With E3 2019 (opens in new tab) winding down it’s time to look back across the week and imagine what could have been. Sure, there are loads of really awesome E3 2019 games (opens in new tab) to look forward to now, but we can’t help but think about all of the missing games of E3 2019. There are a handful of notable absences – from Elder Scrolls 6 to The Last of Us: Part 2 – that we thought it would be well worth digging into. To that end, we have rounded up what we believe to be the biggest missing games of E3 2019 and have attempted to explain why each of them skipped out on the party.

The Elder Scrolls 6

Platform(s): TBA
Release date: TBA

Elder Scrolls 6 (opens in new tab) is still a long, long way off by the sound of things, and we already knew it wouldn’t be at E3 2019 (though Todd Howard did dare to speak its name during the Bethesda E3 2019 show). Given how little we have to go on at the moment, it’s very likely that Elder Scrolls 6 will arrive on the next generation of consoles ushered in by the PS5 (opens in new tab) and Xbox Project Scarlett (opens in new tab), so it’s totally understandable that it’d have nothing to show at E3 2019. Still, that doesn’t make the waiting any easier, especially considering we won’t be getting it until after the launch of the equally mysterious Starfield.

Gears Tactics

Platform(s): PC
Release date: TBA

At E3 2018, Microsoft pushed the Gears of War franchise harder than it has ever done in the past. Alongside the reveal of Gears 5 and Gears Pop! it also showed pre-alpha footage of Gears Tactics in action. The game, set to be a real-time strategy game for PC looked pretty awesome but it was sadly absent from Microsoft’s E3 2019 briefing. Microsoft has since confirmed that Gears Tactics is still in development in an effort to quell fears that the game had been cancelled – it hasn’t been seen for a year after all – but provided no further clarification as to when the upcoming game would come back into the public eye.

Death Stranding

Platform(s): PS4
Release date: November 8, 2019

Sony E3 2019 was an underwhelming affair because, well, PlayStation wasn’t there. Thankfully, Death Stranding (opens in new tab) went big in the weeks leading up to E3 2019. Hideo Kojima got to throw fans a bone with a huge new Death Stranding trailer (opens in new tab) two weeks before E3, but its absence was felt at this year’s show after it featured so prominently since its big debut at E3 2016. The good news is that the Death Stranding release date (opens in new tab) is locked in for later this year, so Kojima fans won’t have to wait long to see the game in full. The bad news is that we have no idea when we’ll get to hear about those other PlayStation exclusives, as Sony continues work on the PS5 lineup behind the scenes.

Metroid Prime 4

Platform(s): Switch
Release date: TBA

All it took for Nintendo to make people’s heads explode at E3 2017 was a logo reveal for Metroid Prime 4 (opens in new tab), confirming that a new game in the sci-fi FPS series starring Samus Aran is in development. But this past January, Nintendo delivered the bad news that the game needed to be delayed and rebooted (opens in new tab) after it was failing to meet internal standards. On the upside, Metroid Prime 4 is now being developed by Retro Studios, which made the original Metroid Prime trilogy, though the team is still looking to fill some key roles (opens in new tab). With Retro Studios needing to restart everything from scratch, there was no way Metroid Prime 4 could ever be ready to be shown at E3 2019.

Starfield

Platform(s): TBA
Release date: TBA

Bethesda had a fairly strong showing at E3 2019, but many of us were left disappointed by the lack of Starfield (opens in new tab) and The Elder Scrolls 6 information. Todd Howard gave both titles a passing mention in the Bethesda E3 2019 conference, confirming that development was moving forward, but failed to share any further details. This isn’t a huge surprise, the studio told us the pair of games wouldn’t be at E3 ahead of the show starting, but that didn’t stop any of us from hoping that we were being lied to. Here’s hoping that we get more info on Bethesda’s ambitious sci-fi game before the year’s end.

Beyond Good and Evil 2

Jade in Beyond Good and Evil 2

Platform(s): TBA
Release date: TBA

Beyond Good and Evil 2 (opens in new tab) went from leaked trailer vaporware (remember Jade parkouring around that nondescript city?) to an actual, in-development project in 2017, but it’s still tough to get a bead on Ubisoft’s plans for the game. Case in point: a Beyond Good & Evil 2 stream that took place the week before E3 2019. Most companies would use that kind of time slot to get out ahead of the publicity blowout and share some big news about their projects. Beyond Good and Evil 2 used that time to show us to concept art of animal-human hybrids dying and some pot-smoking rhinos (opens in new tab). Once that stream was over, it was pretty clear that Ubisoft had no big intentions for Beyond Good and Evil 2 at E3 2019. Maybe it will kick back into gear once the new console generation begins?

