You’ll find the Far Cry 6 Cache Money treasure hunt by Esperanza west checkpoint, just outside of Esperanza in Madrugada. The treasure hunt icon will appear if you get close but there’s also a chance you’ll get intel on it from speaking to any guerillas with the black exclam point over their heads. Once you know where you’re going, head to this Aguas Lindas building:

You’ll need to take a little care getting in if you don’t want any trouble, as there’s a lot of traffic going through the gate and a sniper tower overlooking everything. Once you’re inside, however, things are fairly clear.
This is the building you’re looking for, with the treasure hunt note on the guard booth by the barrier that explains Bunker 2 must remain closed at all times.

Once inside the bunker head down the corridor to reach an office and storage areas (check the desk for an Assassin’s Creed Easter egg note). Shoot the lock to get in the cage for some resources and a key card for the locked door. Inside the office look for a switch behind the desk to open a secret passage and inside there you’ll find the Sobek Special sniper rifle, a unique weapon with explosive bullets.

]]>The post Far Cry 6 best gear and builds appeared first on Game News.
]]>
While there’s a lot of Far Cry 6 gear sets with five gear pieces for each one, they’re not all equivalent by any means. A gear set might have four terrible pieces and one fantastic one, or maybe a gear piece is so contextual that it’s only helpful in very specific circumstances. For that reason, we’ve listed some of the better individual pieces, that you can slot into whatever gear you’ve already found or help contribute to any specific builds you’ve been bui- assembling.
Check below to find all manner of gear to help you fight through Far Cry 6, and go lower than that to find some builds that you can try out to help you master certain forms of gameplay.

For the more stealthy Guerrilla, you absolutely should get the Dark Tech Boots, which boost your speed while crouching and effectively bring you up to the standard movement speed. If you do a lot of takedowns and stabbings, this is pretty great, allowing you to sidle up to Castillos as fast as possible.
You can buy Dark Tech boots from Juan’s Arms Dealers for 700 Yaran Pesos, and you don’t need to build anything to unlock them. This is a real must-have purchase and we highly recommend it.

For those who dabble in stealth and melee, the Fifteen Wishes bracelet rewards you for playing up close and personal, granting you Yaran Pesos for every takedown you make. It’s not a huge amount, but if it’s something you’re doing regularly, you’ll suddenly have a lot more Pesos than you would’ve normally, financing future purchases, bribes and upgrades.

The Fifteen Wishes can be found as part of the Passing the Torch treasure hunt in the middle of Sierra Perdida (South El Este), along with a new weapon and other, lesser rewards. Just flick the three switches in buildings nearby to open the hut with it inside.

This one is an early get, but it remains good pretty late into the game, as the Fuego Mitts put out fire on Dani automatically. It won’t stop you from taking fire damage if some hired goon puts a flamethrower in your face, but it means you’re protected from the very common “on fire” condition which has to manually be put out and prevents you from taking certain actions while it is.

The Fuego Mitts are given to you by Julio in the early campaign mission “Fire and Fury”, used to protect you while you burn down tobacco fields. Fortunately, you get to keep them for the rest of the game after that.

The upgraded Hazmat Gloves grant the player bonus damage – a lot of bonus damage – against enemies who are poisoned. This sounds pretty contextual, but it really doesn’t have to be with the right loadout. Get the Besito Resolver Weapon and some poison grenades, and you’ll find yourself pretty effectively working your way through opponents, a lot of which are turned to your side along the way.

Despite being an upgraded “MK II” gear type, you can get this very early on. Just go to our Far Cry 6 Criptograma Chests location guide and find the first chest at North Armonia – you won’t even have to leave the first island.

A lot of Far Cry 6 gear will reduce the damage you take from certain kinds of attack, but not by a huge amount and their specificity makes it hard to build a proper tanky build – what protects you from certain damage won’t help against others. That being said, the biggest dangers in Far Cry 6 by our experience tend to be from explosive and blast attacks – grenades, tank shells, trip wires and so on. That makes the Impact Vest a solid option, which reduces damage taken from anything that goes boom. You can buy the Impact Vest from Juan’s Arm Dealers for 500 Yaran Pesos, no Bandidos Barracks needed.

