Searching for Phantasmal Conch locations in Genshin Impact? In Version 2.8, the Conch collectible from last year’s Summertime Event makes a comeback. Although the Conch locations are different, the idea is still the same: collect enough Conches on the Golden Apple Archipelago event map, and you get a character outfit for free.

This may sound a little confusing, but the Phantasmal Conches (including both Imaging and Echoing Conches) are part of the Resonating Visions event, which takes place in the time-limited Golden Apple Archipelago region. There are 20 Conches in total, but only 14 of them are currently available. We’ll update this guide as soon as the remaining Conch locations are unlocked.

Collect Conches for a free Fischl outfit

Let’s talk rewards first, shall we? If you find at least 14 Conch locations, you’ll be rewarded with a new outfit for Fischl. This reward can be collected in the Resonating Visions event menu. Don’t forget to claim the other goodies as well: Talent Level-Up Materials, Character Level-Up Materials, Weapon Enhancement Materials, a lot of Mora, and a total of 320 Primogems.

It takes 20 Phantasmal Conches to collect the full reward, but only 16 to claim both the Fischl outfit and Primogems.

How to find Phantasmal Conch locations in Genshin Impact

Genshin Impact Conches look like… well, normal conches. However, they do give off a faint glow. It’s either blue (Echoing Conches) or purple/orange (Imaging Conches). Most importantly, a white Conch icon will pop up on the mini map as soon as you get close enough.

Every Conch has a unique name. If you want to check which Conches you’re missing, open the “Sojourner’s Song” and “The Photographer’s Words” tabs in the Resonating Visions event menu. Whether the Conch is an Echoing or an Imaging One, doesn’t really matter.

Genshin Impact Conch locations: Broken Isle

We’ll start with the Conch locations on Broken Isle, the upper left part of the Golden Apple Archipelago map. This map also includes the central island (location 5). All of these locations are at sea level, so no need for climbing.

  • Conch 1: Secret Mission Log III. On a rock next to the beach.
  • Conch 2: Secret Mission Log IV. At the mountain’s base, on a grassy slope.
  • Conch 3: Secret Mission Log V. On a small rock right next to the water.
  • Conch 4: Ongoing Mission Image II. Close to the beach, beneath the large wooden staircase.
  • Conch 5: Central Camp Image III. At the center of the camp, on top of a wooden box. Naturally, you need a Waverider to reach it.

Genshin Impact Conch locations: Twinning Isle

Genshin Impact Conch locations 2.8 golden apple archipelago

Twinning Isle is situated in the upper right corner of the map. Here are the Conch locations:

  • Conch 1: Secret Mission Log I. Close to the beach, on a grassy slope.
  • Conch 2: Secret Mission Log II. Climb the lower rock on the west side (the previous Conch location is a good starting point). The Conch is on the “bridge” between the twin peaks. If you walk from the top of the smaller peak towards the higher one, the Conch is lying in the grass on your left hand side.
  • Conch 3: Ongoing Mission Image I. On a slightly smaller island, close to the beach. Use the Waverider to get there.

Genshin Impact Conch locations: Minacious Isle

To find Minacious Isle, go to the lower left corner of the map.

  • Conch 1: Secret Mission Log VIII. Below the large rock, near the beach. On top of a small rock.
  • Conch 2: Ongoing Mission Image IV. It’s near the top of the circular opening in the middle of the mountain. To reach it, climb the rocks and then walk over the massive roots. If you follow this path, you will see the Conch lying in front of you, on a small ridge just below the island’s peak.
  • Conch 3: Central Camp Image I. At the top of Minacious Isle.

Genshin Impact Conch locations: Pudding Isle

Genshin Impact Conch locations 2.8 golden apple archipelago

Pudding Isle is in the lower right corner of the Golden Apple Archipelago map.

  • Conch 1: Secret Mission Log VI. Lying on the beach, can’t miss this one.
  • Conch 2: Secret Mission Log VII. Also lying on the beach, southside of the island.
  • Conch 3: Ongoing Mission Image III. Eastern peak of Pudding Isle, next to the Teleport Waypoint. The best way to climb up is by starting in the middle, and then using the roots to reach the more difficult ledges.

That’s every Genshin Impact Imaging and Echoing Conch location for now. Stay tuned for the map update!