Bayonetta 3

Platform(s): Switch
Release date: TBA

It’s a miracle Bayonetta 3 (opens in new tab) is in development at all given the rocky road Bayonetta 2 faced, but Platinum Games says the sequel is coming along well despite skipping E3 2019. In an interview with NintendoLife (opens in new tab), studio head Atsushi Inaba said: “Things are going well and I know a lot of people are asking for it. Giving updates for everything at E3 isn’t the smartest PR strategy to begin with. So just because we’re not showing it here, doesn’t mean it’s not going well.” He also assured concerned players that “it’s going to be a high-quality title and we’re putting our all into it,” which is precisely why the studio’s staying silent for now. Bayonetta was great and Bayonetta 2 was phenomenal, so there’s little doubt Bayonetta 3 will be worth the wait. In the meantime, Switch owners have Platinum’s Astral Chain coming this August.

The Last of Us: Part 2

Platform(s): PS4
Release date: TBA

We are desperate for more information on The Last of Us: Part 2 (opens in new tab). Naughty Dog has been hard at work on the highly anticipated sequel for years now and many had hoped that Sony would give The Last of Us: Part 2 the State of Play treatment during the week of E3 in an effort to pull some attention away from Microsoft and its slew of announcements. Sadly, that didn’t come to be. The time will soon be upon us, however, for more details to be revealed; questions regarding its supposed 2019 release date are starting to be asked, as too are questions over whether it will be a PS4 game or positioned as a PS5 launch title.

Session

Platform(s): Xbox One, PC
Release date: Late 2019

In our timeline where EA vehemently refuses to confirm Skate 4 (opens in new tab), Microsoft used that absence to its advantage by channeling all that skateboarding game hype into Session (opens in new tab) with an impressive trailer the Xbox E3 2018 press conference. This 3D skating game has a similar emphasis on lifelike tricks, and looks great despite being made on a Kickstarter budget rather than EA’s deep pockets. But as developer Vincent Da Silva posted in a Kickstarter update (opens in new tab) near the end of May, the team decided to skip E3 to keep plugging away on the game. “With early access getting closer every day, we knew it would have an impact on the development,” said Silva, “so we decided to stay focused on developing Session instead.”

Skull and Bones

Platform(s): PS4, Xbox One, PC
Release date: TBA

Here’s another no-show we knew about ahead of time, but anyone who didn’t hear the news about the latest Skull and Bones delay (opens in new tab) might’ve been thrown when it didn’t show up in the Ubisoft E3 2019 show. The multiplayer ship-vs-ship battles between pirates and naval officers in Skull and Bones (opens in new tab) need more time in the dock, with producer Karl Luhe saying “We will be back as soon as we can with exciting new updates.” Until then, the earliest you can expect to play Skull and Bones is April 2020, as the recent Ubisoft earnings call placed its release date sometime in the 2020/2021 fiscal year.

Need For Speed

Platform(s): TBA
Release date: TBA

EA had a pretty light showing at E3 2019. While we knew we were never going to get the Skate 4 we’ve all been dreaming of for a decade, we were hoping to get a sneak peak at the new Need for Speed (opens in new tab) game that’s in development. Criterion has since confirmed that the new entry to the long-running series is happening and, amazingly, will be launching later this year. Details are thin on the ground, but it sounds as if Criterion opted to skip E3 2019 to continue working on the game. Stay tuned, basically! Need for Speed is coming back and we truly do hope that the studio is able to get it back into the right lane after a divisive few entries.

Nioh 2

Platform(s): TBA
Release date: TBA

Here’s the thing, Nioh 2 is technically – technically – a PS4 console-exclusive, which meant developer Team Ninja opted to follow suit with Sony and skip out on showing its latest samurai action game off at E3 2019. Revealed at last year’s Sony E3 conference, the game seems to be moving through development nicely. In fact, word out of the recent Nioh 2 closed alpha (opens in new tab) were positive enough and a good sign that the game is still on the right path. Nothing to worry about here, it’s business as usual over at Team Ninja even if we were a little disappointed we didn’t get to see a new Nioh 2 trailer.

