The post Sex Education season 4: Everything we know about the Netflix shows return appeared first on Game News.
]]>We’ve done our best to predict when the new episodes might arrive on Netflix, for starters, as well as when a trailer for the new season might drop. We’re also keeping you up to date with all the confirmed casting information so far, and we’ve given you a recap of season 3 and theorized about what could be on the cards for the students of Moordale Secondary in the series’ fourth outing. So, for all that and more, keep scrolling to discover everything we know so far about Sex Education season 4.

Sex Education was renewed for season 4 in September 2021 and filming is set to begin sometime in summer 2022. Season 3 started filming in September 2020 and was released a year later, so it seems likely that season 4 will premiere next summer. Keep your eyes peeled for further updates in that department.

Sex Education season 3 was released in September 2021 and Netflix released the first full-length trailer two weeks before it hit the streamer. If season 4 follows the same time frame, we’ve got quite a while to wait before we get our first taste of the next installment of the show.

No casting information for Sex Education season 4 has been confirmed yet, but we know that Simone Ashley is definitely not returning as Olivia – Ashley joined the cast of Bridgerton for the show’s second season as leading lady Kate Sharma, and she has since confirmed that she’s swapped modern-day high school for Regency high society once and for all.
Patricia Allison, who plays Ola, has also confirmed she “won’t be joining the team” for the new season, while Tanya Reynolds, who plays Ola’s love interest Lily, is also exiting the show. “I’m not [returning], actually, which is sad, very sad,” Reynolds told Radio Times (opens in new tab). “It’s just the natural progression of these shows – when you have such big ensemble casts and so many characters, I think you have to let a few older characters go to make way for newer ones, which is absolutely the right thing, the way it should happen.”
Ashley isn’t the only Sex Education cast member with a lot on her plate – Ncuti Gatwa, who plays Otis’ best friend Eric, was recently cast as the Doctor in Doctor Who, while Emma Mackey, who plays Maeve, has roles in upcoming movies including Greta Gerwig’s Barbie. While nothing has been said about whether or not Gatwa or Mackey are returning, it’s possible that they may have smaller roles in the next season to account for their busier schedules.
As for who else we predict might be returning, we’re pretty sure we haven’t seen the last of the Milburns, AKA Otis, played by Asa Butterfield, and his sex therapist mother Jean, played by Gillian Anderson. There are also series regulars and Otis’ fellow students Connor Swindells (Adam), Aimee Lou Wood (Aimee), Kedar Williams-Stirling (Jackson), and Mimi Keene (Ruby).

Warning: Sex Education season 3 spoilers ahead.
Sex Education season 3 concluded another chapter in Otis and Maeve’s will-they-won’t-they relationship – the season finale ends with the pair finally getting together before promptly parting ways, as Maeve heads off to the US for a study program over the summer. Season 4, then, will explore whether distance has made either of their hearts grow fonder.
Elsewhere in the season 3 finale, Eric and Adam break up, as Eric is struggling to be in a relationship with someone who isn’t comfortable with who they are. Plus, Jean gives birth and recovers from surgery after suffering a hemorrhage during labor. She also receives the results of the baby’s paternity test, so it’s likely that we’ll see the fall-out of that result in season 4.
And, in a move that will probably be the biggest plot point of the new season, the students of Moordale Secondary find out that their school is being sold to developers and are told that they need to find alternative arrangements to finish their education. According to The Hollywood Reporter (opens in new tab), the new season “will feature a mix of old and new faces as Sex Education moves on from the shuttered Moordale High in favor of a new school” and we can expect a “creative reset”.

]]>Need a primer before then? Below, we run the rule over the next installment to tide you over until next year. We’ve also taken a look at the source material to speculate about what might come next. And that’s just the start – for all that and more, read on to find out everything we know so far about Jujutsu Kaisen season 2. For more from the medium, you can even check out our curated list of the 15 best anime series you should be watching right now.

