Namco Bandai’s teasing a new announcement (opens in new tab) on the Facebook page for its cult smash, Dark Souls. Yes, within the game’s world, the company hates you and lives only to hear the anguished wails of your death throes; but this is Social Media, so you ain’t hearing squat until you pony up the Likes. In the meantime, the game’s page continues to fill with pleas for a PC port of the beloved die-’em-up.

Thank goodness, then, that Australian print mag PC Powerplay (via NeoGAF (opens in new tab)) is on hand to provide a slightly less oblique hint in the form of this teaser page for the next issue, presenting Dark Souls’ most-viewed line of text in its authentic font and coloring. This would seem like a pretty sure sign… but in the world of Dark Souls, nothing is certain except your inevitable doom. While you wait for concrete news, then, perhaps try crossing all your fingers while playing your favorite existing PC dark-fantasy title: such ridiculous tests of arbitrary mastery may soon be par for the course.

Two years and multiple delays later, Namco Bandai has finally locked in a launch date for Saber Interactive’s gravity-defying shooter, Inversion. The title, originally slated for 2010, will now arrive in North America on June 5 in North America, followed by a June 8 arrival in Europe.

“The extra development time for Inversion affords the team the opportunity to create an enjoyable and engaging third-person shooter experience with a comprehensive multiplayer component, including extensive competitive and co-operative modes,” said Namco Bandai in today’s announcement.

In development for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC, Inversion will let players wreak havoc on their environment and enemies via the multi-purpose, gravity-manipulating Grav Link device. The result is a mix of Matrix action in a RAGE-esque wasteland, with hints of the Inception hotel scene thrown in for good measure.

Of course, Inversion will ship with an equally topsy-turvy multiplayer, allowing players to gun down friends and strangers in an assortment of zero-G, post-apocalyptic environments. Read our impressions of that mode here.

Namco Bandai has signed its world famous, pie-shaped mascot for a new animated show on Disney DX. Entitled “Pac-Man – The Adventure Begins”, the CGI action-comedy will broadcast in stereoscopic 3D and feature Pac-Man and his Pac-Friends/Pac-Enemies in family friendly Pac-Hijinx.

The show will be executive produced by Avi Arad, producer of the Spider-Man, X-Men, and Iron Man films; alongside Rick Ungar, best known for his work with the cartoons X-Men Evolutions, Legend of the Dragon, and the extremely awesome Biker Mice from Mars.

“‘Pac-Man is one of the world’s greatest icons,” said Arad. “He is funny and adventurous and will bring his tone and abilities to this beautifully executed animated series.”

A trailer for the 3D animated Pac-Man project first appeared at E3 2010. It’s unclear if this is the same one announced today, but it does offer an idea of where Arad and team are taking the franchise:

From Software has patched Dark Souls to v1.05 in English-speaking territories, bringing the RPG up to speed with similar patches released earlier in the month for Asian territories. The patch addresses a lot of gameplay imbalance issues, evening up the odds between you and your foes to make for an easier – just kidding, the good stuff’s been downgraded and the hard stuff’s been bumped up.

The 1.05 patch addresses a number of glitches, reducing the instances of freezing, graphical snarl-ups and bugs in the game’s map section. Of course, in a game designed to remind players of how effing hard videogames can be, the most persistent bug of all is player survival, which is why many of the most useful player abilities have been scaled back to give your absurdly overpowered enemies a fighting chance. Honestly, what else did you expect from a title whose makers released unbeatable bastards into the game (opens in new tab) to deal with players being alive when they weren’t supposed to be?

Magic Changes:

Pyro Glove nerfed from 270 to 230.

You can see resonance signs now.

Vow of Silence range increased.

Sorcery spell damage as a whole was slightly buffed, but Homing Soul Mass and other pursuit style spells were nerfed.

Magic Shield duration lowered to ~11 seconds.

Strong Magic Shield duration lowered to ~11 seconds. Invincibility removed. Effect on Stamina drastically reduced.

Tranquil Walk of Peace and other Slow duration reduced to ~10 secs. Effect supposedly changed from 100% encumberance to 50%. Rolling possible if your equip burden is lowered. Slowness is similar to swamp effect.

Iron Flesh effectiveness nerfed.

Invisible Body duration remains unchanged.

Status Changes:

Base Equipment Burden increased (~6-10 points)

Humanity Item drop rate increased from 10 to 210

Medium roll recovery faster? (unclear and unconfirmed)

Defensive bonuses gained via Humanity reduced. Other defensive bonuses remain unchanged.

Item discovery gained via Humanity improved. Capped at 20.

Equipment General Changes:

Reported some weapon scaling gets improved at higher normal upgrades (+15 uchi dex scaling goes to A)

Some scaling reported as changing from A to S with higher upgrades

Upgrade Changes:

Normal scaling buffed by 5-20% (20% at +14).

Crystal scaling buffed by 5-20% (20% at +4).

Lightning +4 nerfed by 2% (+5 remains unchanged).

Raw scaling buffed by 10% (all levels).

Magic stat scaling buffed by 10-20% (20% at +9).

Enchanted stat scaling buffed by 15-20% (20% at +4).

Divine stat scaling buffed by 10-20% (20% at +9).

Occult stat scaling buffed by 15-20% (20% at +4).

Fire +9 nerfed by 2%. (+5 remains unchanged)

Dragon stat scaling buffed by 5-20% (20% at +5).

Specific Gear Changes:

Grant scaling changed to Strength:B and Faith:A

Gold-hemmed nerfed, still can’t be upgraded.

Dust skirt nerfed hard (streamlined to match the other pieces).

Silver Knights, Sun, Hollow Soldier’s Shield and other medium shield stability nerfed to ~70 at max upgrades to improve Great Shield viability.

Crystal Ring Shield scaling drastically nerfed. Does around ~200 +-50

Dragon Greatsword buffed from 360 to 390.

Silver Knight’s Sword lightning effect removed. Now enchantable.

Elite Knight gear nerfed, then buffed slightly in 1.05

Combat Changes:

Lock-on acquisition range increased.

Lock-on changing/switching got easier (more responsive).

Ring of Fog users can now be locked on.

PVE Changes:

Overall increase in souls gained (~2-2.5 times more)

Damage reduced on some mobs?

HP lowered on some mobs?

Reduced acquisition range on normal enemies.

Supposedly reduced poise on some enemies.

Bosses drop Humanity and Homeward Bones

Ghosts and Skeletons give souls now.

Twinkling Titanite drop rate improved.

Pyromancers in Catacombs drop Skull Lanterns.

Darkwraiths in New Londo drop Dark Hand.
