]]>Destiny 2 Solar 3.0 builds

If you’re looking for new Destiny 2 Solar 3.0 builds for PvE, check out our guide
To get more Iron Banner daily challenges, you’ll automatically receive a new one at the daily reset for the first four days of Iron Banner – that’s Tuesday to Friday. Confusingly, they are marked as ‘Weekly’ challenges and don’t expire until the end of the Iron Banner event, so you can actually wait until the daily reset on Friday and you’ll have all four challenges ready to complete.
For the current Iron Banner event, you must complete an increasing number of Iron Banner matches, and progress carries over from each challenge, so you’ll need to complete 18 matches in total:
It’s also important to note that these Iron Banner daily challenges, their rewards, and the Forging Iron quest are character-based, not account-based. That means completing a challenge on one character will not complete it on your other characters, so you’ll have to do it again, but you’ll still get Pinnacle rewards and more for doing so. This is the same set of challenges as the previous Iron Banner event, but hopefully the objectives will change between future events.

Once you’ve completed a daily challenge, which you will need to do as part of the new Forging Iron introduction quest for Iron Banner, you’ll get your rewards: a Pinnacle Iron Banner loot drop, which will help you reach this season’s power cap of 1570, and a 100% boost to your Iron Banner Rank gains. Each challenge awards this boost and there will be four daily challenges per character, per Iron Banner event, so completing them all will massively increase your rank gains. Be sure to check in with Saladin at the Tower to collect rewards and Iron Banner Engrams as you rank up too – you can get the reprised Wizened Rebuke Fusion Rifle and Hero’s Burden Submachine Gun.

Increase your Iron Banner Rank gains further by using up to 5 pieces of Iron Banner gear – that’s any Iron Banner weapon or piece of armor – and using any Iron Banner emblem. The armor can also be the item itself or as an ornament. If you wear a piece of Iron Banner armor with a different Iron Banner ornament on top, this counts as two pieces of gear, so you won’t need to wear a full set of armor to get the maximum rank boost.
While Iron Banner returns in Season of the Haunted, the seasonal quest aboard the Derelict Leviathan ship has come to an end. Of course, you can still explore in patrols and participate in Nightmare Containment, but you should definitely keep an eye out for Destiny 2 Calus Bobbleheads, or plunder chests with Destiny 2 Opulent Keys.

]]>The post Destiny 2 players are struggling with inflation even after a massive Legendary Shard dupe appeared first on Game News.
]]>This sentiment has been simmering in the Destiny community for several seasons, and a recent Reddit post (opens in new tab) from self-described “working class Guardian” Dinoben43 has become a sort of water cooler discussion for players to air their complaints.
Dinoben’s argument is simple: “The legendary shard inflation is out of control. The price to focus has consistently increased but the rate of acquisition has not kept up.” Anecdotally, I’ve heard similar sentiments from multiple Destiny clanmates, especially this season, and it’s clear from the replies to this Reddit post, as well as its popularity, that it’s not an uncommon feeling.
Legendary Shards have become increasingly essential to Destiny 2’s loot system, with new traits, Origin perks, as well as craftable weapon patterns driving the desire to roll multiple versions of the latest guns. Focusing Legendary engrams has given players a path to more definitive drops, but it’s also raised the price of each gun considerably in some cases.
For reference, you can focus this season’s guns at the HELM for 50 shards a pop, which really isn’t half bad, especially since the seasonal activity spits them out pretty regularly. Meanwhile, focusing a Trials of Osiris weapons will run you 100, and a single roll of the coveted Adept versions of Trials weapons will cost you an eye-watering 250 shards. With the seasonal boost unlocked, you get four Legendary Shards each time you dismantle a piece of gear, and that’s still the primary way to get them, so you can see how quickly these expenses add up.
If players are getting Legendary Shards any other way, it’s usually through an exploit like the recently patched shard dupe which allowed some players to rack up tens or even hundreds of thousands of the things in just hours. Interestingly, the fallout from that dupe seems to have driven some of this inflation talk as players watch their once-towering shard reserves dwindle after just a weekend of focusing. Even with functionally infinite shards, they go by quick.
There’s no great way to specifically farm Legendary Shards; you just kind of earn them passively while playing the game. There’s a logical argument to be made that unlocking guns faster should require playing the game more, but there’s also no denying that the math behind dismantling gear and focusing an engram can be depressing. It’s unclear if Bungie will ever “raise the minimum Legendary Shard wage,” as Dinoben43 puts it, but it’s safe to say other working class Guardians would appreciate it.
We recently spoke to Bungie about the Season of the Haunted, and making Destiny 2 harder, scarier, and building more end-game.

