duty just doesn’t work as well on phones, for example. That’s where the Razer Kishi comes into its own. Acting as a case for your device, it connects via the USB-C port and adds standardized controls on either side – it’s like a stretched out Xbox One controller.
This is a revelation in use. Because it adds clickable thumbsticks, face buttons, and shoulder triggers, it’s just like using a ‘normal’ controller for your phone games. That’ll be especially useful with Project xCloud, the Xbox streaming service; the Kishi is compatible with it, meaning you can be playing everything from Gears of War to Halo on your phone without having to suffer through touch screen-related woes.
The only downside of this product is that if you purchase it to work with an iPhone you will not be able to switch over to Android due to how the connection is made and vice versa, so be sure to choose the correct model.

It’s worth noting that we don’t test every controller which makes it into our buying guide but we do try out best to test most of them. You can find out more information about our opinion on each controller within the specific review linked below. In brief, every controller that we have had our hands on is used in a series of different video games to accommodate for most genres. This means that we’ll test the responsiveness of the sticks, face buttons, bumpers, triggers, and any other additional features found on the unit. If a controller is wired or relies on rechargeable batteries, then the duration of the lifespan is tested, too. The same can be said for any specialist software, such as drivers, that may be included with the gamepad as well.
For more on how we test controllers at GamesRadar+ check out our full article, and for something more representative of our holistic approach to the latest gear, check out our Hardware Policy.
Given the reputation, it’s no real surprise that the company has taken what it knows so well in the form of their Razer headsets, Razer laptops, or Razer streaming gear and applied it to their many Razer controllers.

]]>The post This could be the best gaming headset deal weve seen so far this year appeared first on Game News.
]]>The BlackShark V2 sits atop our guide to the best gaming headset – and only increases the case for itself when it’s at this super low price. Inside the BlackShark V2 you’ll find Razer’s 50mm TriForce Titanium drivers which produce some of the best game – and other media – audio that I’ve ever tested when reviewing headsets. It was so impressive it received my first ever perfect score – you can read more about all the ins and outs of it in my full Razer BlackShark V2 review. But the chase that’s worth cutting to is that, if you don’t mind – or even prefer – a wired headset then this is about as good as it gets, and almost certainly at this price point; it really is, basically, the best gaming headset deal you can get.
With this gaming headset deal, we say that it has returned to its lowest ever price because the BlackShark V2 is not a total stranger to this price point, having been here twice before. However, that was way back in late 2021, and it has not been south of $80 since then (as far as we can tell).

Save $30; lowest ever price – It’s been a while but the BlackShark V2 has returned to its lowest ever price and makes this a hell of a gaming headset deal. The audio quality is so good, and you’ll have plenty of tinkering options too in Razer Synapse. There’s no RGHB here though – but the helicopter-pilot-inspired design is excellent in and of itself.
If you want to keep your options open then you’ll find a whole host of the best headsets below along with their latest, lowest prices.
Prepare for all the deals coming this summer for both main consoles with our latest predictions on what to expect in the upcoming Prime Day PS5 deals and Prime Day Xbox deals.

These decks cover a range of styles, designs, and mechanisms, with excellent response and a premium feel. Even cheaper membrane decks are well known for their durability and price to performance ratio, offering newcomers and budget setup builders a set of luxury feeling keys without breaking the bank.
We’ve had our paws all over some of the best Razer keyboards in the business, and we’ve rounded up our top picks right here. Not only will you find the absolute best of the best here, though, we’ve brought out our favorites across the full price range.

