]]>Nonetheless, these are the only methods we know of. There isn’t even a way to buy Adventure Journals with micropayments in the shop, which will no doubt come as a surprise to anybody who’s played the game. It’s possible we’ll see new ways to collect them in future updates, or that there are systems to getting Adventure Journals that haven’t been widely discovered yet, but for now your best bet is to simply become the most powerful warrior possible and collect the Journals the game gives you along the way. Start by boosting your Diablo Immortal combat rating, or playing the Diablo Immortal Shadow Lottery to join one of the game’s factions.

Adventure Journals themselves can’t be used for anything in Diablo Immortal, but can be traded with a character called Taite the Adventure Seeker, found at the location marked on the map above in South Westmarch, just to be that little extra bit confusing.
When you talk to Taite, you can effectively trade in one Adventure Journal for the chance to start an Elite Quest. Elite Quests are long, multi-stage quests, a thread of challenges that’ll take you to different locations, fighting different enemies, but ultimately bring you to generally better rewards than whatever you would’ve gotten fighting in regular quests for the same amount of time. Considering the value of Adventure Journals, you’d definitely hope as much.

]]>Of course, if you’re not happy the fact that your combat rating rating is too low, there’s plenty you can do about that. Gems, gear, raids and the Helliquary can all be used to raise your Diablo Immortal combat rating and make you eligible for higher level raids (as well as just getting more powerful overall). We’ll go into more detail just below on how to improve it.

Here are the best Diablo Immortal classes

If you want to make the best demon slayer possible, check out the best Diablo Immortal classes for an idea on what to pick when you play.
Interestingly, your character’s level in Diablo Immortal seems to have no immediate bearing on your combat rating. We experimentally levelled up multiple times without changing any other details about our character, and their combat rating didn’t change. So either it doesn’t affect it, or if it does, it’s so slow and minimal as to be basically irrelevant. Of course, levelling up does allow you to conquer bigger foes and get better loot, which does improve your combat rating, so the link between the two is more indirect.
There are also certain raids and missions that come with a minimum combat rating requirement, so players will need to power up before they can participate. This is the big reason to improve your combat rating – it’ll open up more of the late-game experience for players.

To increase your combat rating, players have to engage with all the stats and mechanics mentioned above. Here are the precise ways you can improve your Diablo Immortal combat rating for each factor:

Diablo Immortal Shadow Lottery and Factions

Want to join the Shadows or Immortals factions? Find out about the Diablo Immortal Shadow Lottery here!
Servers do not overlap in any way at time of writing, self-contained realms that are all modelled on the same template and have the same features, but players’ impacts are strictly limited to whatever server they’re in. There’s no crossplay between them, which can be frustrating – it means that one of you will have to transfer to the other’s server, and restart your progress as indicated above.
The best thing you can do is pick a server from the very beginning, before you’ve even chosen from the first Diablo Immortal classes, that has a good latency and connection relative to you, and relay that information to all your friends so you can all base yourselves in the same server. That way, the only two reasons to transfer servers – coop play and connection issues – ideally shouldn’t be a problem.

]]>In a tweet, Diablo community lead Adam Fletcher advised squads of demon hunters to coordinate and choose which server to join before starting the game. Once you’ve picked your server, you’ll only be able to play with other people on the same server, and you won’t be able to bring your character over to another server either, so your best Diablo Immortal classes will be stuck wherever they’re born for now.
“Coordinate with friends on where you want to play!” Fletcher said. “There isn’t cross server play with Immortal as each server has their own Immortals / Shadows / Adventurer groups.” Fletcher added that while this will be the case when Diablo Immortal launches on Wednesday, June 2, “maybe that changes in the future.”

It’s worth noting that this only applies to Diablo Immortal’s main campaign. Battlegrounds, the game’s dedicated PvP mode, will allow you to play with friends on different servers.
Los Angeles, New York, Santos, London, Paris, Seoul, and Sydney will all be getting dedicated servers – you can see the complete server list in the FAQ section of this page if you want to plan ahead.
If you want to be ready to pillage your way through hell as soon as possible, Diablo Immortal pre-loading is live on PC right now. Mobile players, on the other hand, will need to wait for the exact release time to download the game, but Blizzard has indicated that it might show up on the app store a few hours earlier than anticipated.