]]>Bungie posted an updated statement (opens in new tab) on its support for “essential healthcare rights” shortly after the court’s decision was announced, following up on a pro-choice commitment which it shared following the previously leaked court opinion which predicted today’s decision.
“The decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade cuts off millions of Americans from that access and leaves open the possibility of even further restrictions on life-saving healthcare for all of us,” Bungie says.
“As we continue to expand our digital-first workplace to more states, we will now be implementing a travel reimbursement program for any employee to use when they or a dependent cannot get access to the healthcare they need where they live,” addressing the studio’s remote work plan, which was recently expanded to more states.
“We remain undeterred in our commitment to stand up for reproductive choice and liberty,” the statement concludes, pointing readers to an updated list of healthcare and abortion non-profits and charities.
Bungie’s material support for employees and their families is a standout in the reactions of game developers to the court’s decision, but many studios have made their stance clear.

Multiple companies both in and out of games, including Netflix, Sony, Warner Bros, and Disney, have also reportedly pledged (opens in new tab) to cover healthcare-related travel expenses in a similar fashion.
As Bungie becomes part of Sony’s stable of studios, the Destiny 2 dev says “there will never be a ‘muzzle’ big enough to stop us” from speaking out on human rights.

]]>The post How to get Destiny 2 Adept mods and what they do appeared first on Game News.
]]>
Adept mods are powerful weapon mods with varying effects, but they’re generally a bit like masterworks, offering a significant boost to a particular weapon stat. Other Adept mods act as a superior replacement to existing mods, making them very desirable. Most Adept mods can also be used on all weapons, but there are a few that are exclusive to specific weapon types.
The caveat to these mods is that they can only be equipped on Adept Legendary weapons which are available from just a few sources. If you want to know about a particular mod, pick from the list below to jump to the relevant section:

You can get Adept mods in Destiny 2 by:
Trials of Osiris, Grandmaster Nightfalls, and Master Vault of Glass encounters also give you the chance of getting Adept Legendary weapons, which are slightly improved versions of Legendary weapons and are denoted by the “(Adept)” in their names – Vault of Glass Raid weapons which have “(Timelost)” instead.

Note that any of the following Adept mods can drop from these activities, except for Adept Icarus Grip, which can only drop from the Lighthouse Flawless chest in Trials of Osiris. You can see which Adept mods you have and which ones you’re missing by looking at your Collections tab, opening the Mods section, and then navigating to the weapon mod table. To equip an Adept mod, inspect an Adept weapon and choose an Adept mod from the list that appears when you hover the cursor over the weapon mod slot.

]]>The post How to beat the Destiny 2 Defenses Down Exhibition challenge appeared first on Game News.
]]>Raid challenges rotate each week, and there’s one for all four of the main Vow of the Disciple encounters. Check out our guides for the others if you need them help:

For this challenge, no player in the Raid team can kill more than one Taken Knight using the laser relic. While the Exhibition encounter normally involves swapping three relics a lot, this challenge requires you to swap the laser relic a lot more than usual to ensure everyone gets a chance to use it.
You’ll find a total of seven Taken Knights, in this encounter – one in the first room and two in the other three – but only six players. Therefore, your team must miss one of these Knights and ensure that each player kills only one Knight. We recommend that you skip the second Knight in the second room. Alternatively, you can also kill only one Knight per room, meaning only four players need to use the laser, but this strategy will add far more time pressure to the encounter since the Knights extend the Terminal Resonance timer when killed.
If a player kills more than one Knight, your team will fail the challenge and you’ll have to wipe to start the Exhibition encounter all over to try again. Sometimes the Knights can also be a bit buggy and wander off a cliff, particularly in the final room. While this doesn’t appear to cause the challenge to immediately fail, it will mean you won’t be able to get the timer extension.