A Persona 5 fanzine is facing financial difficulties after its founder allegedly spent the remainder of its budget, with one page artist claiming that an unreported amount was spent on Genshin Impact.

The moderation team of the zine, dubbed ‘Showtime’, explains on Twitter (opens in new tab)that founder and now former head mod ‘Ree’ has been entirely removed from the project after confessing to spending the remaining $27,600 CAD ($21,286 USD) pot of funds on “personal use”, with one the fanzine’s page artists alleging (opens in new tab) that an undisclosed amount was reportedly spent on the popular gacha game. When contacted for comment, Ree confirmed to GamesRadar+ that some of the money was spent on Genshin Impact alongside other “frivolous products” like electronics, plushies, and zines, though necessities like food, rent, clothing, and transportation were also purchased.

We’ve also reached out to Showtime for more information, and will update this story if we hear back.

In a separate statement (opens in new tab), the team adds that the founder returned $3,000 CAD through a loan, though the remaining sum remains gone.

“Ree lied to the mod team about the funds for months and provided misleading and out-of-date banking screenshots to suggest the zine funds were untouched,” a statement from the fanzine reads. “Needless to say, Ree has been removed from the project and will have no further affiliation with Showtime.”

As a result of the alleged swindle, the Showtime team is holding a fundraiser to try and claw back money so they can fulfil remaining customer pre-orders on the fanzine. At the time of writing, 857 Etsy pre-orders have reportedly been fulfilled, though 676 pre-orders remain. The team also say that a zine reprint has been ordered, though there are no more funds left for postage or refunds.

“Proceeds will be used to fulfil fundraiser orders/all outstanding Etsy pre-orders, to reimburse project expenses mods have paid out-of-pocket (pro-rata), and any other necessary project expenses,” the team say. “Any remaining funds will be divided among contributors as originally intended.”

As for the Persona 5 magazine itself, Showtime (opens in new tab) is a fan anthology that focuses on the narrative of  Joker and Akechi’s rivalry, both “platonically or romantically”. Each issue comes with illustrations, comics, and fanfiction alongside other titbits such as prints, sticker sheets, and more.

Here are some of the best Persona games that you will see coming.

Genshin Impact update 2.7 has a new release date following its delay: it will now arrive on Tuesday, May 31, with a reveal stream now coming tomorrow, May 20.

Developer Hoyoverse confirmed (opens in new tab) the updated launch schedule earlier today. Despite rumors and speculation that the Genshin Impact 2.7 delay could push Hoyoverse into shortening the update in order to get the game back on its usual six-week cycle, the studio says “the duration of version 2.7 is expected to be six weeks.”

Update 2.8 is planned to launch on July 13, 2022. However, the ongoing Spices from the West event, which implied that update 2.7 could arrive as late as June, will continue through June 7 as planned. Per Hoyoverse’s previous statement, the weekly compensation given out for the update 2.7 delay will be adjusted, so expect 400 more Primogems to arrive on Wednesday, May 25, and a bit less for the final week.

As usual, the time zone breakdown for the update’s launch means it will technically arrive one day earlier for much of the world. Maintenance will start around 3pm PT / 6pm ET / 11pm BST and should end within five hours. Genshin Impact updates usually go live 30 to 60 minutes before the scheduled maintenance resolution, but especially given 2.7’s launch hurdles, there are no guarantees there.

Hoyoverse says that the long-disabled Serenitea Pot building function will also return once maintenance ends and update 2.7 launches, so you’ll get to update your characters and furniture soon.

The 2.7 reveal stream will air at 5am PT / 8am ET / 1pm BST on the official Genshin Impact Twitch (opens in new tab) channel. It will be posted to the game’s YouTube (opens in new tab) roughly four hours later.

The stream reveal art features new character Yelan as well as the lovable oni Itto. The new four-star character in the update, Kuki Shinobu, is a top member of Itto’s gang so players had suspected the Geo oni would be rerun for update 2.7, and that certainly seems to be the case.

New Genshin Impact character Shikanoin Heizou has already been revealed and should arrive in update 2.8

Genshin Impact version 2.6 update will drop March 30, delivering a new character, region, and more.