Oku’s Deliverance are a set of spirit-powered trousers that grant Dani a damage bonus to enemies beneath them. It’s tempting to write this off as a sniper’s set, but the reality is that players do a lot of combat from a height advantage, whether firing SMGs from balconies or taking cover on rooftops as the army swarms around them. The damage bonus seemed pretty noteworthy for us, and while it’s not clear how much higher you have to be, we found it triggering from about a floor above the opponent, so you don’t need to go climbing any radio towers for it.

Oku’s Deliverance are found at Fort Oro as part of the Far Cry 6 Triada Blessings Relics quest, which we’ve outlined how to complete at the link here. In fact, you can get the whole Triada set as part of that mission, to say nothing of the other great rewards you can get from it.

While some gear provides you with just bonuses to existing stats, other gear will provide new abilities altogether. The Scrounger Jeans are a relatively early-game purchase that means that vehicles are auto-repaired simply while you’re sitting in them. Sure, some of you may not use vehicles all too often when wingsuits and horses are available, but some missions will lock you into using them, and that’s when Scrounger Jeans are a godsend. You can buy these from Juan’s Arms Dealers for 300 Yaran Pesos, without needing to build the Bandidos Barracks.

These boots improve your maximum stamina, giving you greater sprint times. It’s not a ground-breaking ability, but considering how often life and death can depend on your ability to reach safety in time, it could be what makes the difference in numerous dangerous situations. You can get these boots from Juan’s Arms Dealers for 450 Yaran Pesos.

It’s not especially flashy as abilities go, but the Street Surgeon Helmet makes you tougher in all respects after healing yourself. It’s not especially notable at first, but we found we had to take a lot less cover and protective measures once this was strapped on. Once you’re in danger in Far Cry 6 you tend to get put on the defensive, fleeing from explosives and constantly trying to hold onto the last bits of your life. This helmet effectively gives you a chance to retaliate, restoring your health and keeping as much of it as possible while you open fire back. You can buy it from Juan’s Arms Dealers for 500 Yaran Pesos, without needing to build any new buildings at the camps.

It’s worth noting that despite gear coming in sets and coming with a button to equip the whole set at once, there is no such thing as a Far Cry 6 gear set bonus, as there are in many games with gear sets. Wearing all five pieces of the Fuego set, for example, doesn’t give you any extra perks beyond the advantages given by all the five pieces individually. For that reason, you shouldn’t compromise your outfit by trying to aim for a full set, because it won’t get you anything extra for doing so. Frankly, just go for the mismatched hat if you want it.

With the addition of gear this means players can effectively make Far Cry 6 builds, developing what they have towards their preferred strategy. We’ve put together some ideas for builds, including weapon and Supremo choices, seeing as gear is rarely the most important part of the way you set yourself up. Like above, these builds are largely steered towards early players, to help them get down the fundamentals before experimenting on their own terms, and it’s why we’re focused on essentials rather than finding something for every equipment slot. Other gear and weapons will help and you’ll find ones that compliment what you have, but this is what you need.

Simple – the stealth build is about being as quiet and effective at any range, allowing you to kill from all distances and stay as quiet as possible. The Dark Tech Boots keep you going fast while Oluwa’s Heart, also obtained from the Triada Blessings quest, means you’ll stay quiet while doing so. Meanwhile, El Susurro and a sniper rifle with a silencer on it mean you’ll have short-and-close range domination, and La Triador will let you see enemies through walls to ensure you know where your foes are.

For those who want to ensure as fast as annihilation of the enemy as possible, we put together this build designed for maximum damage in all situations, close or short range. Oku’s Deliverance helps for the extra weapon damage across the board, the boots let you get in or out of trouble more easily and the Impact Gloves allow you to trigger grenades on enemies you takedown for extra kills. We picked the Grenade Launcher over the RPG for its greater versatility and control. Meanwhile, a shotgun/LMG combo will have you covered at all ranges, the Pyrotechno will buy you a moment to recover or push forward, and the Exterminador is your “time to win the fight” button.