As confirmed during an event in Japan (H/T Crunchyroll (opens in new tab)), Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 will release in 2023. It could debut during one of anime’s three major release windows: Winter 2023 (starting January 2023), Spring 2023 (starting April 2023), or Fall 2023 (starting October 2023).
If we had to put money on it, we’d say a Fall 2023 release is most likely. Not only did the original season debut in the Fall window, but animation studio MAPPA has also spent time working on Jujutsu Kaisen 0, Attack on Titan, and the upcoming Chainsaw Man. That’s a busy schedule for any studio – and October 2023 onwards would give them enough time to deliver a second season that matches their absurdly high standards.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s first season ended with the conclusion of the Death Painting Arc, which ran from chapters 55-64 in the manga. If the anime continues to adapt the manga in release order, then next up is the Gojo’s Past Arc, which covers chapters 65-79 in the manga.
That revolves around – you guessed it – Gojo’s past, specifically a mission involving Gojo and Geto escorting a Star Plasma Vessel to Tengen.
If that’s the case, the second season might be a patchwork of flashbacks to Gojo’s past, as well as setting up a major next arc: the Shibuya Incident (chapters 79-136). We’re not heading into spoiler territory here, don’t worry, but the Shibuya Incident Arc all revolves around a plan to seal away Goto, spearheaded by Gojo and his new cursed alliance.
That has more than enough material to last for a 25-episode second season and seems the most likely scenario. The first season’s ending may also indicate that’s the case.
Having defeated the Cursed Wombs Eso and Kechizu, Yuji and Nobara join back up with Megumi. However, Sukuna – using a mouth in Yuji’s hand, because anime – eats the finger and moves him one step closer to regaining his power.
Expect the new season to do with that encroaching evil, as well as that of the third Cursed Womb triplet, Choso, allying himself with series villains Geto and Mahito.
There’s also the small matter of a mole in Jujutsu High, with teacher Utahime very much on the hunt for the duplicitous sorcerer. That will also form a large part of the next season.
In a final season 2 setup, Yuji, Megumi, Nobara (as well as Maki and Panda) are recommended for a promotion to Grade 1 Sorcerers – and Gojo invites them to take part in a new mission…

We’d certainly recommend it, but – due to the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie being a prequel to the main series – it’s not essential.
The movie centers on swordsman Yuta Okkotsu, who will – mild spoilers – play a more prominent role in the Jujutsu Kaisen anime as it wears on. He’s also one of the most popular characters from the manga series, so you should really go and see what all the fuss is about.
There’s also a post-credits scene which sets up future events in the anime. It revolves around Yuta heading back to Japan and into the fold of the main series, though it’s not yet known if he’ll turn up in Jujutsu Kaisen season 2.
In completionist terms, it’s also worth seeking out – it fleshes out the world and the curse-heavy concept of the universe, all while making for a compelling story in its own right. It can likely be skipped if you’re pressed for time, but we really suggest you seek it out.

If you need to catch up on Jujutsu Kaisen before season 2 then all 24 episodes of the first season are currently available to watch on Crunchyroll. Expect to be able to stream Jujutsu Kaisen season 2, Demon Slayer season 3, and other hit anime exclusively on the streaming service too – all thanks to the recent merger with Funimation.

]]>The post Gentleman Jack creator says they “were ready to go again” before HBO canceled the series appeared first on Game News.
]]>Last week, the US channel confirmed it would not be moving forward with the historical drama – which is a co-production between the two broadcasters – following its second season. The announcement prompted the cast to reflect on their involvement in the series on Instagram, while fans took to Twitter to launch a #SaveGentlemanJack hashtag.
“It’s been a bit of a surprise really because it’s been doing really well, certainly in this country,” Wainwright explained to Radio Times (opens in new tab). “We were ready to go again, the BBC certainly [is] up for going again.
“I think if HBO had been up for it, there’d have been no question. It’s been a very successful show in all areas for them – it’s had fantastic reviews, it’s had a very respectable audience and on top of that it’s had an impact on the community of gay women. We have the most extraordinary fanbase, they organise all sorts of events.”
Having premiered in 2019, Gentleman Jack centers on real-life Yorkshire-based landowner Anne Lister (Suranne Jones), retroactively dubbed “the first modern lesbian”, as she strikes up a romance – and eventually navigates a secret marriage – with the wealthy Ann Walker (Sophie Rundle), all while juggling male-dominated business ventures in the early 1800s.
Season 2 focused on Ann’s move into Shibden Hall, and the new wives’ efforts to divide their estates – much to the dismay of Ann’s meddling brother-in-law Captain Sutherland (Derek Riddell). Their relationship is tested elsewhere, too, by money troubles, public scrutiny, and Anne’s entanglement with her ex-lover Mariana Lawton (Lydia Leonard).
“I think [it] wouldn’t want to continue with it without it having the same production values,” Wainwright replied, when asked whether the BBC would ever entertain the idea of producing the show on its own.
“So we would need to find another partner who would stream it globally. You know, I think all those other options are being explored at the minute given that there is a desire to go on with it amongst quite a lot of people – the BBC, Lookout Point, myself, you know.”
Gentleman Jack is available to stream on BBC iPlayer in the UK, and HBO Max in the US. If you’ve already binge-watched, then be sure to check out our roundup of the best TV shows of all time for some viewing inspiration.

