The post The Game of Thrones season 7 trailer could be here VERY soon (if this prediction is correct) appeared first on Game News.
]]>What Culture (opens in new tab)have crunched the numbers and worked out that it all comes down to 21 days. There were exactly three weeks between the first teaser on March 9th, the Long Walk teaser on March 30th and, finally, the brand-new images on April 20th.
No need to check the calendar, though. 21 days from April 20th is, May 11th which is umm, today.
The theory certainly makes a lot of sense, one gap of three weeks followed by another of equal length can’t be written off as simple coincidence. Or maybe HBO are setting us up for yet more Westerosi heartbreak, the big ol’ meanies.
Let’s cross our fingers and pray to the Many-Faced God that we’ll be feasting our eyes on the full trailer at some point today.

]]>The post Jorah has opened up about his Game of Thrones season 7 role – and it sounds like good news! appeared first on Game News.
]]>Speaking to Winter is Coming (opens in new tab), as reported by The Sun (opens in new tab), Glen knows his time might be up sooner rather than later in Game of Thrones season 7 (opens in new tab) – but it’s probably not going to be the greyscale that gets him: “There’s quite a high death count in Game of Thrones and they don’t blanch at removing favourite characters. They just get rid of them in a brutal way. My end may well be close but so far I’m doing okay.”
He’s… doing okay? That’s definitely an upgrade from when we last left him, slowly dying from greyscale and emotionally crippled from overexposure to the friend zone. Anyways, reading between the lines, someone who has greyscale definitely wouldn’t describe themselves as ‘okay’… right? That stuff will kill you. And quick.
We already knew that Jorah was returning in Game of Thrones season 7 (opens in new tab), and some behind-the-scenes shots (opens in new tab) (spoilers within) have hinted at a change in fortunes for everyone’s favourite mercenary. Praise be to the (season) Seven!

]]>The post Game of Thrones Stannis originally had a much more emotional death – and here it is appeared first on Game News.
]]>A Reddit user (opens in new tab)has pored over the script for the Game of Thrones season 5 finale and found a few extra lines that really punctuate the (emotional) pain Stannis was feeling in his final moments:
STANNIS: Do you believe in the life to come?
(Brienne nods)
STANNIS: I don’t. But if I’m wrong, and you’re right… tell Renly I’m sorry when you get there. I don’t imagine I’ll see him wherever I’m going. (beat) And my daughter. Tell her… tell her…
(‘Sorry’ doesn’t even begin to cover what he feels about Shireen. The thought of it brings tears to his eyes, and he’s not going to die weeping in front of a woman he doesn’t know. Stannis stares up at her.)
STANNIS: Go on, do your duty.
Compare that to the final cut of Stannis’ demise (pun absolutely intended) and it definitely adds an extra layer of emotional depth to one of Westeros’ most complex characters.
Prefer the final version of a stoic Stannis or do you wish you had seen Stannis the Mannis get all weepy in front of Brienne? Sound off in the comments!

]]>The post Game of Thrones season 7 finale concept art leaked – major characters meet for the first time appeared first on Game News.
]]>The concept art (helpfully labelled “Game of Thrones VII. Dragonpit Entrance”) was first seen on Reddit (opens in new tab)and reported by Watchers on the Wall (opens in new tab) and is a mashup of stills taken from the show itself and an artist’s depiction of the Dragonpit. The Dragonpit was used, before falling into disrepair, as a place to keep those pesky dragons under a watchful eye in King’s Landing.

The concept art shows Bronn and Tyrion reunited outside the ruins of the Dragonpit with a figure that looks suspiciously like Jon Snow (who has briefly met Tyrion in season 1 and has never met Bronn) facing them as the Dragonpit entrance in the background stands (un)invitingly open.
There have been whispers that the Mother of Dragons, the Breaker of Chains yada yada yada (Dany for short) will also make an appearance at the Dragonpit which surely means things are about to get fiery in Westeros. Let’s hope the season doesn’t drag on (ahem) to make the wait for this moment even more excruciating than it already is – because it’s going to be goooood.
Game of Thrones season 7 debuts this summer on HBO in the US and Sky Atlantic in the UK.

