The post Netflix pays tribute to dead Stranger Things character with new billboard appeared first on Game News.
]]>Netflix has unveiled a new billboard dedicated to a dead Stranger Things character, who was killed in the fantasy horror show’s fourth season. The Duffer brothers – and Noah Schnapp – warned us there would be casualties in the two-part finale to season 4, but viewers were still left shocked and devastated when fan-favorite Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn) bled out after being bitten by a bunch of Demobats in episode 9. The Dungeons & Dragons-loving metalhead had been tasked with distracting the winged beasts alongside Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo), so that Robin, Steve, and Nancy could attack villain Vecna‘s body in the Upside Down.

At first, their plan to put on the loudest, “most metal” rock concert worked, and drew the creatures towards the alternate version of Eddie’s real-world trailer. But when the bats started coming through the vents, the duo bailed – or at least Dustin did. Plagued by his guilt for running away when cheerleader Chrissy, Vecna’s first victim of the season, was murdered, he vows not to flee this time and instead, bursts out of the trailer and bikes down the road to buy the others some more time. Sadly, for Eddie, the swarm catches up with him and by the time Dustin re-enters the dark dimension and kneels by his side, he’s already fading.
“I didn’t run this time, right?” the Hellfire Club leader asks Dustin as he lay dying. “I think it’s my year, Henderson. I think it’s finally my year. I love you man.” A hero’s outing if ever we saw one, and Netflix has honored his brave actions by erecting a display panel that says, “Eddie freaking Munson.”
Yesterday (July 6), the streamer tweeted out a photo of the billboard alongside the words, “The Man, The Myth, The Legend.” And the platform isn’t the only one paying tribute to the character. If you’re still hung up on what happened, then check out our heartfelt reaction to Stranger Things’ Eddie death, or if you want to torture yourself, then read up on all of the Stranger Things season 4, Volume 2 deaths.

]]>Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer have a hard time letting go of their characters. Not only have they admitted it themselves, but lead actor Millie Bobby Brown has called them out for only killing off a handful since the Netflix show began in 2016.
Stranger Things season 4, Volume 2 saw a couple of villains and a hero meet their demise, however, and now the duo has confirmed that one character in particular is “definitively” dead: Matthew Modine’s villainous Dr. Martin Brenner.
“For real this time. He’s toast,” the pair joked while appearing on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast (opens in new tab), referencing how Brenner was believed to have wiped out by a Demogorgon way back in season 1, only to resurface in the most recent installment. (Modine did show up in season 2, but the scenes in question were flashbacks).
The scientist, who used to carry out tests on Eleven and the other superpowered children at Hawkins National Lab, was fatally shot by Lieutenant Colonel Sullivan’s troops in the eighth episode of season 4, titled ‘Papa’, as he tried to carry a sedated Eleven away from the compromised NINA Project compound. While he was the one that drugged her before placing a shock collar around her neck, he tells Eleven as he bleeds out that he’s always seen her as is family. A master manipulator with murky morals until the very end, eh, Martin?
Elsewhere in the new interview, the Duffers stated that everyone’s favorite D&D-loving metalhead Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn) is “sadly” gone, too – having been attacked be a bunch of Demobats. But that’s fortunately not the case for Sadie Sink’s Max Mayfield, who just about escaped with her life after using herself as bait for big bad Vecna in episode 9.
“She’s brain dead, but yeah, she’s alive. She’s blind and all of her bones are broken, but yeah, she’s doing great, Josh,” they teased. “She’s seen better days.”

]]>The post Who is Jake Lockley? Moon Knights third personality in Marvel comics explained appeared first on Game News.
]]>Moon Knight episode 6 finally answers the question viewers have been waiting for, and while we won’t spoil all the details here (you can read on for more about that), the hints the series has been planting all along come to fruition in the show’s finale.
And it seems that many of viewers worst fears about how Lockley could fit into Marc Spector’s life seem to be well-founded – which is a bit of a departure from Lockley’s comic book personality.
In Marvel comics, Jake Lockley plays a specific role in how Moon Knight operates and we’ve got all the answers to your questions about what it could mean for the Moon Knight finale and the future of the character in the MCU.