Our tank build is based around using the El Muro, a fantastic early Resolver Weapon that protects Dani with a big metal shield and a shotgun on the other hand. Combine that with the Furioso for the dash-power, and this is based around protecting yourself from the front and closing in on opponents to blow their heads off. The Impact Vest takes the edge off Blast Damage, the only thing the shield seems to struggle against, and the Fuego Mitts prevent you from setting yourself on fire with the Furioso.

The Far Cry 6 A Rising Tide code can be found by locating a series of named boats with numbers – like the one you can see up there – and then using the names and numbers to press some buttons inside that building to open a door. You could search around to find all the boats, which we’ll get to later, or you can just explore under that building in the picture where you’ll find a note with the answer:

That note has the boat names in the order you need to press them. So all you have to do now is go inside and press the buttons with the corresponding names in the order on the list.

When you’ve done that the door will pop and you can collect the reward inside: a unique rifle called Camo Quinceanera. It comes with soft target rounds, a 3x tactical site and laser pointer, as well as some mods to improve holster and reload speeds. It’s not a bad rifle if you get it early but if you find it later in the game you might be a little underwhelmed.

Now, if you want to do the full challenge properly in full, then you’ll need to find all the boats scattered around the village and check the numbered signs with them. These boats are all brightly colored so you can ignore any of the mossy, dull ones you see. The first boat you need is the pink one we highlighted earlier, which is easy to find in the centre of the town. From there look to the right and follow the wooden walkway down to a building with a zip line to this boat:

Now go back to the pink boat and turn left until you see a blue boat on a roof on the far side of the road:

Drop down into the back yard from this building and follow it along to the left and you should see a yellow boat on another roof:

Those are actually all the boats you can find so don’t go mad looking for the Roja Victoria, it’s missing. With the boats you’ve found you’l have the following information:
From there you can work out the order as it appears in the cheat note you can find: El Tigre, Papi Chulo, El Lucky, Clarita, Roja Victoria. Press the buttons in that order and you’re done.

]]>Earlier today, VG Tech (opens in new tab) uploaded a 17-minute gameplay video of Far Cry 6, showcasing the same gameplay segment of Ubisoft’s new shooter running on PS5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. Overall, the VG Tech video discovers that Far Cry 6 manages to maintain 60 frames per second near-constantly across all three consoles.
The game is certainly put through its paces, as VG Tech showcases hectic combat scenarios and fast-paced driving action, with protagonist Dani gunning down soldiers and swerving around vehicles at high speed on the roads of Yara. All three new-gen consoles manage to maintain 60FPS throughout the sequences, albeit for some very minor dips in certain driving scenarios.
It’s a pretty good testament to the tech behind Ubisoft’s new game, if anything. In the comments section underneath the original video on YouTube though, VG Tech reveals that although both PS5 and Xbox Series X both utilize dynamic resolution tech, it’s the latter that emerges the clear victor with the greater maximum resolution of 3840×2160, over the PS5’s max resolution of 3392×1908.
You can head over to our full Far Cry 6 review for more, where Rachel writes that it “marks a new era for the Far Cry series and delivers more explosive action and adventure than ever before, even as the story fumbles some of its more upsetting plot points.”

]]>The post Far Cry 6 PS5 and Xbox Series X versions drop ray tracing appeared first on Game News.
]]>Earlier this week, Wccftech (opens in new tab) reported that Far Cry 6 would be limiting ray tracing features to PC only, skipping out PS5 and Xbox Series X. In a statement provided to TechRadar (opens in new tab) shortly after the interview, Ubisoft confirmed the news, stating that they would be dropping ray tracing for the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of Far Cry 6 to prioritize 60FPS.
“Ray Tracing is a PC-only feature,” the statement from Ubisoft reads. “On console our objective has been to take advantage of new hardware capabilities, optimizing performance targeting 4K and achieving 60FPS for instance, all while ensuring that the experience on the previous generation of console would remain consistent.”
This is somewhat surprising, since Watch Dogs Legion, Ubisoft’s blockbuster from late 2020, supported ray tracing on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. Ray tracing was utilized in Watch Dogs Legion for some impressive shadow and reflection details, and it was even offered for the Xbox Series S version of the game, albeit at a far lower graphical fidelity. Watch Dogs Legion never achieved 60FPS on new-gen consoles though, opting for ray tracing and better graphics instead.
Far Cry 6 launches next month on October 7, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. Like Watch Dogs Legion before it though, Ubisoft is offering a free new-gen upgrade to anyone who purchases any version of the upcoming game on either PS4 or Xbox One.

