The post First Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 trailer confirms full reveal coming next week appeared first on Game News.
]]>The worldwide Modern Warfare 2 reveal will take place on June 8 at 10am Pacific / 1pm Eastern / 6pm BST. The developers have not yet revealed where the event will be broadcast, but the official Call of Duty YouTube (opens in new tab) and Twitch (opens in new tab) channels are safe bets. The devs previously teased this event date in an earlier artwork reveal.
Today’s trailer shows a group of soldiers preparing for battle in the back of a troop transport, before exiting into a desert battlefield. The group is Task Force 141, the international special ops unit who served as the protagonists of the original Modern Warfare 2. In a blog post (opens in new tab), developer Infinity Ward tells players to “remember the following as Task Force 141 assembles to stop a new threat: The Ultimate Weapon is Team.”
“The ultimate weapon is team” doesn’t make a whole lot of grammatical sense, but it’s in today’s trailer, the video’s YouTube description, and the official tweet (opens in new tab) promoting the release. With that tagline, it seems Modern Warfare 2 will have a big focus on team combat.
The new Modern Warfare 2 was officially announced in April, and while the developers haven’t said much beyond the title, there’s been plenty of unofficial information leaking out since.

]]>In a tweet shared to Call of Duty’s official Twitter account Thursday, the first Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 teaser was revealed, followed by a shot of the game’s logo, which is an M and a W with the lines conjoining the two letters forming a Roman numeral 2. The tweet also said that “The new era of Call of Duty is coming.”
The sequel to 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has long been rumored – and was quietly confirmed alongside Warzone 2 in February – but now we have a flashy official announcement. Activision hasn’t set a public release date just yet, but following series tradition, it’s expected to launch on consoles and PC before the end of 2022.

Infinity Ward, the studio behind 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and the newly announced sequel, responded (opens in new tab) to Activision’s tweet and updated its Twitter bio with a hashtag for the sequel.
The “new era” part of today’s announcement is interesting as it implies a bigger change to the franchise beyond the usual annual installment. It seems appropriate to mention that, just last month, the phrase “Call of Duty 2.0” was spotted in an Activision job listing alongside mentions of “subscription-based content” and “always-on connectivity.”
Bloomberg (opens in new tab) reported in February that Call of Duty would be skipping its annual entry in 2023, although Activision sent us an email soon after characterizing parts of that report as “inaccurate” and promising “an exciting slate of premium and free-to-play Call of Duty experiences for this year, next year and beyond.”