Developer HoYoverse has been hyping up version 2.6 for a while, including releasing teaser art for new Hydro character, Kamisato Ayato. But now, the full details on Ayato, among other new features, have now been revealed.

A new area, known as Chasm, has also been revealed properly even though players can already see it on the map ahead of the update. It is similar to Dragonspine, but thankfully not as cold.

The update will also add another Archon quest called “Requiem of the Echoing Depths”, which will shine more light on Khaenri’a and the traveller’s twin and unravel more of the lore and the mystery of Khaenri’a. Anytime Khaenri’a takes centre stage, players know that the mysterious Dainsleif will join the traveller. Players may remember Dainsleif from an earlier quest, who disappeared into the portal after the character’s twin and a fatui Harbinger before the player was allowed to progress into Inazuma.

We’ll also get a festival similar to the Lantern Rite that will take place in Inazuma called “Hues of the Violet Garden”, and a new cooking festival called “Spices from the West” will satiate the player’s palate.

In the new event ‘Hues of the Violet Garden’, the traveller will accompany Ayato during the event, which will comprise of four minigames. He will not be the only character that players will encounter though, as other much-loved characters like Klee, Albedo, and Venti, and the adorable Sayu will be scattered throughout.

Helpfully, the latest update allowed players to earn up to 7620 Primogems, in anticipation of Ayato’s release. This makes for 47 Acquaint Fate, which are necessary for pulling an item, with every 10 assuring you either a 4-star or 5-star item or character.

Version 2.5 saw the release of Yae Miko, Guuji of the Grand Narukami Shrine, as well as a rerun of Raiden Shogun. Many, however, were holding out, waiting for HoYoverse to drop Kamisato Ayato, head of Kamisato Clan and brother to Cryo user Ayaka. His gameplay style was leaked before his official release, and had many saving up their Primogems for the new arrival.

The Genshin Impact Bunkoku Enigma puzzle is one of the trickiest parts of the Three Realms Gateway Offering event. It’s much more than just finding some Stone Slate locations; while on your way, you’ll have to defeat enemies, complete several challenges, and solve a mirror puzzle. In this Bunkoku Enigma guide, we’ll talk you through every step of the way.

Remember that the Genshin Impact Bunkoku Enigma World Quest is a Three Realms Gateway Offering event quest, so you only have until March 30 (when the event ends) to complete it. It’s quite lengthy, so don’t wait until the last minute!

Bunkoku Enigma puzzle location one, underground room

Initially, all you need to do is follow the location markers to find a secret room, and then speak to Yabe again. Turns out you need to find a total of seven Stone Slates in Enkanomiya.

Let’s start with the easiest Stone Slate location, which is the one in the south. Just enter the old chamber through the square opening in the ground (see picture), then grab the two Stone Slates.

Bunkoku Enigma puzzle location two, Stone Slates in the library

Next, go to the stone slate location in the northwest. They’re inside the library (see picture), south of the teleport waypoint. The entrance is opened by activating the Electro mechanisms, but you first need to complete the two Three Realms Gateway Offering event challenges (nearby red mechanisms).

  • One event challenge is a parkour task: collect the Electro orbs before the time runs out.
  • The other is a shooting challenge: hit the barrels before the timer ends. Save some time by equipping a Bow character beforehand.

After lighting the mechanisms with Electro, the library will open. You’ll find three Damaged Stone Slates inside, all in the same room.

Bunkoku Enigma puzzle location three, mirror puzzle

Before you can get to the Stone Slate location, you need to solve a mirror puzzle. Here’s how it works:

  • There’s a mechanism shooting a light beam. You can set it off using the Bukosu Box.
  • The light beam passes through every Hydro mirror, but bounces off every Cryo mirror.
  • You can either freeze or unfreeze the mirrors using Pyro or Cryo attacks. Some can be rotated. This is how you plan the light beam’s path.
  • If you manage to hit the floating stones, you’ve found the mirror puzzle solution.

To complete the first mirror puzzle, copy solution number one in the picture. Rotate the mirror on the left until it aligns with the square, then change the mirrors in the middle to Hydro. Then copy solution number two: the first mirror is still Hydro, but the rest must be Cryo.

After gaining access to the underground area, copy mirror puzzle solution number three. Turn them all to Cryo and rotate the middle ones to guide the light beam in the right direction.