The Defenses Down challenge can be quite complicated, forcing you to swap relics more often than usual and skipping one of the Taken Knights, however, you’re not actually doing anything differently to complete the encounter. The most important thing is that everyone in the Raid team must be totally clear on what relics they are carrying and in which rooms to avoid unnecessary deaths and wasting time. Here’s a basic rundown of player roles you can use to complete the Defenses Down challenge if you already know how to complete Exhibition normally:
Player 1:
Player 2:
Player 3:
Player 4:
Player 5:
Player 6:
If you need a more detailed breakdown of how to tackle each room, we’ve got that below.

Before getting started, let’s clarify a few names for the relics and their functions. The laser (acorn, nut, Leviathan crystal) is used to kill the Taken Knights, the shield (Vault of Glass/Templar relic) removes the Pervading Darkness debuff from players with its LT/L2 ability, and the blight (Eye of Riven, Taken relic) destroys shielding blights with its LB/L1 ability. After dropping a relic, you will be unable to pick up another one for 30 seconds.
Here’s a complete walkthrough of what you need to do in each room of the Exhibition encounter to complete the challenge:
Room 1:
Room 2:

Room 3:
Room 4:

Assuming everyone sticks to their roles, communicates clearly, and nothing else goes wrong, the Defenses Down challenge should be quite an easy one. The chaos of the Exhibition encounter means a lot can go wrong, but if you do successfully complete it and the challenge, you’ll get an extra chest of Vow of the Disciple loot for your efforts.

]]>The post How to complete Destiny 2 Preservation mission and puzzle appeared first on Game News.
]]>UPDATE: The Preservation/Raid puzzle appears to be either bugged or working as intended as of hotfix 4.0.0.4 since it doesn’t look like it can be completed solo anymore. Based on some player reports, it seems like a fireteam of at least four is required to complete the puzzle as quickly as possible, which means you’ll have to solve it in the Vow of the Disciple Raid to get a six-player fireteam. This guide will be updated when we have more information about how exactly it works!

The Destiny 2 Preservation is only accessible if you have a special mission from the Evidence Board at the Mars Enclave. Head there and grab the ‘Report: Pyramid-Inspect’ mission, which will task you with completing the Preservation mission. Also, the recommended Power level for this mission is 1540.
Now, open the Destinations page, select Savathun’s Throne World, and then navigate up towards the Vow of the Disciple Raid node. You’ll notice the Preservation mission node just below. Select that and then you’ll load into the mission. This mission takes place in the same areas as the new Raid, so it serves as a great intro for players to understand some of the very basic mechanics and get acquainted with the numerous symbols that appear all over the Raid’s encounters.

The first thing to do when you load into the Destiny 2 Preservation mission is to destroy the Projection of Savathun that blocks the gate. Once the projection is dead and the gate is open, drive on through the swamp into an area called Disciple’s Bog on your Sparrow. You’ll eventually find a large, hovering, black slab with a spiraling, drill-like mechanism on it – we’ll refer to this as the Payload.
When you first reach the Payload, it won’t be able to move and you’ll spot a message in your text feed saying, “Drown in the deep…”. This will cause Scorn to spawn in, including a large Abomination called the Knowledge Bearer.

Note that stepping away from the Payload whenever there is a Scorn Knowledge Bearer around will cause you to get a stacking debuff called ‘Pervading Darkness’. Each stack limits your vision further, but it’s instant death when you reach 10 stacks. You can remove Pervading Darkness by standing inside the orange ring that surrounds the Payload. Pervading Darkness also stops building up whenever a Knowledge Bearer Abomination is killed and the “Rise from the deep…” message appears, telling you it’s safe to roam
Eliminate the Scorn enemies and the Knowledge Bearer to also cause nine Knowledge Spikes to appear around your current area – these are small black spikes with a glowing, orange aura, so they’re generally quite easy to spot. You need to pick all of them up just by running through them and then take them to the Payload to automatically deposit them. Unfortunately, you can only carry up to three at once, so you’ll need to do a lot of running around.

