Keri Russell stars as the beleaguered matriarch of a family plunged into ruin when dad loses his job. As the bills pile up, efficient if familiar poltergeist activity mounts.

The first trailer has arrived online for alien horror flick Dark Skies , in which Keri Russell and Josh Hamilton find their quiet suburban home subject to some very strange goings on.
When their son complains of nightmares, and things start getting rearranged around the house, the couple are perturbed, but not unduly panic-stricken. However, things begin to escalate pretty quickly.
It soon emerges that the house has been targeted by a race of alien beings, whose MO involves possessing the bodies of any humans they come across. Sure enough, it isn’t long before the family is acting very oddly indeed.

The film is billed as being from the producers of Paranormal Activity and Insidious , and that signature brand of domestic terror is clearly in evidence again here. Demons, monsters, aliens… they all produce the same effect in the small hours of the night.
Directed by Scott Charles Stewart and co-starring J.K. Simmons, Dark Skies opens in the US on 22 February 2013, with a UK date to be confirmed.