Age of Empires 4

Platform(s): PC
Release date: TBA

RTS fans have been dying for news on Age of Empires 4 (opens in new tab), a new entry in the legendary strategy series featuring a wide range of civilizations and time periods of war. It’s being developed by Relic Entertainment, the same studio behind beloved RTS series like Company of Heroes and Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War. In an interview with PC Gamer (opens in new tab), Xbox boss Phil Spencer explained why we didn’t get to see Age of Empires 4 during the Xbox E3 2019 show. “We’ll talk about it more this year,” he said, adding “Relic’s great as a studio, [and] we’re making good progress with it.” To tide Age of Empires fans over, Microsoft is launching Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition later this year, which remasters the 1999 original with 4K-ready visuals and a new campaign called The Last Khans.

In The Valley of Gods

Platform(s): PC
Release date: TBA

Firewatch (opens in new tab) was a humdinger of a debut game for Campo Santo: it was evocative, funny, and expertly subverted expectations. In The Valley of Gods (opens in new tab) looked like a fantastic follow-up when it was announced in 2017. Then Valve bought Campo Santo (opens in new tab) and all expectations of a normal development schedule dissolved into the quantic phenomenon known as Valve time. The developers formerly known as Campo Santo announced the acquisition with assurances that In The Valley of Gods was still their top priority, and I don’t doubt that’s still the case. But with how long it’s been since we’ve heard anything new about the game, it’s hard not to imagine them all just wheeling their desks over to this project for a few weeks, then that project for a few weeks… until it’s E3 2019 and we still barely know anything about it.

Dragon Age 4

Platform(s): TBA
Release date: TBA

Back in December 2018, BioWare revealed that Dragon Age 4 (opens in new tab) – as we’ve taken to calling it, in lieu of an official name – was a real game that was definitely in development. Then Anthem happened and, well, you know the rest. While it was reported that the Anthem creative leads had moved to working on Dragon Age 4 full time (opens in new tab), and that BioWare was pushing for Dragon Age 4 live-service elements (opens in new tab) internally, it also sounds like development has been tricky. BioWare is still very early in production, which made its absense from E3 2019 expected but no less disappointing.

Fable 4

Platform(s): TBA
Release date: TBA

What happened Microsoft? The fact that Playground Games is working on Fable 4 (opens in new tab) is practically an open secret in the wider games industry now, thanks in no small part to numerous Fable 4 leaks (opens in new tab) and clear signs that the studio is working on a third-person open-world adventure game. Playground was purchased by Microsoft last year and so it looked as if the stars were aligning to give us the reveal we’ve spent so many years waiting for. Sadly, the Xbox E3 2019 conference came and went without ever a mention of the legendary Xbox franchise. It is yet to be confirmed that this game exists, but we are now holding out hope for the Xbox fan event this November, XO19, which is being held in London, could be where Fable 4 is finally shown to the world.

Rocksteady’s new game

Platform(s): TBA
Release date: TBA

Rocksteady, what are you doing to us? The studio behind the critically acclaimed Batman Arkham series of games has been suspiciously quiet since it release Batman Arkham VR back in 2016, sadly it skipped E3 for the second year in a row. Aware that fans would be disappointed, Rocksteady’s co-founder Sefton Hill clarified that the upcoming mystery game wouldn’t be at E3 2019 (opens in new tab) to continue work on its next big project. It means we are still no closer to knowing what Rocksteady is working on, outside of the knowledge that it will 100% not be a Superman game (opens in new tab). Here’s hoping we aren’t made to wait for a year to see what the team is working on.

Ghost of Tsushima

Platform(s): PS4
Release date: TBA

It’s been a long time since we last received an update on Ghost of Tsushima (opens in new tab). The upcoming open-world samurai game from developer Sucker Punch, set to let you explore 13th century Japan as you battle back against Mongol invaders, has long been one of our most anticipated PS4 games. Sadly, the game was forced to bow out of E3 2019 when Sony made the decision to skip the annual event entirely. That means we’ll be waiting a little longer to find out whether rumours of Ghost of Tsushima slipping to 2020 (opens in new tab) are true, and to see whether it’s still set to launch on PS4 or whether it’ll end up as a PS5 launch title.

For a look at a long-awaited game that was at the show, check out our E3 2019 preview of Marvel’s Avengers (opens in new tab):

There’s dramatic irony, and then there’s the The Outer Worlds (opens in new tab) and the way it is relentlessly satirising corporatism when its makers have just been acquired by one of the largest corporations in the world. Given their penchant for seeing the funny side of things, though, it wouldn’t be surprising if the developers at Obsidian haven’t already cracked that joke with each other several times since Microsoft picked them up last year, howling at the absurdity of it all. It’s no easy feat to make a video game that’s both funny and compelling, after all, but The Outer Worlds hands-on preview at E3 2019 (opens in new tab) suggests that this esteemed studio is still more than capable of repeating the successes of its cult classic Fallout: New Vegas.