Once the Payload has received all nine spikes, it’ll automatically start moving and you just need to ride it or follow it on your Sparrow to the next stopping point where you’ll have to kill another Knowledge Bearer and deposit more spikes. In total, you’ll have to defeat six Knowledge Bearers and collect 54 Knowledge Spikes – quite tedious for solo players. At the end, the Payload will go inside a small room within the Pyramid entrance and unlock the main entrance door for you.

Now that you’re inside the Pyramid, you need to reach the Destiny 2 Preservation mission puzzle. Keep running through the Pyramid until you reach a large room that is partially flooded with swamp water. You need to head to the back-right corner where you’ll find a deep pit lit up by a low ceiling light. Jump down, then keep following the main path until you reach a room full of vertical tablets with symbols on them.
This is the puzzle room and you’ll be interacting with these symbols to solve the puzzle. As you approach each symbol, you can see the name of it under your motion tracker in the top-left corner of your screen. Remember, you can get two other players to help you out with puzzle in the Preservation mission – in fact you might have to, as the puzzle is either bugged or fixed after a recent hotfix. This puzzle can also be solved in the Vow of the Disciple Raid where you’ll have up to five other players ready to help.
To solve the puzzle, you need to first find the code. On the wall to the right of the entrance to the puzzle room, you’ll notice that there are some tall windows, all of which are blocked off by bars except for one. Jump through the clear window to get into a small room with a wall that has four columns of three symbols on it.

Think of each column as a command that you need to follow to complete the puzzle. The top symbol in each column is always the Guardian symbol (black figure with a Ghost above their head) and can be ignored. The middle symbol in each column is also always the same and tells you how you need to interact with the symbols in the main puzzle room – the Enter symbol (grey triangle with a red semi-circle below) means you must melee the symbol, Commune (dark triangle with green lines fanning out above it) means you must follow the ‘Activate’ button prompt in front of a symbol, and Kill (white triangle stabbing a red circle) means you must shoot the symbol.

Finally, the bottom symbol in each column is always random and indicates which symbol you need to interact with in the main puzzle room. You’ll know you’ve successfully interacted with a symbol when it makes a noise and briefly gets covered by black smoke after you’ve done what the code told you to.
Here’s an example of what each column, from left to right, might look like and what it all means. Remember that only the final symbol in each column changes and they’re random:

If you correctly followed the commands of each column, you’ll get a lore entry, and all the symbol tablets will shut off. However, sometimes nothing happens, but you can fix this by entering the first command again. If you mess up the code, you can return to the secret room through the window and reset the puzzle to start over.

To repeat the puzzle to help you get the Imperious Sun Ghost Shell, you’ll need to restart the Destiny 2 Preservation mission each time as the puzzle can only be completed once per run. To get the Ghost Shell, you should also collect five secret lore entries found at the end of this mission, and we’ve got information on those below.

After leaving the puzzle room and walking through some corridors, you’ll arrive in a massive area with lots of doors with symbols above them and some Scorn enemies dotted around. To clear this section, all you need to do is defeat the Scorn but prioritize the Chieftain inside the room with the Gift symbol (red hands and a black triangle) above its door and the Abomination in the room with the Stop symbol (a red square) above its door.