Go downstairs to collect the two Stone Slates and continue Bunkoku Enigma.

Solve the final Bunkoku Enigma puzzle in Three Realms Gateway Offering

Go back to the Stone Slate puzzle location near Yabe. After placing the Stone Slates, you need to move them until they form a picture. If you’re looking for the solution, it’s in the picture (move the Stone Slates twelve times in total).

Drop down to the lower floor, pick up the new Stone Slate, then activate the mechanism again. When you drop down the second time, you need to defeat an unfriendly Pyro spirit.

Let’s rendezvous with Yabe and collect some well-earned rewards for completing the Bunkoku Enigma puzzle!

Back in September 2021, I told everyone and their dog to try Genshin Impact on the grounds that there’s a good reason I’ve played it literally every single day for *checks notes* more than half a pandemic. To the surprise of no one, I still eagerly log into Genshin daily, and it’s only added more reasons to play in the past few months.

Genshin Impact gets easier to recommend with every update, and its recent Enkanomiya patch is particularly engrossing. There’s an enchanting subsurface region full of yet more secrets to unearth, story quests which feature new and returning characters in fun ways, and possibly the best music in a soundtrack which has delivered non-stop anthems since day one.

Other than the release of Inazuma, which is still the biggest new area in the game’s history, this has probably been Genshin’s best update ever, and the weeks ahead look promising. There’s never been a bad time to get into Genshin Impact – it is, after all, free and fun – but now’s an especially good time to make the plunge because players will get quite a treat soon.

Under the sea

Genshin Impact

Enkanomiya is the second sub-area to come to Genshin, putting it in the same category as the arctic mountain range of Dragonspine, and it’s proof that the game’s environments are only getting better. After Dragonspine dropped, I remember wondering if exploration, which is handily my favorite part of Genshin, would eventually get stale. Can I really just hunt for chests and collectibles forever?

Yeah, actually, I can.

It turns out I can happily do exactly that, but only because those chests and collectibles are draped in new mechanics and flanked by spellbinding scenery. There’s something powerfully ancient and primordial about Enkanomiya that separates it from the rest of Genshin, and its central quest line has more of a dramatic edge to it than much of the game’s main story, perhaps thanks to its Greek inspirations. It’s also exciting to see these kinds of sub-areas woven into the main regions in bigger ways, but I won’t spoil the connection there.

I have fond memories of stumbling into a bit of sequence-breaking while poking around for side quests when Inazuma came out, and Enkanomiya tactfully set me up for a similarly electrifying revelation. See, I found a locked gate right by the first checkpoint in the new area and made a note of the named key required to open it. (Side note: if I’m writing shit down on an honest-to-god piece of paper, the game is good.) This key surfaced a few hours later while I was rooting around some ruins, so I eagerly made my way back to that gate to pop it open. This being a video game, obviously there was some treasure inside – locked behind more of Enkanomiya’s clever day-and-night puzzles – but there was also some art on a wall seemingly depicting a sequence of runes. I couldn’t get the runes to do anything, so I just took a screenshot of them and went on my merry way.

Genshin Impact

Fast forward 10 hours of exploration (spread across two full days) and I’ve made my way to an old tower with five magic doors, each emblazoned with a different rune. There’s an activation sequence scrawled on the floor, and sure enough, touching the doors in the specified order triggers something in the environment. Just as I’m about to leave, I remember the wall art that I screenshotted earlier, which showed a different rune sequence. And what do you know, punching in those runes spawns three big-ol’ treasure chests, all for me.

See, these are the little things that actually make me care about a game’s world. All of this stuff was both entirely optional and completely off the main path. There were no waypoints telling me where to find that gate or tower, and no tooltips telling me what those runes meant. Too few open-world games are capable of this kind of restraint, of trusting the player to not only figure things out but also enjoy figuring things out. Many games would’ve left their fingerprints all over the whole process and spoiled the discovery. But not only do I not need you to tell me, video game, I don’t want you to tell me.

I happened to find a mysterious ‘key’ and then, several real days later, I happened to find the ‘lock’ it goes to. It was exhilarating and organic, and infinitely more meaningful precisely because I easily could’ve missed it. The fact that I had to refer to my own notes and screenshots just made the process more exciting and the result more rewarding. And you’d better believe that from that moment onward, every nook and cranny in Enkanomiya was like catnip to me. Who knows what I’ll find next?