Originally, Moon Knight’s opposing personalities were depicted as disguises taken up by Marc Spector to further his personal goals as a crimefighter (you can read all about how Marc Spector became the avatar of Khonshu and what that means here).
While the core identity of mercenary Marc Spector remained Moon Knight’s traditional secret identity, he adopted the guise of posh millionaire Steven Grant to hobnob with the white-collar criminals at the top of society’s ladder (a marked difference from Grant’s somewhat timid portrayal in the MCU).
And on the other side of the coin, Spector took on the identity of Jake Lockley, a rough-and-tumble cab driver with his finger on the pulse of the deepest reaches of the seedy underworld and a wealth of criminal connections (not unlike Batman’s alter ego Matches Malone).

(opens in new tab)
While undercover as Jake Lockley, Moon Knight developed a network of informants and spies that allowed him to stay one step ahead of his enemies and criminal targets. But at the same time, the addition of Lockley to Spector’s arsenal of disguises marked the start of his deeper struggles with his identity.
Stretched thin maintaining the ongoing lives of Moon Knight, Steven Grant, Jake Lockley, and of course his core identity cause Marc Spector to start psychologically fraying at the edges, with Khonshu‘s mystical influence complicating things even further.
Though Moon Knight’s many personalities were initially shown as disguises and alter egos rather than full-on dissociative identities, he eventually broke down with his dormant Dissociative Identity Disorder fully fracturing his mind into separate personalities with their own interior lives, memories, and awareness.
Moon Knight still uses the various skillsets of his different alters as part of his mission, much like he’s also developed different incarnations of his superhero identity such as the ‘Mr. Knight’ persona – but their relationships with one another are consistently evolving, sometimes contentiously.

Moon Knight episode 6 wraps up the showdown between the philosophies of Khonshu and Ammit, with Moon Knight and Arthur Harrow (their respective Avatars) finally duking it out in a superhero-size showdown.
In the end, it seems Marc Spector may be done with Khonshu. And though he initially fears that Khonshu will claim Layla as his new Avatar, something much worse for Spector actually happens – Jake Lockley arrives.
Waiting all the way until the episode’s final scene, Harrow (with the essence of Ammit trapped inside him thanks to the villain’s defeat) is escorted into a car where Khonshu is sitting. As Harrow tells Khonshu he can’t interfere or kill Ammit, Khonshu signals the car’s driver – who turns around to reveal Marc Spector’s face, but who Khonshu introduces as “Jake Lockley.”

(opens in new tab)
Khonshu states that Marc Spector was much more broken than even Marc himself realized, allowing Khonshu to take on Lockley as the most violent aspect of his Avatar – a role it seems he’s fully fallen into now that the fight against Ammit has ended.
With that, Lockley shoots and kills Harrow, and presumably Ammit with him, and that’s it for the Moon Knight streaming series … at least the first season, anyway.
In this one act, it seems all the violent outbursts and hidden murders committed by Marc Spector, which were implied to be the product of a hidden, third persona, are seemingly revealed as the work of Jake Lockley, as expected.
Lockley’s emergence may signal bad news for the larger MCU – especially if Khonshu’s bloodthirsty methods are amped up by his brutal new Avatar. The comic book story Avengers: Age of Khonshu may offer some clues to the worst possible outcome of Lockley as Khonshu’s Avatar.
In that story, Khonshu empowers Moon Knight to take on the entire Avengers, as he tried to remake the world in his image to prevent the rise of the devilish villain Mephisto. Could Jake Lockley’s arrival set up Moon Knight as an actual MCU villain in his next appearance?
We’ll have to wait to see where that is. Moon Knight season 2? A feature film appearance?
Marvel hasn’t revealed where Oscar Isaac, Moon Knight, and Jake Lockley will show up next, but the final scene makes it pretty clear he’ll be back, perhaps to the detriment of the entire MCU.
Moon Knight is just one of the new characters coming to the MCU, including Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, Dane Whitman-Black Knight, Jane Foster Thor, America Chavez, Blade, and Eros/Starfox.