]]>The post New Far Cry 6 trailer is two minutes of Giancarlo Esposito taunting you appeared first on Game News.
]]>“I’m preparing to bring you my most monstrous villain yet,” Esposito says. “Far Cry is known for its larger-than-life villains,” he adds later on, dropping from a smile into a perfect sour, deadpan look with ease. “This is a legacy I intend to honor.”
Another trailer (opens in new tab) shows Esposito inspecting a rebel-made flamethrower, which will surely get a lot of use in our chaotic trek through Yara. His evaluation is… unfavorable. “That’s an excellent piece of equipment if you’re looking for a battle with an unfinished crème brûlée,” he says.
We really get a sense of Esposito’s experience and Castillo’s character in two additional trailers answering fan mail (opens in new tab) and offering “real (not fake) gameplay tips) (opens in new tab)“. The actor confirms that players can, of course, pet the disabled battle dog Chorizo, and maintains that Antón is a biological guardian to Danny, the young boy featured in previous trailers.
He also encourages players to try some innovative strategies in Far Cry 6, such as turning in your weapons, leaving your lethal animal allies at base so they don’t get harmed or lost in combat (honestly, we were considering this already), and aiming rocket launchers at your allies for a laugh. Esposito is mighty convincing, so who are we to say no?
The newly revealed Far Cry 6 roadmap confirms new operations, a Danny Trejo appearance, and a Stranger Things crossover.

This announcement from Ubisoft follows just a few days after Sony reneged on one of its new-gen upgrade promises. You might recall that PlayStation announced last year in September that Horizon Forbidden West would allow players to upgrade their PS4 versions of the game to the PS5 version at no extra charge.
Just last week however, PlayStation reversed this policy, announcing that those who wanted to upgrade their PS4 versions of Horizon Forbidden West would need to purchase either the Digital Deluxe, Collector’s, or Regalla Editions of the game, the cheapest of which retails for $80/£80. After widespread criticism, PlayStation walked this announcement back (opens in new tab), pledging to uphold their previous policy of free new-gen upgrades for Horizon Forbidden West.
As for Far Cry 6 though, Ubisoft is guaranteeing free upgrades for all players on both platforms – a signficantly more simple position. The next entry in Ubisoft’s shooter series launches on October 7, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Google Stadia.

]]>The post Far Cry 6 trailer interviews a dictator and sparks a revolution appeared first on Game News.
]]>The trailer begins with an international journalist interviewing Anton Castillo, the Yaran ruler portrayed by Giancarlo Esposito – while he’s poised and driven, it doesn’t take long for his usual menace to creep in. Then we meet several members of the revolution opposing his rule, including our very own protagonist Dani Rojas, and cap it all off with – what else – just the sort of high-flying, explosive battles that fans have come to expect from the Far Cry series.
Far Cry 6 enmeshes players in the political strife of Yara, an island nation in Castillo’s crushing grip. His authoritarian rule is challenged by a growing revolution, with main character Rojas at the center. The trick is that the dictator’s son Diego doesn’t seem to be entirely on board with the regime either; while that could be a ready source of division for the revolution to exploit, it also means Anton is ready to bring down hell on anybody who comes between him and his boy.
Far Cry 6 was originally set to be released in February 2021, however pandemic-related issues have seen it pushed back a handful of times. It’s now set to be released on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and Stadia on October 7.
Once it arrives later this year, hopefully Far Cry 6 will earn a high place in our list of the best Far Cry games.