The best Razer keyboard overall
Type: Mechancial (wired)Size: FullSwitches: Razer Analog OpticalKeycaps: Doubleshot PBTMedia keys: Dedicated keys, volume dialWrist rest: Detachable, magneticUSB passthrough: USB 3.0
+Analog function+Satisfying click+Comfy, bezel-less wrist rest
-Expensive
The keys of the Razer Huntsman V2 Analog are designed to mimic the thumbsticks of a controller. Essentially, each key has a variable actuation point – so you can use different levels of pressure in order to produce a different response from the keyboard. That’s a revelation in our books, allowing us to push harder on a key to run faster, or move with greater precision.
The Razer Huntsman V2 Analog does something we’ve never experienced before, and it stands out in any lineup of the best gaming keyboards as a result.
Razer Huntsman V2 Analog review
In our testing, this nifty little feature offered up far smoother gameplay in Watch Dogs: Legion and Elite: Dangerous alike. We were cruising around asteroids, and subtly adjusting our flight patterns with the help of that variable actuation rate. It was a real game-changer – once we set it up. There’s a lot of fiddling required to make the switches perform to their full potential. For example, mapping thumbstick controls to WASD in certain games meant the title itself thought we using a full controller. That meant some commands were being automatically mapped to non-existent trigger buttons. Of course, this was fixed by diving back into the Synapse software, but it’s worth noting that this is not a plug and play affair.
Nevertheless, his is a Razer keyboard designed for FPS, racing, and flight-sim fans, with the WASD keys never feeling so in tune with our own gameplay requirements. While we wouldn’t chalk it up as a necessity, it’s certainly difficult to switch back to a regular deck once you’ve got used to it.
Aside from that key feature, the Razer Huntsman V2 Analog still packs some considerable power under the hood. Razer’s optical switches mean you’re getting a super fast response, but there’s still a mechanical click feel here as well. Add dedicated media keys and dial, USB passthrough, and a luxurious leatherette magnetic wrist rest, and you’ve got yourself a particularly premium deck with a twist.

The best Razer keyboard under $60 / £60
Type: Membrane (wired)Size: FullSwitches: Rubber domeKeycaps: ABS plasticMedia keys: Dedicated keysWrist rest: NoneUSB passthrough: None
+Feels great to type on+Quiet membrane keys+Affordable
-Some keys can sound ‘squeaky’
The Razer Cynosa V2 manages to feel great under your hands without breaking the bank – which isn’t an easy find in the world of Razer keyboards. Not only is it one of the brand’s best decks for value for money, but it’s one of the cheapest models worth running on the whole market as well. While it holds an MSRP of $59.99 / £59.99, we actually see this model well under $50 / £50 regularly.
If you’ve never owned a gaming keyboard before, this is the perfect place to start.
Razer Cynosa V2 review
While these rubber dome switches are a little cheaper by nature, the Cynosa manages to implement them in a way that still feels tactile and responsive. Plus, you’re keeping that quiet typing experience of a non-mechanical deck as well. It should be said, though, that in our testing we did come across a few squeaky keys. While no means a deal-breaker, and certainly not a constant sound, the odd ting noise could become irritating if they build up over time.
We were still flying across the board with excellent actuation speed and response, which is more than can be said for the majority of budget gaming keyboards. Not only that, but you’re also getting dedicated media controls and a full set of RGB LEDs as well.
The Razer Cynosa line is very similar to the brand’s other budget range – the Ornata. The Cynosa won’t take you past $50, but the Ornata, with its hybrid switches, media dial, and included wrist rest will run you closer to $80. While the Ornata may boast a few more specialized features, then, those looking for a true budget buy will be better suited to the value experience that the Cynosa V2 line offers.