]]>As spotted in the Elden Ring subreddit (opens in new tab), one player shared a screenshot of the creature laying on its back with all its tiny appendages on full display, and to say it’s creepy is probably an understatement. The prawn-like pest can be found in a number of places including the Sellia Crystal Tunnel, Caelid Waypoint Ruins, Church of the Plague, and more. Just brace yourself before you try to flip one of these bad boys over yourself.
It looks like we aren’t the only ones creeped out by this discovery as the comments of the post contain a tonne of replies along the lines of “now I have another reason to hate this vile creature” (opens in new tab) and “that’s disgusting, thank you for sharing.” (opens in new tab)

One fan in the comments decided to make things even worse for us though by sharing a theory (opens in new tab) that says the Lesser Kindred of Rot is actually “super sentient” and possibly “more intelligent than the player and other ‘humans'” due to it worshipping Malenia or the rot god in the lake of rot, meaning they’re smart enough to build a culture around whoever they worship.
In other, slightly less gross, Elden Ring news, Bandai Namco has rolled out a brand new Elden Ring patch which fixes Malenia’s broken lifestealing attacks. According to the 1.04.1 patch notes, the fix in question apparently stops Malenia from healing herself when her lifesteal attacks weren’t connecting. An issue that was noticed just a week prior to the latest update and following the 1.04 patch.

]]>The post Netflix scraps plans for new Will Smith movie following Oscars slap appeared first on Game News.
]]>Directed by Suicide Squad helmer David Ayer, the movie also stars Joel Edgerton, Noomi Rapace, Lucy Fry, Édgar Ramírez, and Ike Barinholtz. Smith plays an LAPD officer who’s partnered with the country’s first orc police officer, played by Edgerton, in a world where magic is real but illegal. The pair are tasked with protecting a magic wand and the elf girl (Fry) who wields it – those who can do so are known as “Brights”.
Despite receiving generally negative reviews, the movie became one of Netflix’s most-streamed originals. In December 2017, the same month as the original movie’s release, the streamer ordered a sequel, but filming was continually delayed due to Smith’s busy schedule.
Although the platform has not given a reason for the cancelation, this isn’t the first Smith project to be shelved after the actor slapped Chris Rock on stage at the 2022 Oscars. Another Netflix movie, Fast and Loose, is also now on the backburner.
Smith has since apologized for the incident. “I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris,” reads a statement posted to Smith’s social media account. “I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.”
In the post, Smith calls violence, in all of its forms, “poisonous and destructive”, and describes his behavior at the Oscars are “unacceptable and inexcusable”

In fact, artist Ribic’s work has such a strong impact on the film, at least one shot shown in the trailer is taken almost directly from one of Ribic’s panels from Thor: God of Thunder.
What’s more, though we haven’t seen his official look for movies, Ribic is the co-creator of Gorr the God Butcher. He’s also the artist who designed Jane Foster’s costume as Thor as well as drawing her first appearance wielding Mjolnir in Thor: God of Thunder #25 (opens in new tab), before the secret identity of the new Thor was even revealed as Jane Foster.

(opens in new tab)
After Ribic’s run on Thor: God of Thunder, artist Russell Dauterman took over as the main artist of Aaron’s 2014 launching volume of the simply titled Thor (opens in new tab), with Jane Foster in the title role, as well as the subsequent volume, Mighty Thor (opens in new tab), which concluded Jane’s story as Thor (though she’s picking Mjolnir back up in comics just in time for the release of Love and Thunder this summer). Dauterman put his own spin on Jane’s look as Thor, as well as redefining a sci-fi influenced, high fantasy look for Asgard and its inhabitants.