From seducing robots in binary code to discovering a pen full of “cystypigs” (genetically engineered sow bred to grow bacon flavoured tumors for public consumption, obviously), The Outer Worlds is already tickling rib cages as potentially one of, if not the funniest game of the year. As aforementioned, much of that humor derives from the game’s pointed jabs at the excesses of capitalism, via its setting of a faraway space colony owned and run completely by private industry. Dan McPhee, The Outer Worlds’ Narrative Designer, explains why Obsidian decided to point the spotlight on consumer culture for this particular space western adventure.

“It gives us some fun stories to play with that we can’t really tell in other settings,” he explains. “The general theme of this very corporatised rule-based society is that everyone wants to have a job and work their way up the ladder, and that gives us a lot of room to work with player freedom in a way that other games don’t.” Thus, as part of Obsidian’s world building for this heavily commercialised new frontier, the player will come across all manner of weird and wonderful advertisements for its fictitious marketplace of sci-fi products. Think Fallout’s Nuka-Cola, then imagine entering a galactic superstore where that’s just one item on the shelf, and you get the idea.

False advertising

When I asked which of these fake commercials were the most fun to create, McPhee starts rattling off several at once, which gives you a good idea of the level of imagination that goes into even the smallest details of Obsidian’s latest universe. “There are so many! I like Spacer’s Choice because their slogan is ‘It’s not the best choice. It’s Spacer’s Choice.’ There’s also a product in the game called Saltuna which is technically salmon and tuna genetically mixed, but everyone just thinks it’s salty tuna!”

That scrappy, absurdist aura of comedy bleeds into The Outer Worlds’ gameplay, too, especially with regards to its character progression system, made up primarily by Obsidian’s familiar system of perks and flaws. Fight too many robots, for instance, and your completely customisable hero can find themselves plagued with Robophobia, which awards you with an extra perk point, but makes you weaker in combat during any future encounters with robots.

“A lot of perks are systems-based depending on your build,” McPhee tells me. “We’ve put in a lot of perks to suit a variety of different playstyles. Depending on your stats, for example, your character can be of below average intelligence, which unlocks dumb dialogue when speaking with other NPCs. That’s a super fun thing to play with, and a fun call back to New Vegas, too, which hopefully a lot of fans can appreciate.”

Alternatively, invest enough points into your character’s powers of persuasion, and they can charm their way out of several situations, with other potential dialogue options including the ability to lie, intimidate, and even potentially romance. During the demo, which sees you infiltrate a factory farm harbouring those aforementioned cystypigs, we encountered several suspicious guards who approached with accusatory questioning, but each tailored dialogue response from our wiley spacefarer provided an impressively convincing set of answers.

Final frontier

That level of player freedom extends to everything in The Outer Worlds, which frequently presents narrative splintering decisions for players to carve out their own stories, but never punishes you with the kind of binary morality systems that role-playing veterans are used to. In that sense, The Outer Worlds is shaping up to be a distinctly Obsidian RPG in all the right ways, with all the character depth, emergent freedom, and narrative complexity that Bethesda fans in particular have been dying to see more of since 2015’s Fallout 4 (opens in new tab).

In the absence of a game of that nature from Bethesda itself anytime soon, The Outer Worlds might just look like the next best thing by default, but don’t be fooled. This has every chance of becoming your favourite new reason to avoid all social gatherings, lose countless hours of sleep, and never leave the house again.

The Outer Worlds release date (opens in new tab) is set for October 25, 2019, when it launches on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Division 2 raid matchmaking has been a point of contention for most of The Division 2 (opens in new tab) community since the Division 2 raid (opens in new tab) launched over a month ago. Unlike the standard missions and strongholds in the game where you can search for players to complete it with, there’s nothing similar for the Division 2 raid matchmaking. Players need to find a group of like-minded folk via different means to complete the raid with, rather than simply searching for a lobby to join. Massive has previously said this is because the raid is so tough and requires a lot of communication to complete it, but we spoke to them more at E3 and they said they’re “working on solutions” to Division 2 raid matchmaking:

“I think the important part is that we know players want to see the content, they want to play the raid, and I don’t blame them, it’s a lot of fun,” Massive told us. “We’re working on solutions for matchmaking without a doubt. I would hate for players to be thrown into traditional matchmaking schemes for something as hard as what our raid is and so it needs to be treated with care. I’m happy we’ve taken the approach we have and I’m looking forward to getting the solution out there so more players can play.”