The best Razer keyboard for most people
Type: Mechancial (wired)Size: FullSwitches: Razer Green / Razer YellowKeycaps: ABSMedia keys: Dedicated keys, volume dialWrist rest: DetachableUSB passthrough: USB 2.0
+Quality construction+Responsive switches+Sounds awesome to use
-Not great for longer periods of time-No dedicated macro keys
Blackwidow keyboards have been at the top of the mechanical tree for many years, and this latest Elite iteration seems likely to keep it there. With an arsenal of thoughtful features and a more streamlined design than we’ve seen in previous Blackwidow models, the Razer BlackWidow Elite seems to solve some of the line’s early problems. While you are dropping dedicated macro keys, there’s more than enough functionality in here to make up for it – including Razer Hypershift, an additional layer of programmability accessible via a modifier key.
There’s no denying the quality of the materials or the construction, and the green switches will delight gamers who prize responsiveness and speed.
Razer BlackWidow Elite review
We found the BlackWidow Elite to be taller than other Razer decks, with a high profile design that did become cumbersome during longer testing sessions. However, the concave keycaps kept us in line.
Those keycaps are working hard as well. The clicky green switches in our testing unit were incredibly sensitive, which came in handy for twitch reflex manoeuvres. However, we did find ourselves making several mistakes with unwanted keypresses. That means we’d recommend taking a look at the orange switches if you’re looking for extra precision.
We greatly valued the USB passthrough on here, as well as the addition of a 3.5mm audio jack. We’re often testing the best gaming headsets while we plug away on Razer keyboards, so having somewhere easy to plug that cable in was a godsend.
The Razer BlackWidow Elite still isn’t a budget buy by any means. It doesn’t touch the lofty heights of the Huntsman V2, but still offers enough luxury to put it several large steps ahead of budget models like the Cynosa and Ornata. That makes it the best Razer keyboard for most people – strong value for money that doesn’t load up on expensive features that might not see use from everyday players.

The best small Razer keyboard
Type: Mechanical (wired)Size: 60%Switches: Opto-mechanicalKeycaps: Double-shot PBTMedia keys: Dual-functionWrist rest: NoUSB passthrough: No
+Compact and portable+Fast Razer Optical Switches+Satisfying key action+Tough and grippy PBT keycaps
-Not great for long periods of typing
Don’t let the size of the Razer Huntsman Mini fool you – it’s every bit the equal of its full-size counterparts. That’s because it also features the same excellent opto-mechanical switches for ultra-fast actuation and a satisfying ‘click’ with every key bump. It’s a delight for typing as a result, but its main draw is its speed. You can respond every so slightly faster than your foes with this one, and that’s crucial in competitive shooters like Apex Legends.
The smaller footprint means it’s easy to transport as well, making this the ideal choice for tournament use or those who travel a lot. It’s also a good pick if you want to use it on one of the best gaming laptops (opens in new tab), as it doesn’t take up a huge amount of space.

The fastest Razer gaming keyboard
Type: Mechanical (wired)Size: FullSwitches: Razer Opto-MechanicalKeycaps: ABSMedia keys: DedicatedWrist rest: DetachableUSB passthrough: No
+Opto-mechanical switches eliminate delay+Plush leatherette wrist rest+Bold RGB
-No USB passthrough or macros-Requires two USB ports for full RGB
Razer’s Huntsman range of keyboards is rapidly becoming the company’s premier lineup for competitive use. They are currently the only set of keyboards to feature Razer’s excellent opto-mechanical switches to essentially eliminate actuation delay (the time it takes for a key-press to be registered). That means the Razer Huntsman Elite keys register the moment they touch a laser beam.
The opto-mechanical switches that are the star of the Huntsman line are some of the best switches I’ve ever had the pleasure of using.
Razer Huntsman Elite review
These opto-mechanical switches are the star of the show here, offering up some of the speediest, most responsive switches we’ve seen in a gaming keyboard. We found that the tactile feedback and sound was similar to that of the Cherry MX Blue, but with a 15g lighter actuation force, each press was far easier and stood the test of a longer play session much better as well. Not only that, but you’ll find some solid stabilizers supporting those switches as well – we were particularly impressed with the stability of the overall experience here.
Of course, there are some drawbacks to having all that speed at your fingertips. The Razer Huntsman Elite does lack some of the more peripheral features that sit on other Razer keyboards. There’s no USB or audio passthrough here, and you’re not getting any dedicated macro keys. However, we were grateful for the stripped back approach here, with the features that are included (dedicated media keys and RGB) performing particularly well.