Collect your New Year’s money

Genshin Impact

This kind of experience isn’t unique to Enkanomiya; it’s one of the core pillars of Genshin’s world, and that’s probably why I haven’t gotten bored of it. And while you can’t access Enkanomiya until you finish most of the main quest, this isn’t one of those games that gets good after 30 hours. Genshin Impact gets better after 30 hours – and in my experience, is still getting better after hundreds of hours – but it also starts off strong. I’d love to be able to experience the opening regions, Mondstadt and Liyue, with fresh eyes again. New players don’t know how good they’ve got it, said the Genshin boomer, actively disintegrating as he approaches Adventure Rank 59.

Speaking of which: players who start Genshin Impact today, like right the hell now, really don’t know how good they’ve got it. You’ve got until around February 14 to get in while the gettin’s good, but the sooner, the better. We’re coming up on Genshin’s New Year holiday event, you see. That means fun mini-games, stellar animated scenes, and a boat-load of free resources up for grabs, including Fates and Primogems used to unlock new characters and weapons through the game’s gacha system. Not only that, the second half of the current patch will feature some of the best character banners in history.

Genshin Impact

Ganyu, who’s widely regarded as Genshin’s DPS queen, is returning with fabulous four-star characters on each arm: Beidou and Xingqiu, who are both among the strongest support units around. I’d be hard-pressed to build a better banner for a new player to spend their first Wishes on. All we’re missing is Bennett, but you can get him from the item shop anyway. Not only that, the other banner running alongside Ganyu is Zhongli, the comfiest defensive unit there is.

I’d recommend Ganyu over Zhongli to new players since it’s better to secure strong DPS first, but you can’t go wrong with either of these powerhouses. And between the new player and New Year bonuses, you’ve actually got a decent shot at landing one of these five-stars. Your first limited five-star should be someone who’ll put you in their backpack and carry you to the finish line, and Ganyu and Zhongli will definitely do that. Hell, Beidou will do that, and she can carry me any day. She can princess carry my ass through the Spiral Abyss for all I care.

I’ve played and watched a lot of live service games in the past decade, and Genshin Impact’s first year and change has been downright enviable by so many metrics. There have been some minor growing pains and content droughts, sure, but nothing that needed a Destiny 2: Forsaken-grade overhaul. Some of its biggest hang-ups are baked into its gacha DNA, but I’ve learned to love it anyway. It is simply one of the best free games you can play today, and even if it wasn’t free, it’d still be one of the best games to start playing this year.

Need to find the Genshin Impact Onikabuto locations? If you just got Arataki Itto from the Version 2.3 ‘Oni’s Royale’ banner, you probably want a large stack of these little purple beetles as soon as possible. And if you don’t have Itto, but you do want to craft an Electro Treasure Compass, you’re also in the right place.

Here’s how to find lots of Onikabuto in no time!

Onikabuto uses in Genshin Impact

Genshin Impact Onikabuto location guide

The most important use of the Onikabuto local specialty, is as an Ascension material for five-star Geo character Arataki Itto. You need a total of 168 Onikabuto to reach max level with this character.

The only other use (in Genshin Impact Version 2.3) is as a crafting material for the Electro Treasure Compass. You need 30 Onikabuto for this.

If you happen to have a lot of Onikabuto but no Itto, don’t worry. It’s highly likely that the beetles will become part of new recipes, weapon ascensions, or character ascensions in the future.

How to find Onikabuto in Genshin Impact

Of all the local specialties in Genshin Impact, the Onikabuto aren’t the easiest to spot. The purple beetles are sometimes found in plain view, but often hidden behind bushes. They only appear on trees and cliffs in the Inazuma region though.

Shaking a tree will not make them fall down, but they don’t flee either. Keep an eye out for the sparkles that will appear when you’re close enough. And in case you’re wondering; Onikabuto can’t be bought in shops.

The Onikabuto only appear on Narukami, Kannazuka, Yashiori, and Seirai Island. They usually appear in areas with a high Electro concentration, such as Mikage Furnace. We’ll take a closer look at the best Onikabuto locations below.