There’s no word on what that solution is or when it will be introduced, but they’ve at least confirmed they’re trying to implement something. Another hot topic surrounding the Division 2 raid however is the difficulty level, because PC players managed to complete the raid in around five hours, whereas it took those on console over three days. That’s right, three whole days. Unfortunately for those struggling on consoles, Massive has also told us they won’t be making the raid easier in any way.

“I think it’s a difference just between platform. I wouldn’t want to make any mechanical changes to the content, I think the console players, they have some challenges that I know they can overcome, it’s just getting to that point. That’s always tough. That’s the debate raging on universally, PC master race and all that kind of stuff. I’m happy to see our console players doing it, I play on console and we do a tremendous amount of testing on console. We make sure to put controllers in the hands of our testers so it’s not just mouse and keyboard, we know everything they’re feeling. When we start getting metrics for how long a raid takes to finish, how a boss fight plays, it’s with sticks in our hands, as opposed to mouse and keyboard. We test it all.”

There you have it. If you can’t finish the raid, Massive essentially wants you to “git gud”, but the upcoming “solution” to raid matchmaking may help you find skilled players to complete it with later down the line. Here’s hoping it comes out before the next raid which was revealed to be part of episode two when they announced all of the upcoming Division 2 episodes (opens in new tab) for year one.

As I said in my Doom Eternal preview (opens in new tab), the upcoming sequel – now due on November 22 – is fun as hell. It makes some big changes to Doom 2016’s already sterling formula, including a total multiplayer overhaul revealed during the Bethesda E3 2019 conference. As executive producer Marty Stratton of developer id Software told IGN in a recent interview, Doom Eternal’s multiplayer is ditching the standard deathmatch mode of the original game in favor of Battlemode, a new custom game type that pits the Doom Slayer against two player-controlled demons.

“When you look back to Doom 2016, we kind of did something more traditional,” Stratton said. “Skill vs skill, twitch vs twitch. It didn’t have any of the components of Doom that people loved from the campaign. It didn’t have the Slayer or demons in a meaningful way. It just kind of fell flat, so we really flipped the script on it and decided we need to develop this internally, we need to pull it from what Doom is all about, demons vs slayer.”

Creative director Hugo Martin added that “with demons, I can overcome someone’s twitch skills with strategy and teamwork, and that was the spark” behind Battlemode. Bethesda and id wanted to double down on Doom’s fundamentals in Battlemode and Doom Eternal as a whole, which lines up with what we heard from Stratton when we spoke to him about Doom’s SnapMap level builder, which was also axed in the name of refocusing.

“We’ve taken the energy and time and money that we put into SnapMap and doubled back down on what we’re doing with the campaign,” Stratton said. “Making it even bigger, bolder, broader, and also our approach to the PvP side of things. And honestly, I couldn’t be happier. I think what you’ll see is the result of that effort and that extra time and money. SnapMap was cool, but it really felt like the investment needed to go into things that people were really coming to the game for.”

The specifics of Battlemode are still up in the air: Do you unlock new demons to play? Does the person who gets to play as the Doom Slayer change each round? But on paper, it’s a promising multiplayer reinvention that should mesh better with what makes Doom, Doom.

Here’s everything you need to know about all the big E3 2019 games (opens in new tab). If you’re looking for some more experimental and compact titles, check out our list of the best indie games (opens in new tab) we’ve seen at E3 2019.

If you’ve spent the last 20+ years collecting ’em all in Pokemon and were excited about the prospect of Pokemon Home (opens in new tab) allowing you to transfer your entire collection to the first mainline Pokemon Sword and Shield (opens in new tab) then unfortunately, we’ve got bad news: you can’t. Game Freak says this is due to “balance and development concerns” with the Switch game which didn’t affect Pokemon availability in Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon on Nintendo 3DS. If you’re confused, let us explain further.

In a Pokemon Direct aired shortly before E3 2019 (opens in new tab), Nintendo announced Pokemon Home, a cloud-based storage system for all of your Pokemon which is accessible on iOS, Android, and Nintendo Switch. It’s completely possible to take some of your Pokemon from Ruby & Sapphire (physical) or Red, Blue & Yellow (Virtual Console) all the way through to Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon. From there, players were expecting to use Pokemon Home to take from their Pokemon Bank and transfer them to Pokemon Sword and Shield, but Game Freak has since revealed this won’t be possible. More importantly, it won’t ever be possible again.