Head left as you leave the Stop room, and you’ll spot the Knowledge (multi-colored brain) and Drink symbols (white figure having water poured into their bowl-head) on the wall with a doorway between them. Head through and you’ll emerge into a room with two large statues of horses with many, many butts. At the far end of this room, there are three large Fanatic’s Chosen Scorn enemies that need to be defeated.
Once they’re dead, the Destiny 2 Preservation mission will end, but you’ll be left with a 25-minute timer to freely explore Acquisition for secrets. There are five lore entries that you can pick up that will contribute to the ‘“Vow of the Disciple” Lore Book Unlocks’ Triumph, which will help you get the Imperious Sun Exotic Ghost Shell. Here’s where you can find each of the secret lore entries at the end of the mission:

After you’ve got these five secret lore entries, you’ll need to get five more by completing the earlier symbol puzzle five times to complete the triumph and get the Ghost Shell.

]]>The post Lance Reddick on the future of Destiny 2s Zavala: “I actually asked them if they were killing me off” appeared first on Game News.
]]>In an interview with Polygon (opens in new tab), Reddick explained that “in one of my more recent recording sessions, I actually asked them if they were killing me off.” Reddick says Bungie did give him a straight answer, but he didn’t share what he heard for obvious spoiler reasons.
It’s unclear how “recent” this recording session was or what content it was for, but Bungie has definitely set up Destiny 2’s narrative for a major death as we head into The Witch Queen expansion beginning February 22. Ikora has been leading investigations into Savathun, Crow is torn between alliances, and Zavala already had a brush with death earlier in Year 4 during the climactic encounter of the Season of the Chosen. With Caiatl, the Cabal leader whose traitorous (and promptly executed) underlings attempted to assassinate Zavala, returning for the upcoming Season of the Risen, several major characters will be on stage once again, which could be the perfect time to spring a dramatic loss.
Game director Joe Blackburn touched on the arc of the Vanguard leader as well as how the love for Reddick, a Warlock main known to read painfully accurate Destiny 2 memes in character and record new dialogue from his closet, could shape Zavala’s role going forward.
“We love having Lance out there not just as a voice actor for us, but also as such a prominent Guardian,” Blackburn told Polygon. “We obviously have plans for Zavala – Zavala could go a lot of different ways – but Lance is a pretty flexible actor in his range. So that leaves the door pretty wide open for us with Zavala.”
As for Reddick’s position in Destiny 2, both in-game and among the community, he reckons he’s “just a big fan who also happens to voice one of the characters.” Hilariously enough, he also admits that, like many players, he often loses track of the plot and ends up focusing on “powering up and getting cool weapons and grinding through playlists.”
Last year, we spoke to Bungie about the years of narrative build-up that went into The Witch Queen and how the studio turned Savathun into the game’s best villain yet.

]]>The post Destiny 2 and future Bungie games will stay cross-platform after Sony purchase appeared first on Game News.
]]>In Sony’s announcement of the deal to buy Bungie, it makes clear that the Destiny studio will continue as an independent developer making multiplatform games. And in an interview with Gamesindustry.biz (opens in new tab), Sony CEO Jim Ryan went into further detail, specifically confirming that Destiny 2 and future Bungie games will remain multiplatform.
“The first thing to say unequivocally is that Bungie will stay an independent, multiplatform studio and publisher,” Ryan said. “Pete [Parsons, Bungie CEO] and I have spoken about many things over recent months, and this was one of the first, and actually easiest and most straightforward, conclusions we reached together.
“Everybody wants the extremely large Destiny 2 community, whatever platform they’re on, to be able to continue to enjoy their Destiny 2 experiences. And that approach will apply to future Bungie releases. That is unequivocal.”
Ryan went on to say that Sony’s Bungie deal “isn’t about pulling things into the PlayStation world,” seemingly drawing a philosophical distinction between this purchase and Microsoft’s recent high-profile acquisitions, which the company has positioned in part as a means of expanding its Game Pass offerings. It’s unclear if the game philosophy will shape future Sony acquisitions, of which Ryan has suggested there will be plenty.
“We should absolutely expect more,” Ryan said. “We are by no means done. With PlayStation, we have a long way to go. I will personally be spending a lot of my time with Pete and the team at Bungie, helping make sure that everything beds down right and that autonomy means autonomy. But elsewhere in the organization, we have many more moves to make.”
PlayStation exclusive or not, here are all the new games of 2022 we can’t wait to play.
