“I mean, I have a four-hour version, actually,” he told RadioTimes.com (opens in new tab). “I do. But you have to bring it down to 2 hours 30.”

Once Upon A Time in Hollywood and The Dead Don’t Die actor Austin Butler plays the legendary musician, while Tom Hanks is his manager Colonel Tom Parker and Olivia DeJonge plays Elvis’ wife, Priscilla Presley. The movie will tell the story of Presley’s life through his complicated relationship with Parker, spanning 20 years from his childhood to his rise to fame. 

As for what he had to cut out of the movie’s final cut, Lurhmann said: “I would have liked to lean into some of the other things more – there’s so much more. I mean, there’s lots of stuff that I shot like the relationship with the band, I had to pare [that] down – and it’s so interesting how the Colonel gets rid of them.”

He added: “The relationship with his first girlfriend, Dixie, you know. And later on how… once he’s caught in a trap, and he’s discombobulated and doesn’t understand… someone who’s got such a hole in his heart like Elvis constantly looking and searching for love and finding it on stage but nowhere else.”

This is Lurhmann’s first time in the director’s chair since 2013’s The Great Gatsby, which starred Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, and Tobey Maguire. His other movies include Strictly Ballroom, Romeo + Juliet, and Moulin Rouge!. His last project was the Netflix show The Get Down, but that was shelved after season 2

The film, titled Spirited, is based on Charles Dickens’ classic novel A Christmas Carol. Reynolds will be stepping into the shoes of Ebenezer Scrooge, while Ferrell is a ghost named Present (based on the Ghost of Christmas Present, we assume). Octavia Spencer co-stars, but there are no details on her character just yet. Glow’s Sunita Mani plays Past. 

In the pictures, which you can see below, Reynolds, Ferrell, and Spencer are singing up a storm in the snow – and Reynolds is scaring Ferrell in a bed. Just why a ghost is looking so terrified remains to be seen.

These pictures have technically been revealed before in a video Reynolds posted to Twitter, which featured a slideshow of behind the scenes looks at the movie, Ferrell invoicing Reynolds for their TikTok video (opens in new tab), wardrobe, and coffee, and some official stills from the film. Reynolds also shared another behind the scenes look at he and Ferrell standing fairly close for comfort.

The film includes music from Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (AKA Pasek and Paul), who penned the music for the Dear Evan Hansen Broadway show, as well as The Greatest Showman‘s songs, and lyrics for La La Land. Sean Anders and John Morris wrote the script and direct – they worked on the scripts for We’re the Millers and Daddy’s Home, with Anders also helming the latter. 

Spirited will debut on Apple TV Plus in this year’s holiday season, though an exact date has yet to be announced.

However, Burnap isn’t set to play the prince or the huntsman – he’ll play a new, original character created for the movie. West Side Story‘s Rachel Zegler is already on board as Snow White, while Gal Gadot will play her step-mother, the Evil Queen.

Disney’s original Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was released in 1937 and it was the studio’s first animated feature film. This, in turn, was based on the 19th Century fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm. 

The movie doesn’t have a release date yet, but it’s set to start filming in the UK this spring. Marc Webb is directing – he previously helmed (500) Days of Summer and The Amazing Spider-Man movies – while Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the duo behind the music in La La Land, The Greatest Showman, and Dear Evan Hansen, are writing a set of brand new songs for the movie. Marc Platt, who’s also working on the live-action Little Mermaid remake, is producing.

Burnap is best known for his stage roles and he won a Tony in 2021 for his performance in the Broadway play The Inheritance. He’s also set to appear in the Apple TV Plus series WeCrashed opposite Jared Leto and the Hulu series Under the Banner of Heaven with Andrew Garfield.

Amazon has acquired worldwide rights to Kay Cannon’s upcoming movie that features Camila Cabello in the title role. The supporting cast is full of big names, including Billy Porter, Idina Menzel, Pierce Brosnan, Missy Elliott, John Mulaney, and James Corden. 

The movie is described as a musically driven take on the traditional rags to riches story –  Cinderella is an ambitious young woman whose dreams are bigger than the world will allow. With the help of her Fab G (Porter), her genderless fairy godparent, she musters the courage to make her dreams come true.

This is Cabello’s feature debut and her first major acting role – she also worked on the music for the movie along with Menzel and both artists have original songs on the soundtrack alongside contemporary pop music. 

Cinderella is Cannon’s follow-up to her directorial debut, the 2018 comedy Blockers. Prior to that, she wrote all three of the Pitch Perfect movies and produced the last two. On the small screen, she was a writer and producer on 30 Rock, New Girl, and Girlboss, which she also created. 

The movie was originally supposed to be released in theaters in July after Sony pushed it back from February. However, now that distribution is in Amazon’s hands, it’s unclear whether a summer release date is still on the cards – all we know so far is that it’s still coming at some point this year.