The clip below, from the this year’s E3 Nintendo Treehouse, is the moment Pokemon director Junichi Masuda explained it live:

“What this means for Pokemon Sword and Shield is that players will be able to transfer their Pokemon from Pokemon Home, only if they appear in the Galar region Pokedex,” Masuda said via translator. That was the translation shared on the Nintendo stream, but the reality could be much worse.

Over on 4chan (opens in new tab) (we know, but bear with us), one anonymous user more directly translated Masuda’s words from the Nintendo Treehouse stream: “Because of this, from this game forward, our policy will change. The Pokemon that will appear will be specially selected to fit the stage of adventure.”

Take this with a grain of salt of course, but Google Translate and our own limited Japanese skills came up with similar wording, and this translation hasn’t been disputed. What this means for the future of Pokemon is that each subsequent mainline Pokemon game will have a pool of monsters cherry-picked by Game Freak. And the overall number of Pokemon is constantly increasing; we’re currently at 800+ Pokemon in total, but without knowing how many new monsters Sword and Shield will introduce, we could easily be at 1000+ by the time the ninth generation rolls around.

If your favourite Pokemon isn’t chosen for Sword and Shield, well, tough luck. There’s seemingly very little we can do about it. If you don’t get lucky with the next games (Pokemon Catapult and Trebuchet anyone?) either, your Pokemon will simply be stuck in Pokemon Home limbo, unable to progress any further.

It would no-doubt be a huge undertaking to get 800+ unique Pokemon future-proofed for the next few generations, but it seems it may be necessary to keep the Pokemon fan base happy. It was also an… interesting decision to announce the paid-for Pokemon Home service and then reveal that it won’t be that useful for the upcoming games. Fingers crossed Game Freak revisit this policy in the near future and update Pokemon Sword and Shield later down the line.

The Animal Crossing: New Horizons release date (opens in new tab) is a bit later than we’d hoped – March 20, 2020, as announced during the Nintendo E3 2019 (opens in new tab) show – but at least we get to spend the next nine months poring over gameplay footage rather than praying for even the slightest bit of information. One of the biggest new features in New Horizons was further explored in a recent Nintendo Treehouse stream at E3 2019 (opens in new tab): outdoor decoration.

“For the furniture, you can also place them outside in the field,” designer Aya Kyogoku explained via translator. “And not just the furniture but also the tent itself. You’re able to place them on the beach. This is something you couldn’t do in New Leaf, but you’re able to do that [in New Horizons].”

Thanks to Tom Nook, you start New Horizons with basically nothing. Thankfully, you’ll quickly acquire modest shelter in the form of a tent you can place anywhere. Traditional houses are also seen in the game’s teaser trailer, but you’ll probably be spending quite a lot of time in your little tent, so you may as well spruce it up a bit. And while you’re at it, why not tend to, oh I don’t know, the entire island?

Decorating your home’s interior in previous Animal Crossing games was engrossing enough, but New Horizons lets you place and arrange stuff straight-up everywhere. Put benches along the river. Put some lawn chairs down on the beach. Build a community center with gardens and a barbecue. Hell, you can even lay down roads. New Horizons will let you fill out your house, pretty up the world, and build a whole dang village right down to the infrastructure.

“By giving players the freedom to build something there, something they may not have been able to do in previous titles, we were able to give them the opportunity to build everything from scratch,” Kyogoku added.

Here’s everything we know about the upcoming Animal Crossing Nintendo Switch (opens in new tab) release.

Bungie affirms Destiny 2 cross save will allow cross-platform progression, but DLC purchases wont carry over https://rb88betting.com/bungie-affirms-destiny-2-cross-save-will-allow-cross-platform-progression-but-dlc-purchases-wont-carry-over/ https://rb88betting.com/bungie-affirms-destiny-2-cross-save-will-allow-cross-platform-progression-but-dlc-purchases-wont-carry-over/#respond Tue, 11 Jun 2019 00:00:00 +0000 https://rb88betting.com/bungie-affirms-destiny-2-cross-save-will-allow-cross-platform-progression-but-dlc-purchases-wont-carry-over/ Destiny 2 cross save (opens in new tab) was one of the most exciting features announced at the recent Destiny 2 Shadowkeep (opens in new tab) event, and all the wording around it suggested players would be able to access their account and its Guardians on multiple platforms whenever they want. Destiny 2 cross save (opens in new tab) was one of the most exciting features announced at the recent Destiny 2 Shadowkeep (opens in new tab) event, and all the wording around it suggested players would be able to access their account and its Guardians on multiple platforms whenever they want. However, a recent tweet from Google regarding Destiny 2 Google Stadia (opens in new tab) cross save suggested it would only be available as a one-time feature. Here’s the company’s exact wording:

Hi Ed, that’s correct. You’ll need to purchase Destiny 2 on each gaming platform. Also, please note that it’s a one time transfer of your Destiny guardian to Stadia from a different platform.June 11, 2019

It’s dangerously easy to read this as: once you transfer your Destiny 2 account to Google Stadia (opens in new tab), it’s leashed to that platform for good. This clashes with Bungie’s messaging around cross save, so people were rightly confused. Fortunately – and this is just speculation on my part, but probably after an angry phone call from Bungie – Google clarified how cross save will work in a new tweet.

Attention all Guardians:Cross Save on Destiny 2 will be fully supported on Stadia and all other platforms. You will choose one account that will share its progression consistently across all other platforms. Thanks @Bungie for making this happen 🙏🏽June 11, 2019

Better still, as part of Bungie’s big E3 2019 (opens in new tab) interview panel, Destiny 2 general manager Mark Noseworthy outlined exactly what you can and can’t do via cross save.

“We’re still working out the details on a couple things, but with cross save, you’re going to pick the set of Guardians on one platform that you’re gonna promote,” he explained. “These are the ones I put the most time into, these are the ones I care most about, that’s got a star above it. That’s the [set] you can play on all the platforms. Because of New Light, you can go to any of those three platforms and try out cross save for free. But if you wanna play, say, the story of Shadowkeep on that new platform, you’ve gotta buy Shadowkeep there.”

Noseworthy’s explanation makes more sense taken alongside this shot of the work-in-progress cross save menu, which was shown during the Shadowkeep reveal:

There are a few important caveats here. Firstly, you can only save one account’s Guardians as your cross save profile. So if you initially played Destiny 2 on PS4 and later started playing on PC, but you’re still missing some of the Exotics you got on PS4 or something, you won’t be able to transfer just one of your old Guardians. You’ll only be able to bring one Destiny 2 profile to other platforms, so use your most up-to-date one. It sounds like you won’t be able to change your cross save profile once you assign one either – otherwise Bungie would have a logistical nightmare on their hands – so if you’ve kept up with multiple platforms, choose wisely.

Secondly, while you’ll be able to access all destinations and base activities on all platforms thanks to the Destiny 2 free to play (opens in new tab) version New Light, you’ll have to buy DLCs multiple times in order to access their story content and premier activities on multiple platforms. If you’re a PC player but you have friends on PS4 and Xbox One, you can join them in the Crucible for free. But if you want to run the Shadowkeep raid with them, you’ll need to buy the DLC again.

Bungie discussed plenty of other things during its E3 interview panel, including the decision to leave Activision, next-gen possibilities, and improvements coming to future seasons.  (opens in new tab)

As part of its E3 2019 presence Konami has announced that PES 2020 is coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC with a release date of 10 September. There’s a snazzy trailer to accompany the news, which you can watch below.

The first big takeaway is that Lionel Messi is back on the cover, which will be a blow to those anticipating rival game FIFA 20. Fans of EA’s series were hoping to see Barcelona’s Camp Nou – exclusive to Pro Evo for the past three years – restored to FIFA, but on this evidence that won’t be happening. Barca are once again confirmed as a PES partner club.

The second key takeaway is that Pro Evolution has had its name, er, evolved in a nod to the popularity of eSports. The full monicker of this year’s Konami sim is ‘eFootball PES 2020’.

Gameplay changes such as a new finesse dribble and contextual passing can be seen in action by watching the trailer, but it’s not only on the field that PES 2020 is changing. For instance, Master League’s annual restoration continues with the addition of legends such as Diego Maradona and Johan Cruyff as potential managers. You can also create your own likeness for use in the mode, which is said to be fleshed out with a new interactive dialogue system.

While little Leo is on the retail box, a second, digital-only edition of eFootball PES 2020 – nope, still can’t get used to calling it that, but it’ll come with time – will feature Ronaldinho as cover star. No word yet on how that will affect Ultimate Team in FIFA 20, where he’s been one of the most popular Icon choices of recent years.

Also exciting is the revelation that Andres Iniesta has been added as both real-life gameplay consultant and in-game MyClub pre-order bonus. A neat little idea that FIFA could also utilise going forwards. As long as EA doesn’t go with Alan Pardew.

PES 2020 is out on 10 September, and you can check the best PES 2020 formations here!. Prefer your headers and volleys EA-branded? Then check out the FIFA 20 confirmed features (opens in new tab), such as five-a-side Volta mode.

