]]>There are a few distinct options for the best Diablo 2 class depending on what you’re looking for. All the classes are good when you know what you’re doing and how to build them out, but there are four choices widely considered to be the best to get a quick start: Barbarian, Sorceress, Necromancer and Druid. These all cover different core abilities or characteristics, so pick the one that appeals to you the most.

The Diablo 2 Barbarian is obviously the best option if you just want to hit things as hard as possible. He can dual wield weapons and use Warcries to buff himself and allies, or de-buff enemies. It’s a class that works well min-maxing, especially when you focus on specific weapons via his Combat Masteries, and dial into high DPS or tank branches later down the line. The downsides are that the need for specialization can make him a little less flexible, and at higher levels you’ll need high level gear to really make him shine.

The sorceress class in Diablo 2 is your best option for a good damage-at-range character if you don’t want to get too close. She has Fire, Lightning and Cold elemental branches with Fire and Lightning being the best for damage. Cold on the other hand is best for defensive play, slowing and generally interfering with enemies. She also has shield and teleportation options, and good cooldowns to keep her in the action.

Necromancers in Diablo 2 use summons to attack from a distance, and can cast Curses to weaken enemies. They can also use poison to pick away at enemies’ health and bone spells to protect themselves or restrain opponents. The only downside is that it can be effectively a fairly passive character to play as all the summoned creatures and magic do all the work for you.

The Diablo 2 Druid class is a good one if you want a jack-of-all-trades as they can take a beating like the Barbarian, put out damage like a Sorceress, and summon companions like a Necromancer. Magically they can use fire and wind spells, transform into animals (like a bear) to fight, and summon all sorts of plants and creatures to fight for them.
Whatever character you pick in Diablo 2, it’s important to spend your points wisely as you earn them. There’s no point putting all your magic character’s stats into strength, obviously. But what do the main options of Strength, Dexterity, Vitality and Energy do?

]]>The Diablo 2: Resurrected open beta will be split across two periods, with the first exclusively available to players who have pre-ordered the game. Players will be able to try out all but two of the classes which will be available at launch as they make their way through the earlier acts of the game. While the test marks an opportunity for players to try out the fan-pleasing remake of a beloved piece of Blizzard history, it also arrives in the midst of the Activision Blizzard lawsuit which alleges a long-running pattern of hostile conditions for women at the studio.
Here are all the key details Blizzard has announced about the Diablo 2: Resurrected open beta so far.
If you’ve pre-ordered Diablo 2: Resurrected, you’ll be able to play starting on Friday, August 13 at 10 am PDT / 1 pm EDT / 6 pm BST, and you can keep playing until the same time on August 17. The open beta proper will begin on August 20 at 10 am PDT / 1 pm EDT / 6 pm BST, and end at the same time on August 23.
The Diablo 2: Resurrected beta will run on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X and S – which is every platform currently announced for the game, with the notable exception of Nintendo Switch. Blizzard says Switch players will still be able to get the Heritage of Arreat transmog for Diablo 3 as a pre-order bonus.
Blizzard says it wants to focus on the Amazon, Barbarian, Druid, Paladin, and Sorceress for this test; that leaves off the Assassin and Necromancer, which will be available in the full version of the game at launch.
The full version of Diablo 2: Resurrected will cover the contents of both the original game and its Lord of Destruction expansion. The beta will be limited to the first two acts of the vanilla game which, to be clear, is still a lot to play.

]]>“Yes! Keep your old save files,” Diablo 2 Resurrected producer Matthew Cederquist told IGN Middle East (opens in new tab) in an interview. “Back when we were working on [the remaster], we wondered if the old save files would work, so we kind of shoved it in, and it worked! So yes, your local singleplayer save files will carry over.”
It turns out that after you’ve imported your original save to Diablo 2 Resurrected, you’ll be able to pick up exactly where you left off, with remade visuals and sound effects. Not only that, but there’s a toggle to play between the remake and legacy editions of Diablo 2 within the new Resurrected edition.
There might not be a specific release date for Diablo 2 Resurrected, but we know that there’s an upcoming alpha for the game is “coming soon.” In fact, you can already sign up for the alpha test, and once the final game launches, Blizzard has revealed that you’ll be able to take advantage of cross-play for the “consoles that support it.” Elsewhere, Diablo 2 Resurrected will take advantage of the PS5 DualSense controller features, including haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and more.
When Diablo 2 Resurrected eventually arrives, it’ll be launching on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Nintendo Switch. Over 20 years after the game originally launched in 2000, Diablo 2 is making a big comeback with two-player co-op, PvP duelling, brand new 3D models, completely remade cinematics, and much more.