The best hybrid gaming keyboard from Razer
Type: Mecha-membrane (wired)Size: FullSwitches: Razer mecha-membraneKeycaps: ABSMedia keys: Dedicated, volume rollerWrist rest: DetachableUSB passthrough: No
+Mixes membrane and mechanical switches+Low actuation+Pleather wrist-rest
-Keycaps get greasy
The Ornata V2 is a brilliant answer to the question: should my Razer keyboard be mechanical or membrane? The answer is, actually, it can be both.
Utilizing a ‘mecha-membrane’ approach to its design, the Razer Oranata V2 blends the two approaches and techs into a glorious combination: it has a mechanical ‘click’ with the feel of membrane switches. As a result, it is very easy to use and proved incredibly responsive in our testing, enhanced further by the low-profile keycaps.
This mecha-membrane device combines the the ‘click’ of mechanical decks and the feel of traditional membrane switches.
Razer Ornata V2 review
The Ornata V2 feels particularly tactile under the hand, which will benefit those who don’t get on with the longer travel distances of linear mechanical switches. However, you’re still getting a durable set of keys with a satisfying sound here – it really is the best of both worlds. Not only that, but because of that cheaper hybrid design this is also one of the more affordable Razer keyboards out there.
Of course, it’s not as cheap as the Razer Cynosa V2, but you’re still getting plenty of additional features like a media dial and wrist rest to make that extra investment worth it. That said, the budget build does mean you’re picking up ABS keycaps – a smoother, less durable alternative to pricier PBT models. In our testing we did notice some oily shine appearing fairly quickly.

The best Razer console keyboard
Type: Mechanical (wireless)Size: FullSwitches: Razer Green TactileKeycaps: ABSMedia keys: Dual functionWrist rest: NoUSB passthrough: No
+Versatile – works with PC or Xbox One+Modeled after the excellent BlackWidow+Durable and built to last
-Hard wrist rest
It’s an amazing package for anyone looking to play console games with a keyboard and mouse, with some thoughtful features designed specifically for use in the living room.
Razer Turret review
The Razer Turret is certainly an older model, but if you’re looking for a keyboard setup on your console it’s still a solid go-to. You can run this model on Xbox as well as PC, which will appeal particularly to anyone on the hunt for versatility – though unfortunately not if you’re a PlayStation player.
Razer rarely produces wireless gaming keyboards, but you’ll find a solid cable-free connection here, on both Xbox and PC. We were particularly impressed with the battery life, running through several testing sessions without needing to juice up.
Interrogated more closely, the Turret’s two parts perform just as well as the full-blooded counterparts which provided their inspiration. To start with, the keyboard is just like the BlackWidow in its reliability, quality, and design (its retractable mouse pad is also a wonderful design touch). Meanwhile, the included mouse is on par with the Mamba model – one of the best Razer gaming mice (opens in new tab) you can get.

We adopt each Razer keyboard as our own whenever a new model comes our way for review. That means we can make recommendations based on not only hands-on experience, but also the quality of life of a product. We use each Razer keyboard we review for work and play over a considerable amount of time, while also running a series of tests designed to stress a keyboard’s performance through a range of genres.
In particular, we’re always making sure key features like the n-key rollover and scan rates are true to the brand’s marketing, while also testing response times, debounce, switch speeds, ease of macro use, travel and more during our use.
Because we use these devices every day, we’re always keeping an eye on that form factor and durability as well – watching out for any flexible parts or switch wobble. However, once our initial review is finished we will continue to keep these Razer keyboards in our rotations so that we can determine long-term build quality and update our findings as well.
For more information on how we make our recommendations, take a look at our full GamesRadar+ Hardware Policy. You’ll also find more details on how we test gaming keyboards specifically as well.
Of course, we’re also rounding up all the best cheap gaming keyboards currently on the market, as well as the best gaming mouse models and the best Razer laptops to boot.

There’s some serious pedigree in here, and today that manifests itself in efficient engineering, high quality displays, and the chassis design to keep everything cool and collected while running.
Now that the best Razer laptops are offering Intel, AMD and Nvidia’s latest mobile processors and graphics cards, 2022’s offerings are even more powerful than their predecessors. While it’s still early days for these recent releases, those prices are looking particularly hefty. If you’re after a cheap Razer laptop, therefore, we’d recommend checking out older models (2020 and 2021’s offerings in particular).
We’ve rounded up all our favorite Razer gaming laptops right here, after weeks of testing across both work and play.