Tango Gameworks has unveiled its latest game at the Bethesda E3 2019 press conference, GhostWire: Tokyo. It’s coming from the studio known for The Evil Within series, although it isn’t going to be your typical survival horror experience. In fact, it might just be one of the most original reveals of E3 2019 (opens in new tab) so far.

While Tango Gameworks might well be known for creating horror games that make you want to sleep with the light on, its latest will certainly ensure that you will never even want to leave the house. Even though this is an action-adventure at heart, it’s still a game in which you must explore Tokyo – its people disappearing, seemingly at random – as a supernatural force descends upon the city. I don’t know about you, but that sounds bloody terrifying to me!

“After strange disappearances hit Tokyo’s population, it’s up to you to uncover the source and purge the city of a strange, new evil. Armed with your own mysterious spectral abilities, you will face down the occult, unravel conspiracy theories and experience urban legends like never before,” reads the official description.

Basically, expect a harrowing crawl through Tokyo in GhostWire: Tokyo, all while attempting to avoid benevolent spirits, potentially getting help from a handful of friendly ghosts, and generally attempting to avoid skeleton-demons at all costs. My heart can’t take it.

Basically, GhostWire: Tokyo might be something of a genre shift for Tango Gameworks, but it still looks like a typically spooky release. Not that we would expect anything less from the studio founded by Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami. Expect to hear more on GhostWire: Tokyo throughout E3 2019.

FromSoftware used the Xbox E3 2019 (opens in new tab) stage to reveal its latest project, a third-person action-RPG named Elden Ring. It’s already one of the biggest games out of E3 2019 (opens in new tab), and for good reason! Given that Elden Ring is from the studio that gave us Dark Souls (opens in new tab), Bloodborne (opens in new tab) and Sekiro (opens in new tab), you can probably already form a mental picture of what this looks like. This project has a little something special to it though: Game of Thrones writer George R. R. Martin, who collaborated with FromSoftware to write the “overarching mythos” of the world of Elden Ring.

Dark Souls creator Hidetaka Miyazaki detailed what it was like collaborating with Martin in an interview with Xbox Wire (opens in new tab), noting that the pair have had plenty of “free and creative conversations regarding the game” which Martin used as a base to “write the overarching mythos for the game world itself.”

Explaining how the collaboration came to be, Miyazaki said that it started because he is a huge fan of Martin’s work, although it wasn’t necessarily Game of Thrones that pushed him to reach out to the writer. “I loved A Song of Ice and Fire as well as the Tuf Voyaging series, however if I had to pick a favorite I would probably say Fevre Dream,” Miyazaki said. “I personally see Fevre Dream as a masterpiece among vampire fantasy and had even previously recommended it to all new employees.”

Funnily enough, Miyazaki says that he believed Martin would turn down the opportunity to work with him. Boy, are we glad that he didn’t! “Me being such a known fan of Mr. Martin caused our executive business director Eiichi Nakajima to reach out to him with the expectation that we would get turned down.”

“However, we were then given the rare opportunity to talk one-on-one with Mr. Martin which was an incredibly fun and stimulating experience. It was then that I strongly felt that I wanted to work with Mr. Martin,” Miyazaki said, adding, “I am still unable to put into words how grateful I am to Mr. Martin for agreeing to our offer.”

Check out the first Elden Ring E3 2019 trailer (opens in new tab) and confirmed gameplay details right here

Martin first began working with Miyazaki to establish the themes and ideas of the game before helping to flesh out the world and mythos that envelops it. “This mythos proved to be full of interesting characters and drama along with a plethora of mystical and mysterious elements as well. It was a wonderful source of stimulus for me and the development staff,” he said. “Elden Ring’s world was constructed using this mythos and stimulus as a base. Even I myself find it hard to contain my excitement from time to time. We hope that everyone else is looking forward to the world we have created.”

In the interview with Xbox Wire, Miyazaki also confirmed that Elden Ring has been in development since Dark Souls 3’s final piece of DLC was released. He said Elden Ring will be more RPG-focused than Sekiro – which was more action heavy – and described it as a dark fantasy action-RPG “full of things that we weren’t able to do in the Dark Souls series”.

Basically, we should expect something pretty ridiculous here from Miyazaki and Martin. FromSoftware is doing what it does best, creating a challenging RPG with punishing and expressive combat systems at the heart of it. What will undoubtedly set Elden Ring apart, of course, is that this game will have some absolutely incredible world building from the modern master himself. Bring it on, I say!
