Chris Hemsworth talks moving away from fantasy for Rush

Inside the upcoming issue 210 of Total Film magazine, we’ve got an astonishing stack of comic-book exclusives, and full Comic-Con 2013 coverage, and there’s also a lot more alongside the capes and superpowers.

Take Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth, for example, who tells us about moving away from the fantasy world to star in Rush . We’ve got an in-depth feature on the superb Formula 1 biopic that’s set to appeal to racing aficionados and newbies alike.

You can read the full feature inside the issue (which hits newsstands – both real and digital – on Friday 2 August 2013), but here’s a sneak peek at what Hemsworth told us about playing the legendary motor-racing playboy James Hunt.

“The focus was certainly to do something character based and rooted in reality,” the actor told us of Ron Howard’s high-octane biopic.

“I love the fantasy world that I was working in for Thor and Snow White & The Huntsman but, you know, I had it in spades. So something like this was essential, just for my own personal growth.

“When [Rush] came along, it ticked every box – from [ working with ] one of my favourite directors to a story that instantly fascinated me… You have this incredibly exciting backdrop of F1 and the sexiness and excitement of the ’70s, but with a beautiful character story at the centre of it.”

Rush opens in the UK on 13 September 2013. For much more on the film, pick up the brand-new issue 210 of Total Film magazine, which hits shelves on 2 August 2013.

Inside the issue, you’ll find full Comic-Con coverage of the likes of Joss Whedon on Avengers: Age Of Ultron , X-Men: Days Of Future Past , The Amazing Spider-Man 2 , Edge Of Tomorrow , Guardians Of The Galaxy , RoboCop , and more, plus Halle Berry, Lena Headey, James McAvoy and Matt Damon. Seriously, you’re not going to want to miss this one…
