]]>The landmark achievement, validated onsite by a Guinness World Records representative, was organized by the US-based Buyseasons costume company and involved 425 people dressed up as iconic video game mascots. The crowd consisted of Angry Birds, Pac-Men (and women), Super Mario Brothers, Street Fighters, Gods of War, Mortal Kombatants, and – if we’re seeing this right – one dude in a Wario costume who decided to check his phone when they took the picture (top right).

The previous record was set by 376 cosplayers during the MCM Expo in London in 2009. A similar group achievement was also set this May when 783 participants gathered to play PS3’s Get Fit with at a public school in Ontario, Canada; setting the record for the ‘Most People Exercising to a Video Game’.More gaming achievement can be browsed online at Guinness website.