Onikabuto locations on Narukami Island

  • One is right next to the Court of Flowing Sand Domain entrance.
  • If you follow the road up to the Grand Narukami Shrine starting from Kamisato Estate (the one with all the gaps and fallen trees), you’ll come across several Onikabuto. They’re on the trees alongside the path.
  • After collecting those, jump down into the Mt. Yougou crater. You’ll see several Onikabuto on the big tree branches below you. This is one of the easiest Onikabuto farm locations, so make sure you don’t skip this.
  • The Onikabuto south of Inazuma Cuity are in the caves below. Glide down towards the beach to find the entrance. This is also a great place to farm them.

Onikabuto locations on Kannazuka Island

  • Teleport to the high cliffs west of Mikage Furnace. There are lots of Onikabuto here, especially inside the Thunder Barrier and near the Electro tree.
  • Glide down to Mikage Furnace as well. Most of the Onikabuto are on the walls right in the middle (inside the stone ring with all the houses).
  • There are only four Onikabuto north of the Kujou Encampment. The easiest two to find are the ones on the Electro tree (leave the camp towards the north, keep going until you see the beach).

Onikabuto locations on Yashiori Island

Genshin Impact Onikabuto location guide

  • The Onikabuto are spread across the middle part of Yashiori, but they’re slightly more concentrated near Higi Village and Serpent’s Head.
  • There’s a chasm north of Higi Village. If you look down, you’ll see some tree branches sticking out. There are three or four Onikabuto on those branches (the two smaller circles on the map).
  • There’s one right next to the Teleport Waypoint southeast of Serpent’s Head, and three more close to the serpent’s skeleton (look for rocks and trees, they’re not on the serpent’s remains)

Onikabuto locations on Seirai Island

There’s only one area with Onikabuto on Seirai, and you’ll find only six of them. If you glide down from the nearest Teleport Waypoint, you’ll be able to spot them on the trees alongside the beach. However, as it’s pretty time-consuming to collect them all, the Onikabuto locations on the other islands are better.

Get four free Onikabuto from Shouta in Inazuma City

If you talk to the little boy called Shouta in Inazuma City, you’ll get four Onikabuto for free. All you have to do is ask what he’s doing, and then choose the ‘what did you offer?’ dialogue option. Note that this only works once, so no need to return to Shouta at a later time.

You can find him down the stairs to your left (if you take the northern Teleport Waypoint).

Best of luck on your Onikabuto hunt!

The Genshin Impact Feed the Foxes puzzle is part of the Lost in the Snow World Quest in Dragonspine. As is often the case, the game isn’t going to give you all the details, so don’t feel bad if you aren’t sure about the next steps.

Basically, we’re going to climb a mountain, search for Joel’s father, and feed a bunch of adorable snow foxes. Here’s how to find every Lost in the Snow camp, how to feed the foxes, and how to find the 80th Crimson Agate piece to upgrade your Frostbearing Tree.

We’ll also explain what happened to Joel’s father at the end of this guide, so be careful if you want to avoid spoilers!

Genshin Impact Lost in the Snow: How to start it

Genshin Impact Lost in the Snow

To start the Dragonspine World Quest ‘Lost in the Snow’, you need to speak with a boy called Joel in the adventurer camp in the Mondstadt region. The camp is located northeast of Dragonspine. Once there, you can find Joel standing between the two remaining pillars of an old stone gate, staring at the Dragonspine mountain.

Joel will tell you that his father has gone missing. Your mission is to go into the mountains and find him. It is wise to put a Pyro character on your team, as lighting a fire is often the only way to keep yourself from freezing during this quest.

Find Joel’s Father: Camp 1

Genshin Impact Lost in the Snow

The first part of the quest tells you to follow the Snow-Covered Path. Although it is wise to do as the quest says if you are new to the Dragonspine region, you can also save some time by teleporting.

  • Option 1: just keep following the path from the adventurer camp to Dragonspine and it will eventually lead you to your destination. Just make sure to stay on the main road; when it splits in two, keep to your right. You will find a small abandoned camp just south of the Statue of the Seven.
  • Option 2: if you already unlocked the Statue of the Seven in Dragonspine, you can save time by teleporting there and gliding down from the cliff (away from the mountain). Turn around towards the mountain while gliding down and you will see the camp just below you.