+Cutting edge components+Excellent color and contrast+Luxury design with solid build quality
-Proprietary charging connection
The 2022 Razer Blade 15 lives up to the name of its ancestors; providing cutting edge components in a super portable chassis – and looking particularly good while doing it. This certainly isn’t your everyman Razer laptop. With a top price tag reaching $4,000 and some seriously premium gear under the hood, the Razer Blade 15 will appeal to enthusiasts far more than the everyday player. However, if you’re looking to invest in a machine that can sink its teeth into some serious PC gaming, this is the model for you.
That 4K 144Hz display is certainly an outlier even in this high-end market, and the overall build quality and design can’t be argued with either.
Razer Blade 15 review
We were incredibly impressed to see Shadow of the Tomb Raider flying at well over 60fps in 4K on our RTX 3080 Ti / i9-12900H testing unit, though of course more demanding games did struggle to break past 45fps in High settings. Still, fiddling with some of the more tasking visual effects did bring us closer to buttery smooth 4K gameplay than we’ve seen on similar models. It’s easy to wax lyrical about the performance under the hood when you’re spending $4,000 on Nvidia and Intel’s bleeding edge components, though. Perhaps even more impressive is the classically slimline chassis housing them all.
Razer didn’t need to add to the Blade 15’s footprint to get all this gear under the keyboard. In fact, with additional ventilation in place, this slimline rig still manages to offer up a comfortable, portable experience – even with all that power at your fingertips. That’s why this is the best Razer laptop currently available; it marries the power of a far chunkier rig with that suave design language that so many have fallen in love with over the years.
Still, if you’re not looking for a long-term investment, the Razer Blade 15 isn’t for you. In fact, with a lofty $2,000+ price tag even on an RTX 3060 rig, there will be very few everyday players who will be able to draw the value they need from their cash here. The Razer Blade 14 does make a far easier case for its MSRP, offering up a smaller starting price that will appeal to far more players, even if it’s not technically the top dog.

The best Razer laptop for most
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900HXGraphics: up to Nvidia RTX 3080RAM: up to 16GBStorage: up to 1TB SSDScreen: FHD at 144Hz | QHD at 165Hz
+Excellent build quality +AMD configurations+Compact form factor
-Hotter due to small form factor-Smaller display
The Razer Blade 14 is one of the top gaming laptop options out there, let alone in Razer’s own category. Hitting the market just before the slimline design revolution took over, we found that the smaller form factor made this machine an excellent everyday workhorse, while always offering some excellent gaming performance in its back pocket. We were impressed by the high-end configurations on offer here – packing an RTX 3080 GPU and a Ryzen 9 5900HX processor into this chassis is no mean feat.
It’s incredible to think that there’s so much oomph and beastly power in this tiny thing.
Razer Blade 14 review
While we did find that some of that horsepower felt a little wasted on the smaller 14-inch screen, and the heat produced was considerable, being able to transport this level of gaming prowess this easily was always exciting. We were hitting 71 fps on The Division 2 at high settings, and 85fps in Shadow of the Tomb Raider to boot. Very few gaming laptops can boast that kind of power in this form factor.
The matte-black aesthetic keeps things subtle, all belying the incredible performance under the hood. Sure, the Blade 15 and Blade 17 are more instantly recognizable as gaming-specific machines, and will offer slightly better performance thanks to the extra space for cooling.
However, Razer gaming laptops are all about that ease of use. In the same way that the MacBook previously dominated over clunkier, but (before M1) arguably more powerful, PCs, Razer puts its experience at the forefront, and in all the brand’s rigs we’ve tested, the Blade 14 represents this design ethos the best.

