The comical clip drafts in all of the titular superheroes along with franchise newcomers Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver and the big bad – Ultron.

Each Avenger’s mini-segment introduces them via a series of character title cards before all hell breaks loose as they battle against their new nemesis.

Embracing a breezier tone than earlier trailers, this new spot’s loaded with plenty of quips from Tony Stark and the first chance to hear Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Quicksilver accent.

A boisterous third trailer, it simmers quietly for its opening few seconds until the big bad dishes out a killer one-liner. “People look up to the sky and see hope,” drawls the evil Ultron. “I’ll take that from them first.” Cue a series of dazzling action shots interspersed with brand new footage.

The most notable sequences include: an extended glimpse of Ultron’s underlings scrabbling over debris, Bruce Banner and Black Widow veering dangerously close to smooch territory and a handful of Avenger-specific action scenes.

Some of the coolest moments are when two franchise newbies are under the spotlight; Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) works her mojo on Black Widow while her brother Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) delivers the pain to Cap.

Saving the juiciest for last, we finally see Paul Bettany as Ultron’s twisted creation, Vision, right when he opens his eyes.

A bumper crop of images and information has arrived online from Avengers: Age Of Ultron , courtesy of the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly .

Most exciting is the cover image, which gives us our first look at evil robot, Ultron, who bares a passing resemblance to the future-Sentinels recently spotted in X-Men: Days Of Future Past .

The new issue also goes some way towards explaining the villain’s motivations, with Ultron having been created by Tony Stark as a self-aware robot, designed to relieve him of his Iron Man duties. However, it turns out Ultron has some radical views of his own…

“Ultron sees the big picture,” explains Joss Whedon, “and he goes, ‘Okay, we need radical change, which will be violent and appalling, in order to make everything better’; he’s not just going ‘Muhaha, soon I’ll rule!’ He’s on a mission. He wants to save us.”

Meanwhile there are also new images of Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch as well as all your returning favourites. Avengers: Age Of Ultron will open in the UK on 24 April 2015.

Joss Whedon’s fantastic Shakespeare adaptation Much Ado About Nothing is coming to DVD and Blu-ray soon, and we’ve gotten hold of some exclusive snippets from the director’s commentary.

In the following three clips, Whedon chats about why he wanted to adapt Shakespeare in the first place (it was a dream 10 years in the making, apparently) and why the credits are at the start of the film.

Better still, the Avengers writer-director reveals that one of the scenes was entirely improvised by Alexis Denisof – something that made Whedon nervous, until he saw what brilliance Denisof had come up with.

Joss Whedon has taken time out from promoting his low-budget take on Much Ado About Nothing to give an update on the Marvel day-job, including a couple of tidbits regarding The Avengers 2 as well as James Gunn’s Guardians Of The Galaxy .

“I enter upon Avengers 2 with a different mindset than I did the first one,” explains Whedon. “I feel like I know so well what it is that I want to accomplish, and like Much Ado , I now have a real sense of the troop I’m working with and the strictures and the opportunities.”

Whedon has also been keeping an eye on the other projects currently bubbling away over at Marvel, and has been waxing lyrical about James Gunn’s take on Guardians Of The Galaxy .

“I’ve talked to [ Marvel ] about the story from the beginning, and the different drafts,” explains the director. “One of the questions they asked me was ‘What do you think of James Gunn?’ And I giggled like a school girl because I was like, ‘Oh, this movie is going to work.’”

“My only piece of advice has been: I want to hear more of James. Let’s pull out the formula. Give me more James. Make it weirder. The only way to achieve that Star Wars vibe is not to chase it – is to try to be an original universe and have all the fun and do all the stuff.

“And James is… he’s perfect for that because even I said, ‘A raccoon?’ And James’s thing was, ‘Here’s the deal. It’s about the raccoon. This is why I love it: because of the raccoon and the tree.’ And I’m like, ‘Okay, that’s the guy you need.’”

Guardians Of The Galaxy opens in the UK on 1 August 2014 with The Avengers 2 set to follow on 1 May 2015.

Cobie Smulders has admitted that she’s in talks for Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D. TV show, in a move that’d lend some continuity credibility to the small-screen spin-off.

In an interview with IAR (opens in new tab) , Smulders was asked about the possibility of appearing in the show, considering that she has a major role in a long-running sitcom.

“The commitments to [How I Met Your Mother] don’t affect it,” Smulders responded. “And I can’t really say but there are definite talks about it.”

If she does sign on, it’d be a wonderful win for the show. Smulders character was a popular addition to the franchise in The Avengers , and it’d certainly help the TV series feel genuinely connected to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, rather than coming across as a cheap knock-off.

Plus, Smulders has the small screen experience from her gig on HIMYM .

Hill is the sidekick to Samuel L. Jackson’s big boss, Nick Fury: smart, level-headed and handy with a pistol.

Smulders went on to add that she intends to stay in the MCU for as long as possible, “Oh yeah! I’m very excited. I will do Maria Hill until they fire me and hire someone else to do it.”