]]>The post Bob Odenkirk reflects on heart attack he had while filming next Better Call Saul episode appeared first on Game News.
]]>“Next week is the scene where I have the heart attack,” Odenkirk told The Hollywood Reporter (opens in new tab). “And probably about three-quarters of the scene was shot before I had the heart attack, the day of the heart attack, and then the other quarter scene was after.”
He added that he feels “very good” about his health currently, as he opened up about the scare. “I’m in great shape. I’m gonna go to a workout right now,” Odenkirk said. “I didn’t go back to shoot for five weeks. I had a five-week break to recover. And then when I went back, we limited our shooting to 12-hour days… And so they took care of me and I was able to do it, and hopefully, you can’t tell when I had the heart attack and when I didn’t.”
Odenkirk said that the “strangest” part was that he lost “basically about a week and a half” of memory following his heart attack. As a result, he doesn’t remember filming the episode, entitled ‘Fun and Games’, much at all.
The actor was recently nominated for his fifth Emmy for Better Call Saul, marking his 17th overall nomination at the awards. The final season of the show was also nominated for Outstanding Drama Series, with Odenkirk’s co-star Rhea Seehorn, who plays Kim Wexler, landing a nod as well.
Better Call Saul is airing weekly on AMC and Netflix. To make sure you don’t miss an episode of the series, check out our Better Good Saul release schedule.

]]>The post When does the Resident Evil Netflix series take place on the main timeline? appeared first on Game News.
]]>To help make sense of it all, we’ve provided an overview of the Resident Evil timeline’s main events – including where exactly the new Netflix series fits in.

The Resident Evil Netflix series takes place both in 2022 and 2036. That makes them the latest events chronologically on the Resident Evil timeline.
In 2022, Umbrella is still alive and kicking, with Albert Wesker (who has seemingly returned from the dead) living with his daughters Billie and Jade in New Raccoon City.
14 years later and an adult Jade is surviving in a post-outbreak world. Flesh-eating zombies have overrun much of the population, with various corporations carving out their own regions and city states. It is also heavily implied that the outbreak started in 2022.
These events, as is revealed in the show, all take place decades after the Raccoon City Incident in 1998. There, a zombie outbreak was covered up by Umbrella and the US Government, with the city eventually being nuked to hide the truth of what really happened. If you’re new to the series and keen to see how that played out, be sure to play the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 Remakes.
Showrunner Andrew Dabb has already told us “everything that happened in the games exists in this world,” so here’s how the rest of the series fits alongside the Resident Evil Netflix show.
For the TL;DR crowd: the Resident Evil Netflix series takes place both 24 years and 38 years after the first three games. Wesker arriving in New Raccoon City in 2022 comes 13 years after his supposed death in Resident Evil 5.
If applying ‘games are canon’ as a blanket theory across the entire series, Resident Evil: Village is the closest in date to the Netflix series, technically taking place a year before the events of the new show. What that means for Umbrella’s resurgence both as Blue Umbrella in the latter games and as an evil corporation in the Netflix series is unclear, and there are likely to be some discrepancies if you map out every game in relation to the Netflix series.
To keep things as straightforward as possible, we can be sure that the genesis of the story began in 1998 with the first three games; the Resident Evil Netflix series builds upon it decades later. Phew. We made it.
Resident Evil is now streaming on Netflix. For more from the streamer, be sure to check out the best Netflix shows and the best Netflix movies you should be watching right now.

]]>Season 5 premiered back in 2019, and consists of only three episodes, with notable cast members including Anthony Mackie, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Miley Cyrus, and Andrew Scott. The new episodes will be “even more cinematic in scope” with each installment essentially being treated as an individual film.
Paul, best known for his starring role in Breaking Bad, currently plays Caleb on HBO’s Westworld and recently starred alongside Karen Gillan and Jesse Eisenberg in Riley Stearns’ satirical sci-fi thriller Dual. Beetz plays Van on FX’s Atlanta and can be seen next in David Leitch’s upcoming action flick Bullet Train. Ramirez appeared in blockbuster sequel Top Gun: Maverick and will next star in Netflix’s Look Both Ways alongside Luke Wilson and Riverdale star Lili Reinhart.
Essiedu stars as George in Sky TV’s action drama time loop series The Lazarus Project, Thorton plays Lucy Damon in NBC’s This Is Us, and Vasan can be seen on Channel 4 and Peacock’s “We Are Lady Parts.” Former teen heartthrob Josh Harnett is set to play Nobel Prize-winning nuclear physicist Ernest Lawrence in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer.