The best Razer laptop for big screen viewing
CPU: up to Intel 11th-genGraphics: up to Nvidia RTX 3080RAM: up to 32GBStorage: up to 1TB SSDScreen: 17.3” (1920×1080 – 4K-touch)
+Spectacular display+Powered by the latest components+Same great design and build+Slimline form factor
-Very expensive-4K 60fps is still a pipe dream-Proprietary power source
We would recommend the Razer Blade Pro 17 to anyone who wants the absolute best from their portable hardware, and doesn’t mind foregoing the backpack. The Pro combines the latest in the component department with options on graphics cards going right up to the latest Nvidia RTX 3080, and the newest Intel processors, with a superb 4K touch screen, or 360Hz 1080p screen, to create an absolute beast of a gaming laptop.
Despite being the larger 17.3-inch screen variant of the blade family, it’s still got that (relatively) slim and light build which is an impressive feat.
Razer Blade Pro 17 review
In our testing, we found the slimline build to limit some of the back-breaking weight of the standard 17-inch laptop. Brands are quickly slimming even their largest machines down these days, but the matte black finish and slim-bezel design on the Blade makes it feel like it has a slightly smaller footprint than something like the Alienware X17. We were, however, concerned to find a proprietary power source on the 2021 model – something that always feel like a risk.
It also features one of the best keyboards to be found in gaming laptops – we found it exceedingly comfortable, and – even better – it looks fantastic as well. Razer’s use of proprietary ultra-low-profile mechanical switches is much appreciated, giving us a taste of snappy, responsive keystrokes that are difficult to find in other models.
If you’re after the biggest and best Razer laptop where budget is no constraint, then this is it. It’s a beautiful, incredibly powerful piece of portable computing that could easily replace your desktop as your go-to PC for gaming and more mundane applications.

The best Razer laptop for ultra-portability
CPU: Intel Core i7 11th-genGraphics: Intel Iris Xe – Nvidia GeForce 1650TiRAM: up to 16GBStorage: up to 512GB SSDScreen: 13.3″ (1920×1080 – 4K touch)
+Incredibly light and portable+Still offers Intel 11th generation processors
-A little outdated graphically
Because it doubles down on Razer’s biggest strength – industrial design – the Blade Stealth 13 forgoes a lot of the usual spec bumps in favor of implementing a plethora of seemingly minuscule tweaks to its appearance. For example, the new 4.9mm ‘Micro Edge’ bezels are 60% narrower than that of its predecessor, thereby blessing the low-profile laptop with borders around the display that make it look as contemporary as it is. Zooming out, the chassis at large is constructed using a high-grade aluminum material carved out from a single block of metal, making it all the more durable as a result.
Although the base model is still limited to on-chip Intel graphics, two higher-priced tiers now exist sporting Nvidia GPUs. You might not find an RTX card here but you can still hook the Blade Stealth up to a Razer Core external fun box if you can’t live without the retina-burning sensation of 4K graphics being ray traced in real-time.
We review a massive number of gaming laptops, so trimming that list down to the best Razer models requires standardized tests and plenty of play time. We follow the same steps to ascertain where a PC sits on the market every time, in an approach that combines industry standard GPU, CPU, and SSD tests with real-world game performance and everyday usability.
We use 3D Mark, Cinebench, PC Mark 10, and Crystal Disk Mark to give us some baseline benchmarks on core performance. Then, we run a series of framerate tests on Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Total War: Three Kingdoms, Metro Exodus, The Division 2, and Red Dead Redemption 2 to determine how that performance manifests in actual gameplay.
Of course, we also live with these devices so we’re playing all the hottest games on each gaming laptop we test and checking how well they slot into our setups, everyday work life, and portability needs as well.
You can find more information on how we review the products we recommend in our full Hardware Policy, and we’re also showing you exactly how we test gaming laptops for more details as well.
Razer laptops aren’t the only thing the gaming tech behemoth is known internationally for though, of course. Right now, to help you find the right item, or to build the perfect Razer setup, we have guides to the best Razer keyboards, Razer mouse contenders, Razer headsets and Razer speakers, and the best Razer streaming gear going, too.
The post Best Razer laptop: the brands top gaming laptops in 2022 appeared first on Game News.
]]>The post Razer Seiren BT review: “There are likely stronger options elsewhere” appeared first on Game News.
]]>The Seiren BT is Razer’s first attempt at plugging that gap. Taking audio on the move with a tiny Bluetooth mic designed to give mobile streamers a quality, flexible option. On paper it’s ticking a lot of boxes, but does it stack up in the real world, or could it be used in a streaming for gamers set up?