Three Hilichurls will spawn once you reach the camp. Defeat them and read the ‘Neatly-Written Note’ to find out where Joel’s father headed next.

Find Joel’s Father: Camp 2

Genshin Impact Lost in the Snow

The second part of the ‘Lost in the Snow’ quest sends you to the western slope of the Dragonspine mountain. You have to (partly) walk to this camp as there is no Teleport Waypoint nearby. Those who are new to Dragonspine can best continue along the path towards the west. If you already unlocked the Teleport Waypoint near Albedo’s camp, you can save some time by teleporting there and then walking.

Beware of the big Frostarm Lawachurl sitting near the camp. Although you can avoid him, defeating him will grant you a chest containing one Crimson Agate, so you might want to do this before moving on.

You will find a very small camp, with Joel’s Father’s stuff covered in snow. There’s no need to search the area for Scarlet Quartz; you can easily remove this with a Pyro attack. Read the Neatly-Written Notes to discover where Joel’s Father was headed next.

Find Joel’s Father: Camp 3

Genshin Impact Lost in the Snow

The third camp is well-hidden. The easiest way to get there is by teleporting to the Statue of the Seven. However, if you haven’t unlocked it yet, you can also get there from the direction of Albedo’s camp.

  • Option 1: Teleport back to the Statue of the Seven, then walk towards the mountain. You will see a cave entrance and some stairs. After walking up the stairs, turn to your right. There is a stone wall preventing you from reaching the third camp, but you can simply break it by using you Normal Attack. The camp is directly behind the wall. Do not forget to grab the Crimson Agate a little further down the tunnel!
  • Option 2: Go to the Teleport Waypoint near Albedo’s camp (between Wyrmrest Valley and the Entombed City). Climb the mountain (towards the south) until you reach a cave entrance. Grab the Crimson Agate, defeat the Slimes and continue down the tunnel until you reach the camp.

Whichever way you choose, you need to read the Scribbled Notes at the campsite to get a clue about what happened to Joel’s father.

How to feed the foxes in Genshin Impact

Genshin Impact Lost in the Snow

In the third camp, Joel’s Father will ask you through his notes to feed the foxes. Although you have now unlocked the feeding option, you don’t need to do it as part of the ‘Lost in the Snow’ quest. If you decide to skip this for now, remember the location for later (you’ll need the Crimson Agate eventually).

To start supporting the local wildlife straight away, you need to place two berries in the bowl next to the cooking pot. Repeat this for five or six days (real-time days, not in-game days!), until you find a chest upon your return. The Crimson Agate is inside. Opening the chest will also complete the ‘Untellable Tale’ achievement.

Some players seem to be worried whether the foxes respawn if you (let’s assume accidentally) kill them. Luckily, the foxes seem to respawn daily. Be careful when trying to snap a selfie with them, though. Furthermore, the foxes will not appear immediately. If you return on the second day, you will see a snow fox eating the berries.

What happened to Joel’s father?

Genshin Impact Lost in the Snow

Don’t let the foxes distract you too much; Joel is still waiting for news about his father! Just return to the adventurer camp and speak to Joel again to complete ‘Lost in the Snow’. You will get 40 Primogems, 300 Adventure Rank EXP, Mora, and some Weapon- and Character Level-up Materials in return for your hard work.

Are you still unsure about what happened to Joel’s father? Although his last messages in the third camp already suggested the worst, those who are interested in learning more can find an additional clue near the campsite. Remember how Joel’s father wrote about having the ‘The Boar Princess’ in his backpack? Go down the steep slope towards the north (close to Albedo’s camp), and you will find a backpack lying at the bottom, containing… The Boar Princess.

You have now completed what is perhaps the saddest story in Genshin Impact yet. All there’s left to do is feed the foxes for a few more days until you get your Crimson Agate. Good luck!

How many free Primogems do you get in Genshin Impact? A newly released account tracker called the Traveler’s Diary answers that and more.

MiHoYo announced (opens in new tab) the Traveler’s Diary this week, describing it as a way to “check the amount of Primogems and Mora that you have obtained in the last three months and how you obtained them.” You need to download and log into the company’s HoYoLab mobile app to access this feature, but the information on offer is well worth the minor setup.