]]>The post Far Cry 6 rating hints at the darker side of Yara appeared first on Game News.
]]>A provisional Mature 17+ rating was provided last month, but the full rating (opens in new tab) has now been posted on the American Entertainment Software Rating Board website. That Mature rating has been upheld, which is no surprise given the mentions of “intense violence,” “strong language,” and “use of drugs and alcohol” featured in the game.
The rating summary goes into plenty of extra detail. The use of firearms, flamethrowers, and explosives should come as no surprise to any Far Cry fans, nor the “frequent screams of pain […] and blood-spatter effects during combat. Cutscenes get a little darker, however, with the rating describing prisoners being beaten and executions via firing squad, as well as “dismembered corpses or severed limbs amid pools of blood.”
Elsewhere, it seems that player character Dani will find the opportunity for a little downtime on Yara, as in one cutscene, she’s seen “drinking alcohol as the screen gets progressively distorted.” The rating summary also references drug use, with depictions of drug packages and characters referencing illegal substances.
While things might get a bit bleak for Dani and the rest of Yara’s resistance at times, the rating should come as no surprise for long-term fans of the series. Every single entry, all the way back to 2004’s original Far Cry, has shipped with an M rating from the ESRB.
Far Cry 6 is due to release on October 21, but we’ve already learned a good deal about the upcoming game and its setting, the Cuba-inspired island of Yara. While Ubisoft is encouraging us to explore the new location, one thing that won’t be returning is the series’ map editor, as the developers want to focus on other aspects of the game. That includes a mystery Far Cry 6 endgame that will be revealed later this summer, as well as a Season Pass that will make villains from past games playable within Far Cry 6 .
Ubisoft might have plenty of games on the horizon, but they aren’t the only ones – to keep track, here’s our list of new games 2021.

Given that the Far Cry 6 leaks came from a major platform, not to mention the timing of their appearance, there was never any doubt that we’d see Far Cry 6 this weekend. Still, it’s cool to have confirmation. We’re just two days away from the next Far Cry, folks.
Original story:
A Far Cry 6 (opens in new tab) leak on Hong Kong’s PlayStation Store has seemingly revealed the key art, setting, synopsis, and release date for an upcoming sequel in Ubisoft’s first-person shooter series.
The listing for the game (opens in new tab) appears to confirm that Giancarlo Esposito (a.k.a Gus Fring from Breaking Bad) will be Far Cry 6’s new central villain.
There’s also details explaining how this next title in the franchise will be launching on PS5 (opens in new tab) and Xbox Series X (opens in new tab) in addition to PS4 and Xbox One, with a free next-gen upgrade available for anyone who purchases a copy of the game on the latter systems.

The accompanying description for Far Cry 6 on the PSN page reads as follows:
“Welcome to Yara, a tropical paradise frozen in time. As the dictator of Yara, Anton Castillo is intent on restoring his nation back to its former glory by any means, with his son, Diego, following in his bloody footsteps. Their ruthless oppression has ignited a revolution.
FIGHT FOR FREEDOM
Play as Dani Rojas, a local Yaran and become a guerrilla fighter to liberate the nation
YARA TORN APART
Fight against Anton’s troops in the largest Far Cry playground to date across jungles, beaches and Esperanza the capital city of Yara
GUERRILLA FIREPOWER
Employ makeshift weapons, vehicles, and Amigos, the new Fangs for Hire to burn the tyrannical regime to the ground”
Esposito himself, clearly seen on the accompanying cover art, was teasing his involvement with a major game (opens in new tab) just a few weeks ago. It appears that the project he was referring to was this one.
Ubisoft itself hasn’t confirmed anything Far Cry shaped as of yet, nor offered comment on this latest leak, but the publisher’s Ubisoft Forward (opens in new tab) event is taking place this Sunday in lieu of an E3 2020 press conference. If this Far Cry 6 blowout is indeed legitimate, then we’ll likely hear more about it then.