]]>The post Maisie Williams says even the Game of Thrones cast dont know season 7s full plot but the finales “exciting” appeared first on Game News.
]]>Speaking on BBC Radio 1 with Nick Grimshaw (available for UK listeners here (opens in new tab)), Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) says that cast members only get bits and pieces of their scripts, so they have to go on their own fact-finding missions, “I make educated guesses and we try and get answers and bits of information from the writers, but they keep it close to their chest.”
Talking of keeping things close to their chest, the actress wasn’t very open about the upcoming season seven finale but her brief response will whet even the most jaded Thrones fan’s appetite: “It’s so exciting…it’s just a great finale, it makes me excited for the series after.”
Following on from previous Thrones finales (including last year’s effort Winds of Winter (opens in new tab) which literally brought the house down) will be a tough task, though…
The “series after” that Maisie Williams talks about? Well, Game of Thrones season 8 could have six episodes (opens in new tab), eight or ten – depending on who you want to believe (opens in new tab). What is for certain is that we’re in for a hell of a ride getting there.
Game of Thrones season 7 will air this summer on HBO.

]]>Watchers on the Wall (opens in new tab) have eyes everywhere – like the three-eyed Raven – and they show that everyone’s favourite undead Stark, Benjen (played by Joseph Mawle) has been spotted near filming locations in Belfast with Iain Glen (Jorah) and Kristofer Hivju (Tormund). Kit Harington has also been seen in the Northern Irish capital.

This follows on from previous rumours of a large-scale battle taking place in a quarry beyond the Wall (opens in new tab). We last saw Benjen escorting Bran and Meera to the Wall but having to turn back because he’s, well… a bit dead. This battle could bring Benjen back into the fold in a big way.
Right then, who’s looking forward to Uncle Ben (no, not that one) possibly teaming up with Jon, Jorah and Tormund to fight off an army of White Walkers? Expect plenty of man-hugs and sad times.

]]>The post Games of Thrones Sophie Turner talks about Sansa becoming Queen of the North in season 7 appeared first on Game News.
]]>Talking to The Wrap (opens in new tab) about how she sees Sansa and Snow getting on in the new season Turner says, “I, personally, as Sophie, think they would be a perfect sort of collaboration because he’s the military man and she’s the politician. Together they’re quite a strong team as long as they listen to each other, and that’s their problem; they don’t quite work well together yet. But, on paper, it’s perfect.”
However, the way she talks about the pair, the fact that they ‘don’t quite work together’ could be a bit more of an issue than just the odd huffy stomp out of the throne room. “I think she probably would like to be Queen of the North on her own,” says Turner, “or again she probably just wants Jon to listen to her. If Jon had listened to her in the beginning then she would be very happy collaborating with him, so it’s just a bit frustrating.”
While that’s no confirmation of anything, it certainly sounds like Turner has had… thoughts about her character’s motivation. We’ll just have to wait until summer next year to see how it actually plays out.
Game of Thrones season 7 will debut in summer 2017.

]]>If the latest rumour (via Reddit (opens in new tab)) is to be believed then Rhaegar could be making an appearance in season 7, and he’ll be played by none other than Devin Oliver. Check out the US singer’s Instagram post – which is captioned “I may or may not have made an appearance in Game of Thrones season 7” – below…

In addition to the fact that Oliver is a singer (Rhaegar sings to Lyanna in George RR Martin’s books), this rumour seems to be getting a lot of traction because Oliver’s hair is apparently a perfect match for Rhaegar’s, which seems like suspect reasoning at best.
With that said, unlikely does not mean impossible, so there may yet be some truth to this latest bit of Game of Thrones scuttlebutt. We’ll have to wait until next year to find out.

]]>The post That Game of Thrones death scene in season 6 was meant to be even more gruesome appeared first on Game News.
]]>There isn’t much television that’s more violent than Game of Thrones (opens in new tab) – which has had its fair share of gory deaths in its 60 episodes to date – but apparently even the HBO show has its limits when it comes to depicting its characters’ brutal demises on screen.
According to visual effects company Image Engine – who were responsible for all 72 of the deaths in Game of Thrones’ sixth season – the (very satisfying) death by dog of Ramsay Bolton was meant to be even more gruesome. Supervisor Mat Krentz told Variety (opens in new tab) that his team created and animated a CGI jaw that would be ripped from Ramsay’s face, but it was ultimately decided that the effect was too gruesome.
Check out a breakdown of Image Engine’s season 6 work below…
I doubt many would have complained if Ramsay’s death was more graphic, but the scene that made it to air still had the desired impact. Added focus on Ramsay’s final moments might have detracted from Sansa’s cold-as-ice enjoyment of her torturer’s demise too, and that’s arguably the highlight of the entire sequence.
Don’t expect Game of Thrones to pull many more of its punches when season 7 debuts in summer 2017.

While some of those translations are almost identical to the English version – that’d be the Danish, Norwegian, and Dutch takes – there are others which are a bit of a stretch to say the least (the Hebrew translation is particularly hilarious). It does mean that there’s a good chance the scene didn’t hit as hard in some international territories, which is a little unfortunate.