Officially the smallest microphone in Razer’s best microphones for streaming lineup (and possibly any streamer microphone lineup for that matter) the Seiren BT measures in at just over six centimetres. It’s an incredibly portable little unit weighing just 16 grams, and I even actually forgot that it was clipped to my collar after a couple of minutes. A largely metal casing is a surprising and welcome touch too, it keeps the Seiren BT from feeling like a toy and adds a premium finish.
It’s an impressive form factor that’s noticeably smaller and lighter than its main rival, RØDE’s excellent Wireless GO, and it makes all the difference when it comes to actually using it. Like RØDE’s offering, the Razer Seiren BT features an inbuilt clip on the back for attaching to your collar and, on the whole, it’s a good solution that makes it simple to get on the move.
Unlike the extra bulk of the Wireless GO which meant it often pulled down my t-shirt collar and flipped over, there was no such drama with the Seiren BT which sat happily in place throughout. If I’m being picky, the clip on the Seiren BT is just a touch lower than I’d like though; it’s a minor thing but it would help keep the mic hidden away more on camera if it joined nearer the top.
Connecting to my phone was simple, even without Razer’s dedicated streaming app. My iPhone 13 Pro happily picked up the Seiren BT as a Bluetooth mic, but be aware: it will take over your audio output too so listening back to test recordings in the Voice Memo app is a chore. There is a 3.5mm aux jack which does get around the issue, but the input being on the top of the mic is somewhat awkward and prevents you from using either of the two included windsocks too.

Using the Seiren BT as intended and linking up with the Razer streaming app unlocks a handful of extra features including AI noise cancellation, live audio monitoring, and a low latency mode. You can track battery percentage here too, with Razer claiming up to six hours of battery life if you keep noise cancellation off or four if you leave it on. There are two levels of that noise cancellation, and while they do an impressive job of cutting out unwanted background sound this was a little aggressive at times and ate into the voice quality too.
That’s an issue because with the Razer Seiren BT you don’t have a lot of voice quality you can afford to lose. For everything this little device gets right across build quality, design and setup, it falls down at the most crucial junction, sound quality. Unfortunately, it just doesn’t sound good at all.
Given the tiny form factor and $99 / £99 price point of the Seiren BT this shouldn’t come as a major surprise and yet I am still left feeling let down by what it produced. It’s important to taper expectations when it comes to the performance of a microphone like this, it’s never going to be able to deliver perfect studio-quality vocals no matter how hard the AI tries. But what I was left with was a microphone that delivered somewhere in line with a headset microphone or Apple Airpods.

It just all sounds a bit rough. There is no depth to my voice and none of the ‘perfect vocal clarity’ that Razer promises. Running some test recordings and Discord calls with a friend, we both agreed my audio was considerably better using the iPhone’s built-in microphone over the Razer Seiren BT. Comparing it to the RØDE Wireless GO the difference was night and day (though, admittedly, the Wireless GO is twice the price).
This all leaves the Razer Seiren BT in a slightly strange position. It’s an excellent device that’s just not good at what it’s meant to do. It’s a Formula 1 car with the engine from a Fiat Punto.
Purely as a microphone and based on audio quality alone it’s hard to recommend, but as a complete package it begins to form a more useful offering. It’s built well, it’s simple to set up and the wireless freedom it brings is valuable. For IRL creators where flexibility triumphs over sound it might just fit the bill, but for those looking to properly turn up the quality, there are likely stronger options elsewhere.
I used the Razer Seiren BT connected to an iPhone 13 Pro via Bluetooth both with and without the official Razer Streaming App. I tested sound quality recording in a number of environments, inside and outside, and while using a mixture of different gain and AI Sound levels.
Audio was recorded using the native Apple Voice Memos app and tested via Discord calls.

We’ve seen that $10 saving popping up a few times at the end of the year, but it has been relatively absent from the shelves over the last few weeks.
Either way, the original $69.99 MSRP was already offering strong value for money.