For now, the Traveler’s Diary tracks your last three months of Primogem and Mora earnings – this window may expand in the future to match the in-game Wish tracker, for instance, but we don’t know for sure. Because free Primogems are tracked monthly, this tool isn’t a perfect reflection of Genshin Impact’s six-week patches, but this app is still quite useful. You can see where your Primogems came from – mail rewards, activities, events, exploration, and more – and if you open up the details page, you can even see exactly when you obtained each and every Primogem and Mora, right down the minute.

Players have tracked free rewards on their own for some time, but this officially quantifies exactly how many Primogems players can earn just by playing the game. This doesn’t account for the individual Acquainted and Intertwined Fates given out (which are automatically stored as free wishes), but those are relatively few and far between compared to chunks of Primogems, so this is still a decent representation of how many Wishes free-to-play players can earn.

Let’s look at update 2.1. Update 2.2 is just a few days old, so most of the free Primogems given out in October thus far can be attributed to update 2.1, as can the lion’s share of September. With those two figures combined, we can get a rough Primogem total for the previous patch cycle. Assuming you completed all the events and explored the majority of the new areas, you would’ve raked in something in the range of 10,000 to 11,000 Primogems, or around 60 to 70 Wishes. This figure was boosted by the 1,600 Primogem anniversary mail reward, putting it above the rough average of 50 Wishes per patch. If you add in the free Fates from fixtures like the Inazuma sakura tree, update 2.1 basically gave out a five-star character assuming you measure against the soft pity of 75 Wishes, which isn’t half bad.

New Genshin Impact character Kokomi has gotten mixed reactions from players, echoing some concerns from a previous update about Yoimiya being clunky and underpowered.

Sangonomiya Kokomi is a five-star hydro catalyst user who’s been positioned as a healer and support character. Her role is clearly defined by a passive ability which drops her critical rate by 100% in exchange for a 25% healing bonus. Developer MiHoYo stopped just short of writing “she isn’t a main DPS” up in lights, though that hasn’t stopped some players from overcapping her critical stats to let her deal (meager) critical damage. But there’s no question that her 25% healing bonus is less valuable than the ability to land critical hits, and this trade-off has largely exemplified Kokomi’s split reception.

Many players have argued (opens in new tab) that her abilities lack synergy and feel “half-baked”. Kokomi is heavily reliant on her elemental burst but needs other characters to generate energy so that she can use it regularly, for instance, and while she’s meant to be a supporting healer, many of her talents and constellations focus on her damage output rather than her healing. Others pointed out (opens in new tab) that her inability to deal critical hits also prevents her from using the Favonius weapons, which is a bummer since they provide bonus energy that would not only increase her team utility but also improve her burst uptime. Genshin Impact’s most popular healers do much more than just heal you, and Kokomi is fighting a losing battle there.

However, while Kokomi’s damage output has quite a low cap, other players have pointed out (opens in new tab) that her high HP and consistent healing make her a “comfy” on-field character who can act as a vehicle for support damage dealers. By pairing her with characters like Xingqiu, Beidou, Raiden Shogun, Kazuha, or Xiangling, you can use Kokomi’s hydro application to trigger a storm of elemental reactions while keeping your entire team at full health, as this video from reputable theorycrafter IWinToLose Gaming (opens in new tab) shows. This makes Kokomi a tanky alternative to characters like Tartaglia and Mona. In this situation, her minimal damage is just an added bonus; she’s more of an enabler than anything. By adding in support artifact sets like Tenacity of the Millelith, which boosts Kokomi’s HP and your team’s attack, you can also lean into the support role in a way her passive talents kind of don’t.

Conversations in the dedicated Kokomi Mains Reddit (opens in new tab) and Discord communities have followed a similar pattern. Plenty of players love her aesthetic and enjoy her safe play style, while many others wish her kit focused on either healing or damage to give her a clearer purpose. Both sides seem to agree that her inability to deal critical hits and generate energy for her own, utterly essential elemental burst are incredibly limiting and contribute to her awkwardness. This is reflected in early reports of Kokomi’s (opens in new tab) day-one Chinese banner sales (Chinese users represent the vast majority of the Genshin Impact player base), which are said to be among the lowest in the game’s history based on limited data.

Kokomi has come at an awkward time in general as Genshin Impact anniversary reward contests spark community outrage.