(opens in new tab)
The influence of both Ribic and Dauterman’s art on Thor: Love and Thunder, down to the direct recreation of some of Ribic’s work on Thor: God of Thunder, highlights just how crucial the design and storytelling work by comic artists is to the process of creating superhero movies.
Jane Foster is just one of the heroes who are worthy of wielding Mjolnir.

]]>“Yeah, I don’t know. We’ll see,” Andoh told Radio Times (opens in new tab). “The books are so huge. And they’ve gone so many different ways in the stories. Nenneke is in the books a lot. But it depends what they want to do with, you know, this version of it.”
Andoh appeared in two episodes of The Witcher season 2 as Nenneke, the priestess at the Temple of Melitele who offered counsel and guidance to Geralt and Ciri. Fans of Andrzej Sapkowski’s books and short stories will be acutely aware that Nenneke returns later in the series – though not in the Time of Contempt, the novel that The Witcher season 3 is set to adapt.

We’re likely to find out soon whether Nenneke is back in the third season. That’s because The Witcher season 3 has begun filming. There’s even a synopsis to tide us over in the meantime, which teases Ciri and Yennefer upping sticks to a familiar location.
It reads: “As monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri of Cintra into hiding, determined to protect his newly reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it. Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where she hopes to discover more about the girl’s untapped powers; instead, they discover they’ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery. They must fight back, put everything on the line – or risk losing each other forever.”
Even if the Continent doesn’t come calling for Andoh, she’s likely going to reprise her role as Lady Banbury in Bridgerton season 3. For more on some of Netflix’s most bingeable series, check out our collection of the best Netflix shows.

]]>According to Deadline (opens in new tab), Garcia will portray a queen, the mother of Tony Revolori’s unnamed character. It’s also a landmark moment elsewhere, as Garcia’s casting marks the first time a trans actor has played a cis character in a Disney Plus movie or series.
This follows on from other milestone steps at Disney, including Raya and the Last Dragon’s Patti Harrison becoming the first trans actor to voice a character in a Disney animated movie.
Garcia and Revolori – who is best known to MCU fans as Flash Thompson in the recent Marvel/Sony trilogy of Spider-Man movies – will be joined by Willow himself, Warwick Davis. Rounding out the cast is Erin Kellyman, Ellie Bamber, and Ruby Cruz.
Willow, the spin-off series of the cult 1988 fantasy, is mooted for a 2022 release and joins a wave of Lucasfilm projects currently in the works.
As of writing, those include Indiana Jones 5 – starring Harrison Ford and Phoebe Waller-Bridge – and multiple Star Wars projects. The Mandalorian season 3, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, Andor, and movies from both Kevin Feige and Taika Waititi in a galaxy far, far away are just some of what we have to look forward to from Lucasfilm over the coming years. Its next release, the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, has recently shifted release dates to May 27 – though will release its first two episodes at once.

]]>Written and directed by Game Night’s Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, the adaptation of the role-playing game of the same name will see the likes of Regé-Jean Page, Sophia Lillis, Justice Smith, Michelle Rodriguez, and Hugh Grant share the screen with the Star Trek actor.
For now, plot details are being kept firmly under wraps, but Pine’s recent interview with Collider (opens in new tab) has given us some very welcome clues in regards to its tone.
“Well, what I will say is we had a hell of a fun time making it. There was a lot of laughs,” he told the publication. “The way that I’ve been describing it, it’s like Game of Thrones mixed with a little Princess Bride, [and] just a smidge of [Monty Python’s] Holy Grail.
“It’s somewhere in that ballpark. It’s a lot of fun. It’s got a lot of thrills. It’s poppy, it’s eighties heartfelt, there’s a bit of Goonies in there.”
Pine also revealed a little something about his character, branding him “the ultimate party planner.” That’s all we’re getting for now, though, when it comes to specifics.
“I think it’s going to be really good. I mean, who fucking knows, but I think we got a good shot and the directors Jon and John are killer guys,” Pine gushed. “They know comedy, they know heart and we had a great cast, and we had a good time making it. That’s all you can ask for.”