What If…? star Jeffrey Wright is also nominated in the same category for the eighth episode of season 1, while Moon Knight actor F. Murray Abraham, who voiced Khonshu in the Disney Plus show, is nominated for that series’ third episode.
Marvel has been clear that Boseman will not be recast in the upcoming Black Panther 2, officially titled Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. That film will see the return of Letitia Wright as Shuri, Danai Gurira as Okoye, Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Daniel Kaluuya as W’Kabi, Angela Bassett as Ramonda, and Martin Freeman as Everett Ross. Dominique Thorne joins the cast as Riri Williams, while Tenoch Huerta is reportedly set to play a mystery role – and he’s poked fun at fans who think pictures of him as Namor have leaked.

]]>The post Vecna actor teases the characters endgame in Stranger Things appeared first on Game News.
]]>In his own warped way, Vecna aims to make the world “1,000 times better” Bower told TVLine (opens in new tab). “His experience has led him to this point of believing — actually, knowing, not necessarily believing — that people present a falsity and this world is just full of liars. He really wants to change that for the greater good.”
Viewers got a taste of Vecna’s grand plans during the closing moments of Stranger Things season 4. There, legions of the Upside Down began invading Hawkins and, despite Vecna’s seeming ‘death’, it appears he’ll be the one leading the charge and aiming to create a new world in his image.
One theory, however, suggests Vecna might have some twisted company in the upcoming season. Max, who was left blind and comatose by Vecna, has seemingly been consumed by the villain. “This is probably the best Stranger Things theory I’ve heard yet,” the theorist said on TikTok (opens in new tab). “When Eleven looks into Max’s mind, it’s blank… nothing… but Max isn’t truly gone.”
They continued, “When [Vecna/One/Henry] killed all the kids at the lab, he literally said, ‘They aren’t gone Eleven, they’re still with me in here’.” The implication being, then, that Max may have suffered a fate worse than death – but could still find a way out of Vecna’s clutches.
Stranger Things season 5 is set to be the show’s last. The Duffer Brothers have also confirmed writing is set to begin in August. While we wait for one final trip to The Upside Down, be sure to check out our spoiler-filled breakdown of the Stranger Things season 4 volume 2 ending.

]]>The post When does Thor Love and Thunder take place on the Marvel timeline? appeared first on Game News.
]]>The film sees the return of Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, now the Mighty Thor, who teams up with Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie, and Taika Waititi’s Korg to go up against Christian Bale’s terrifying Gorr the God Butcher, who, as the name suggests, intends to kill all of the MCU’s gods.
The most recent Marvel releases, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Ms. Marvel, are both set in the same year. So how does Thor: Love and Thunder fit into the chronology? We explain all below… and don’t worry, the following is completely spoiler free, so you can read on even if you haven’t had a chance to catch the movie just yet.
Director Taika Waititi previously indicated that the movie takes place four years after Avengers: Endgame, which places it in 2027 – for context, Doctor Strange 2 and Ms. Marvel both take place in 2025 (remember, MCU time is a bit ahead of our own due to the Blip). That seems a little too far ahead, then, and potentially a simple misstep from the director as the movie itself offers more clues.
For one thing, Thor says exactly how long it’s been since he and Jane last saw each other: eight years, seven months, and six days. We don’t know exactly when the God of Thunder and the astrophysicist parted ways, but the breakup is referenced in Thor: Ragnarok, which is set in 2017/2018.
Eight years on from then puts Love and Thunder at around 2026, which is just a little further on than Multiverse of Madness and Ms. Marvel. So, depending on when Thor and Jane actually called it quits, the movie could be set anytime from 2025 to 2027, though it’s probably safe to pin it between 2025-2026. Narrowing the window down any further is pretty much impossible, because the time of year isn’t very obvious in the movie and there aren’t any references to the events of other recent MCU films.
Things could become clearer once Guardians of the Galaxy 3 arrives, as those characters appear in Love and Thunder. Until then, though, we’ll have to stick with the broader timeframe of somewhere between 2025 and 2026.
